It's good to see that he released (a least) something ( not to bad for his first bat...! 8) )

Thank you all for your comments, "texturing" is really a "school of patience", anyway hereafter a small update, don't hesitate to comment and thanks again! :thumb:

Nice work! I like how it looks

Id suggest to give a little patterns of weather or something more dirty to the white textures at walls, as like the bricks make those sharper. Thats my only suggestion.

    Keep it up!

BTW you can use proxy to reduce poly count...

9 million polygons! OMG! Maaaaan don't become obsessed with making every single thing perfect...Even if you don't make it 99% accurate casual sim city players won't notice...To me this is perfect even though there are always places to improve, but that shouldn't be your main concern...

Anyway hands down, this is one truly magnificent BAT!

About texturing... Yes, it is a good school of patience and perseverance!

You seem very competent for that my friend. :thumb:

    Great progress!

I reached 58.000.000 polys this week with a field of tulipas but it's exceptionnal and I have to say that already 10 millions for this kind of project is huge :)

Progress is good, as you are more skilly than me, I have no advice ^^

I have a quick question, were you ok to do some sculptures for me?

I want a close zoom at the lion and the horse :)

Heblem: Hi my friend and thanks a lot for commenting, walls are not done for the time being and I think I'll finish (including columns) by them. I am getting inspiration from Debussyman thread (breathtaking thread) :thumb:

De Ja Vu:  I make the renders in less than 4 mn... compare to penininsula (50 mn) it's Okay (in another hand, I am not sure of the direct incidence of the quantity of polygons and time rendering). Anyway thanks a lot for your comment!

Delecto: BTW, when will you post a new update in your thread??? :D;):thumb:

Girafe: Un champ d'tulipes...!!! Tu devrais essayer un champ de saules pleureurs, une idée comme ça, juste pour voir... qu'en penses-tu???? :thumb:

"Petite annonce": Echange saule pleureur contre statue...!

    details04.jpg

I 'll maybe work again on the statue's texture and I have to dress them too but I am still learning how to do it...!

Outstanding! you have probably notice the issue in the arcs with this zoom...About the statutes I don't think you have to add any more details as for SC4 it would be irrelevant.

Spectacular! Vraiment! :P As for polygons! You deserve a title "Polygon collector" or "Polygon creator". Really I have nothing else to say, knowing textures are not the ones you'll be using in the end :)

C'est pour tout bientôt pour le grand qui te plait bien, en attendant j'ai ressortis un vieux BAT de mon tiroir.

Fantastiques tes statues, le lion et la licorne me font bien rire! :thumb:

I think we need to create a new category for the trixie! :D "The Greatest Polygons Torturer" or "The Poly Master".

Vlasky: Dear Vlad, I discovered the use of bump map...! I think there will be new textures soon..! ;)

Delecto: That's a great news, can't wait for it on the STEX! :thumb:

Geez, you really need to make your modelling more efficient! This already has more ploys than the entire UN complex with all of its flora. For a building of this size I'd think you probably wouldn't need to be using more than a million or so even with the lavish detailing. Just be glad you're living in 2011 and not as little as five years ago when the average computer couldn't cope with a tenth of that.

I know you like to go above and beyond the requirements of a BAT just for the fun of it and that you already have a pretty powerful system but learning to model efficiently will really help your render times.

Otherwise the BAT looks beautiful and I can't wait to see some lights.

    Quick replies:

Tonio: no, I use Poser 8!

Aaron: :D yes! and I like you too! :thumb:

    Long replies:

Vlasky: you are right , I am still testing new technics (new for me I mean) I will put also the right aspect for the columns after! Maybe I shall make the terrace behind the copola (where there are all the HCAV a little bit less "dirty" but I think this place should be like that. I also think that the front view, because this terrace is not so visible from this point, the contrast you mentioned will appear less important, anyway I will work like you said , by making the all thing more coherent! Thanks my friend, I know that I can always have positive critics which help me to ameliorate :thumb:

Cockatoo: I plaid guilty, your honor, but it is not my fault! here some pics to explain:

    statues.jpg

Statues and deco moreless 400.000 poly.

balustrades (on 3 levels)+ columns :moreless 6.000.000 poly. (that's the culprit, "qu'on lui coupe la tête...." :rage: )

    pompe.jpg

    each pomp: 140.000 poly.

I admit that the pomps are ... superficial?... and I certainly need more skills to make the ionic columns and the balustrades more efficient! :???:

Anyway, you are right! I am lucky to live in 2011 beacause Ram is cheap and I can have 2 computers (in case of..) so I can still testing things on one during the scene renders on the other...!

One more pic , front side, I'll make variation for the columns later, just to check if I am in the "right direction"

oui qu'on lui coupe la tête, bien un truc de français ça ^^

What can I say, Peter the Great

If you can export and manage a such high poly scene, I am relly pro, the small batted detail brings always a timy contrast, variation and adds cachet to the project. Moreover for dealing with balustrades in the past, they are really heavy and the numbers of them on this project explains why the scene is so heavy.

Your work with the textures is excellent, I have to learn ^^.

The masterpiece of 2011 without doubts

is that blood on those pumps? :O I guess someone slipped 3 times and hit his nose against all 3 pumps because the staines are the same :P

It really looks astonishingly great I have to admit, but I think you could do with a whole less polys ;)

Replies bedore next update et "PLAY INTERLUDE"

Girafe: yes ! the balustrade ... ALWAYS the balustrade...! Hope it's only the video card (private conversation!)

Roger 51: I am happy today, have you seen the rugby match England France today???:party:

Paul: Hi my friend thanks for your warm comment , but you got me , I am lazy it's true and you noted it well ... same texture for the 3 pumps, I should be more attentive next time I post a closer view ;) . for the polycount... hum, maybe for the next project, I am still learning you know ! But anyway, I'll never answer anymore for this kind of question, because I don't see the point, and I am ... results oriented..! Imagine if I ask to (the Great) Dali how many kg of painting he used for the "Pêche aux thons"...? (of course, I didn't mean that I can be compare with Dali).

    And now..."PLAY INTERLUDE"

Amazing work. That would be the perfect capitol building for my city. :)

Also... tree! Although one thing I would do is darken the bark and possibly desaturate it ever-so-slightly.

Your creation is stunning Amthaak. It's great to see all that details (like dentils). I don't even think about what my computer would say if I tried to make so much details and ornaments...

"Is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud monuments, until there will be nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. Maybe… this is the time to take a stand, to reverse the tide, so that we won't all end up in a uniform world of steel and glass boxes." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
