Damn that looks HAWT!!! tho those HVAC units look a bit flat (the ones with 6 fans on top of them), that's probably cuz there's only texture there but I'm sure you'll sort it out. :D looks amazing

    Aaron: thanks my friend!

Ok Vlad! well noted! herafter two options :

    - your suggestion (in yr PM) i.e. adding some cylinders in order to get more relief

    - option 2 batting everything

I have to say that the option 2 is (of course) closer to reality! But I am open to your (wise and sagacious) suggestion! :thumb:

My god, that is the nicest BAT I've seen in ages. Well done!

Once again, from a purely Sim City point of view you've gone overboard with the detailing. I guess that can only mean you want to do a heap of non SC rendering too! :)

Btw, TowerDude, it looks like you forgot to post your English translation. Just a friendly reminder to everyone that posts in another language should always have an English translation to go with them. This is just so everybody can follow the conversation.

Well now that you've put it like that I must say, go with the modeled one.

I wanted to save you a trouble of modeling everything but now that you already did it, just go with it. Tho, surprisingly, in both renderings both of the options look fine to my amateurish eye. But knowing how you always opt for higher quality, I'd suggest going with modeled one, since you'd be more happy with it. :D

Exceptional as always, tho I'm sorry to see this lovely building filled with all those mechanics. Never mind that, your models is perfect and full of details as always! But please tell us more about those textures applied to the columns on the right side of the rendering.

They are textured , the one on the left are not yet...

At the end, they should be all "the same" I am more working on the roof junks. I'll work later on them.

    any other comment? ;)

any other comments ? yes, looks great! Good luck with the texturing. But I don't quite like the texture you've used on the right side columns! ;)

It's so nice to see this beauty progressing - it will be yet another masterpiece by you, mon cher ami

About my city, well, as we moved back to Europe, my SC4 discs are in one county, while I am yet in another. It's all rather complicated, which means it will take some time to come out with a new update. But I'm working on some projects at Lot Editor, including your wonderful buildings, bien évidemment! Thanks for asking 8)

    Looks good.

but there are some issues with it and I think you really need to correct them if you want you model to evolve into accurate, proportionate and harmonious recreation.

    b9cadb174f8c.jpg

    1. you window and doors "frames" are way way too thick making the whole thing look more like a doll house.
    2. same goes for the steps you have by the larger AC units and also the ladder by the main dome. Details like that either make or break illusion. There area also few quite illogical placements. For instance the stairs marked by left arrow lead right into the wall of AC unit.
    3. these are either overscaled or then smaller towers by the main dome are underscaled. It also completely through off the balance of the building.
      ef4a9bbf5d31.jpg
    4. the height of the space under the windows are also way way to large. Together with previous point it makes your wing section look like they belong to the different model than the central dome section.
    5. ACs and generally all roof junk seem to be greatly oversized Look at this picture and their sizes relative to main architectural elements, In you model they really dominate the roof... Take a look at this picture:
      hong-kong244.jpg

BTW are those "Zoom6" renders? And would it be possible to see if front viewport like...

I guess I must clarify that "harmonious" means to me giving right, faithful impression.

You've already put a lot of love and work into this model. I can only imagine how hard was it to gestimate all the key proportions of the building! It would be pity to see perfection ruined by some far easier bits and pieces.

It's looking great, and while SimFox has some good points I cannot agree with 1. From the picture it looks like the windows are set back quite alot, something which Amthaak has captured in his model.

SimFox: Good to see you back, you know that your advices and comments are more than appreciated.

1:You are right, to try any justifications , I would say that I exagerate details in order to be more visible. I am afraid that I exagerate too much...!

2:idem point 1! about the misplacement of the stairs close to HVAC unit is due to a bad interpretation of the pic I used to make it (see below...)

3:I think that the small towers are effectively underscaled, in another hand, how can one of the cheminey (the squre one) escaped from my attention !!!! Sorry and thanks to remind me!

4:This impression is maybe because the cornice is slightly too high! I say that becuase on the front side, at the last floor, there is stairs with 5 steps!

All the pics are zoom 6

this one hereafter is zoom 5!

I will not use HD, don't worry...! ;)

While you are checking and adjusting things from this picture it looks as your gable roofs may be too small, they seem to be closer to the edges of the building in real life.

Lovely BAT fantastic care of details!

Effectively! Stupid I am, I aligned the wall with the middle of the column and it as to be align with the exterior of the column, which is at least 0.5 m! Thanks my friend! :thumb: new pics will follow!

    Here is the pic!

can't make the 2 roofs (chineese style?) larger as they look on the RL pic, because it will then, impossible to see the walls , espacially the "corridor between the domo and the sided buildings where they are 2 verandas and plants.

Take closer look at the porticos. There are some, imho, mistakes there. Both detail wise as well as proportion. At back portico central "arch" of the second level is different. Plus all of them (both back and front) should be wider in relation to the stuff around.

On the other hand I wouldn't get panties in a twist about the exact width of the "chinese" roofs. Those aren't quite as important in conveying the building, imho...

Also as far as I remember there are no "windows" in back portico's ground level arches...

For the stone blocks, on a new layer in photoshop, fill in each block with a different shade of grey, and set that layer to multiply or overlay, and reduce the opacity to make it more subtle if you have to. This helps add definition to the blocks, so you can decrease the opacity of the lines, and overall the block definition will be more subtle.

The building is coming along great. :)
