Since night views seem to be all the rage:

You might also want to check out the entire CJ, but make sure you take a look at the grand finale. Aesti Dominici

It's 1024x768 (and only shows the larger half of the city), so click on the thumbnail:
newtopiaii1nb.th.jpg alt=Free Image Host
It's Newtopia II, from my Nussland region. Yes, it's the obligatory nighttime shot, though there are fireworks in this one. Also, note the fire vehicle dispatch marker thing, which has been there for hundreds of simyears. Stupid bugs. 28.gif
I still need to start my Nussland CJ, but only once I get teh internets working on my desktop. 7.gif

I am a big fan of realistic looking downtown areas; for example, gradual change from low-rise to high-rise, and a small area of of the highest buildings.

Here are screenshots of two different cities:

Here's some pictures of the downtown of Ocean Side, my best city. (population in the 4km x 4km square: 699,708. Est. pop in entire city: 800,000. Total metro pop (est): 1,200,000)

Another angle. The country club is in the way of expansion, but when I tore it down, the sims started complaining. So it'll have to be built around.

Some skyscrapers branched off from downtown, and development in this area is expected to increase more rapidly than development in the downtown area.

The Herman B. Haupt Memorial Bridge, which connects Capital City Island with the mainland, and downtown. About 6,000 people take it to work.

Royal Square. This is where rallies are held, and where the Head of State gives speaches.

These are pics I took yesterday. Next time I play this city, I'll grab a night shot.

Whoa! There are some nice downtowns here, I will get to posting mine once I actually build some (lol)

slincoln, those are actually some great downtown shots. Do you have a City Journal here, on ST? If not, you should really consider creating one.

Hey is that snow? Or is that just very low terrain level? 3.gif

Hey I really like your downtown very close to the water! Flooding[:0] But looks great! Why haven't you started a City Journal Yet?

^lol.

I'm actually planning on starting more of a Country Journal, in which there will be a ton of countries politiking and the like. I was planning on getting my cities a bit more built up, but at the rate I'm going (and at the rate SimCity plays), it won't reach an acceptable level anytime soon. So, I'll release one in about mid-July.

As for flooding, there's a lot of drains. 3.gif

Now this is MY kind of thread, hope it stays active for a long time 36.gif. Should've made one ages ago when I was still a $%&^! 18.gif.

Anyway, here a couple of pictures from my city Urbania (common name I know 3.gif)

Please note, no cheats were used in the construction of this city (pre-NAM too 3.gif). Also, only 10-15% of the buildings were plopped. The rest grew (those pesky Mori Towers and Djoella Industries 3.gif).

Commercial pop. approx. 1,500,000
Residential pop. approx. 1,050,000

Here's my city of Balta, Kansas. The city proper is about 45,000 with 150,000 in the metro. It's the largest city in my region.

this is an old(ish) picture but i rather like it. it's from my amryai region (the link to that CJ is in my sig), but the city pictured isn't my central one, it's kind of more of a suburb and only has 51,000 people.
