  1. 007's Bat Thread

Hi all, First a reply to Huston. Thank you for your enthusiasm. I hope I can make it even better with this picture. And now a story. I revised the roof a bit. Removed the cage and placed some steel instead, made a bump map for the roof texture and added some additional flora. I also made some interior for the top floor reastaurant. I hope you like it. Constructive criticism is very welcome. -Ernst

Hi, It has been much to long since I did something here. So time for an update My building has taken shape at last, but still there needs an awful lot to happen. It's not a building based on real-life so I'm totally free what to do with it. I'm also going to make a base for this building. The main LOT is at the moment 9x3 which is bigger than my imagination was at the moment of shaping the BAT on paper. The only thing bugging me is the terrible glitch happening at the top of the building. I have no idea what happens there. Oh and special thanks to Glenni for bringing the idea of a green roof and special thanks to xyladoria for advisement on the concrete pillars. Any suggestions are more than welcome. -Ernst

Replies; Thunderman; Thanks. I'm happy for you beeing happy. It was a pleasure to do. skyscraper241; I wanted to do something quick and I thought it was good to go. Mainly because it wasn't my model I made it really fast ready for STEX. I didn't wanted to put in to much effort but still just enough. And I was glad about the result. I tested it in my city and I liked it and that's what counts here (*no offense*) and I'm very glad my requester (here above) also liked it. I hope you like my next building better. I started work on the garden. Took textures from the LOT-editor and put them down in GIMP where I put them together and implemented them in 3dsMAX. I need some stands and benches but that gonna be taken care of. First I would like to put work on the HVAC on top of the roof. What do you think of one side yellow and one side red? -Ernst

My first upload rendered with mental ray since I started with 3dsMAX in 2010. It's not the first and only BAT I created but I never took the time of distributing them over the STEX. This is a building which I textured and modified. The initial model is from a site which distributes untextured models for free without credits. The things I modified was the roof and the entrance. I want to thank the site for distibuting their models for free. The building is based on an Action store in the Netherlands. The Action is a big non food retail chain with over 340 stores. Settled in France, Germany, Belgium and of course the Netherlands. They specialize in low-budget products from Asia ranging from toilet paper to art and everything in between. The building is stage 4. CS$$. 2x3 tiles. For for help concerning the LOT you can visit my BAT thread; https://community.simtropolis.com/topic/44082-007s-bat-thread/page-3 I hope you enjoy!

Thank you Darn. You really helped me on this. And a picture to show off. You can stll see some windows at the top which aren't applied to this material yet. And I want to bring the attention a bit on for some ideas or suggestions on this building. -Ernst

With almost half a year thinking time. I've continued again on my building. I'm not sure about the roof (just going to change it but not sure into what), but modeling the exterior is mostly done. I have to say that it doesn't look so handsome now Work on the Coopvaert hasn't really progressed since last time. I fixed the walls a bit but that's all. I'm just posting a new picture because I saw that the last session became invalid. You can still see some errors in some places. Not much this time to show due a lack of inspiration and the drive to create something, but I feel something coming the next few weeks -Ernst

I really like the front of the building. You did an amazing job on the glass. -Ernst

It looks fabulous. but I have a question. For the squares (tiles, tilling) on the building. Did you chamfered the lines, put in another segment and moved it or did you made those in another way? -Ernst

Harishna; I changed that. Thanks for stopping by DCmetro; Thanks for the compliment Skyscaper; Thank you! Frex; Thanks Ok I finished the day building, but the nightlights didn't came out properly, since there were many glitches and bugs. Therefore I let the building rest for a while to find a solution for it. Yesterday I started on something new. Anybody knows the ugly Wibauthuis? On the wibautstraat in Amsterdam? I added an edge render to make the "details" more visible. I hope you like it so far. The blocks at the left top of the building are layout "dummies" It helps for starting to build. Sometimes I end up full with ideas but with an empty scene for about 3 hours and that's when it comes very useful -Ernst
