Looking over the model at it all looks so good, no idea what to nit-pic... its just a really good model over all, the progression in texture is a real study... and the latest detail pic bon magnifque! (spelling?)... other wise its a hi and hello kind of post...

Great job Amthaak! I'm already loving it!

Although I must say.. about those wood floors. In the first post, you had them a wee bit too much color, now this time they're a little under saturated! :b

Also, it would be a little more realistic adding a slight reflection to them.

Something almost un-noticable.. When you nite-lite.. the windows that are unseen by the orthographic view will be reflected through light by the slightly reflected wood/tiles that are on the 2nd balcony.

When you study almost every material around you.. they almost all have reflection. They may be small.. but when light is shined on them (esp. at night), you will significantly notice the reflection!

Here's an example of reflectivity;

Yep every material has reflection - all what we see is, in fact, a reflection. That being said One should be a bit more careful and measured about the whole thing. It is very tempting to run away with it, to make everything shiiinny, so to say. Truth is that most reflections are NOT glossy ones. And such reflections could be

1. not really noticeable in SC4 view/scale

2. very costly in terms of render time.

So sometimes one must really think if it all worth it. As for the saturation of the wooden decking (as it is rather decking then flooring, really) Wood exposed to elements for years and that , in the first place wasn't really lackerd, oiled may be wouldn't be anywhere near the picture Kelly had supplied. I believe current one (by Amthrack) is pretty much spot on. Making it more saturated is neither realistic nor is it practical - as it would appear to be darker...

He's using 3dsMax. If you're an university student you're any sort of student with a valid .edu email you can get it for free at the autodesk website.

...its an awesome model glad your back making some more neat projects however that latest building what is it called and is it on wikipedia to read about more and what type of architecture is it I can see 'british colonial' in it but then its mashed with other influences too

Good thing I dind't have coffee in my mouth - otherwise I'd probably have splurted it out all over my desk. What a beautiful and detailed model! Can't wait to see this one with textures all finished and ready to go. If your Peninsula Hotel can be taken as an indicator of what you are able to achieve with the BAT, then the STEX can brace itself for another top-notch upload.
