Can you tell me what Embankment/Plopable Trees Mod you are using? Also, how did you make the Bridges with these sidewalk Texture?

The trees are seasonals from Girafe right on this link: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3126

There are 2 textures in the bridges, the brown texture is from the canals anyway, the grey is a sidewalk mod, but I can't remember how it's called right now, you want it? Later I'll try to discover.

Here is a new downtown that i've been working on. Instead of trying to do skyscrapper jungles, i am trying to build a more realistic city, with way more attention to detail etc. But even though i see some progress in my gameplay, i think i still fall short of the vast majority of cities of the forum user's :S... Looking forward to honest criticism, sugestions and stuff, since i think it will help me.

PS: I see people saying "sorry for software mode". What's the difference between software and hardware mode? Also, when i try to play on hardware mode, my region view is almost completely black... Is this a common bug?

Sorry for my bad english and thanks in advance

Did some work on that downtown, and in my opinion now it looks better. Problems to solve in a next city:

- Architecture: buildings should be somehow similar in style; repeated buildings :(

- Parks: More homogeneous parks.

- Rivers: I think that those three vegetation styles look cool, but i can improve the riverside with the proper mods.

- Infrastructure: Project Symphony with better transitions etc, bigger rail stations, etc.

More suggestions?

Will probably do some industrial on the two other margins (mixed with low/mid density comercial).

It's looking much better and good overall, however, I would seriously recommend using the Project Symphony and RHW interchanges as they are so much better than their Maxis counterparts.

Thanks Michae.

I've installed Project Symphony but i've already had the city built up and didn't want to buldoze that many things. Its the Ring of Fire region, so it's pretty big anyway :)

Thanks and good luck to you too.

It's not bad but it takes a lot of time, and since my sim city keeps crashing, it's frustrating to be saving every 3 minutes xD. I also have demand mod and moolah cheat xD.

The city grows up quick, but in my opinion, and its probably some problem with the mods (i have CAM), it just grows a lot of the same buildings. Always the same buildings :S. I have a small tower that keeps popping up in cs $,$$, $$$, sucks lol.

Upgraded roads, maybe? I see a lot of streets in the CBD which, I must say, makes it look somewhat off.

Yes, i think you have a point. Will upgrade streets to standard road, since that is somehow easy and will give the CBD a way better look.

Here's a downtown area I recently finished in the city of Promethia (soon to appear as a part of a CJ or something). It's actually the same town that I had in the works (with that port) before, but it's been updated to some extent (plus photo editing!  :P )

Notes

  • I know some people aren't big fans of dark night images. I sort of am (realism much?), so I kinda did dark night images anyway. Bear with me, I guess.
  • The jagged rocky shores were intentional
  • I know there should be more traffic, I'm still working on the outlying suburbs in neighboring city tiles, which should add to the traffic since most of the port's jobs are filled up
  • I'm still perfecting my reflections (only shown in one image because they would only appear in said-image), so be kind please ;)

Right now, not really.

As a person I have a very difficult time deciding what I want, which can lead me to having multiple different major unfinished projects. In this case I think I have 3 such CBDs sitting around collecting dust (all of which are pretty different in design).

I've been wanting to make a CJ, but haven't been able to decide which project I'm going to turn into a CJ. This has kind of frozen progress on a lot of my stuff.

Seeing as there's some interest, though, I might post other parts of that particular project. If I remember correctly, I think I have a few tiles with varying levels of completion. Maybe I'll post images of those in the coming days.

You need to upload your images to an external site, such as a imgur.com and then link them in the editor using the image button.

Here is mine, still along way to go. The Downtown area of Langstone Bay is going to be 90% plop and eye candy. It's my first proper attempt, though I will make lots of changes to the size of the area. Note the area i circled, how can i put something under it? i dont want grass, i want something like the plaza textures. Also i dont like the bus stops, its kinda naff i know. The Pylons are there for temp though.

Id like to get feedback if thats ok :)

For my upcoming CJ1X3vR39.jpg

It's a small glimpse. The CBD is going to be quite large I guess.

You know what happens when you don't save often and just go snap happy instead? You lose all of this to a crash...

Kensington-Nov.%2028%20651430731399_zpsa

This was an almost complete CBD for Kensington, the capital city of the region I'm currently building. At least I have a "guide" for when I rebuild it...

Sorry for a late reply...

In my opinion, first, you should get a slope mod (i use Enhiill slope mod i think), or at least use the mayor or god mod tools to level the terrain. Secondly, i think you should look some dependencies for some files, i think you are probably missing some (especially in the small building where there is grass, but maybe im wrong). Thirdly, and again in my opinion, you should look here on simtropolis some parks, plazas and infrastructure. For example, i now im trying to avoid using the maxis bus stop, adding instead bus and metro stops on the road, since they don't ocuppy a tile.

Finally, and this is just a personal view, i don't like the Marina building and the orange one (Bank of America, am i right?), and i would try to plop buildings that have similar terrains, in order to have similar plazas.

I see much room for improvement, and i think that you have a nice terrain there where you can do a very nice downtown :)

I would like if you link me to some of your buildings:

the two small towers that are similar. The second building to the right (blue one) and also the building down the Shangai World Finance Center.

Thanks :)

Oh also the building imediatly left to the Toyota Center :)

A work-in-progress. Nothing fancy, but I like how it's coming along. That elevated freeway is new, I previously had only an avenue there which needed something higher-capacity.

It looks amazing:

- You should look for some diagonal buildings to use on the coast line where the avenue is diagonal.

Questions:

- Why does your areas have those colours in the ground?

- What water mod are you using in order to have the water like that?

Heres my CBD. I originally plopped this down as a gritty 1940s depression-esque docklands and as I expanded the suburbs around it I have been slowly building out the density and getting the landscape down.

There are still some gaps where I haven't found the 'right' building (I'm taking suggestions ;) )

The big gap in the middle is reserved for Vlaskys upcoming ESB - hopefully the city will have grown and densifiyed a lot by then though.

Wow these pictures are pictures are breathtaking. I like the use of the Elevated Rapid Transit track, especially that area where you have that curve.

Great CBD. Love the landscape-based development in the first picture.
