  1. Show Us your Highways!

Everyone's highways are so pretty and well designed--where are the bad ones? I know in SC4, it makes sense to do the highways first, then the city. However, I like to envision how the city was before building the highway and take that into account. The following is a rather extreme example. The following picture is a close-up of the Metronomy Central Expressway as it cuts its way through the city near downtown. Due to the built environment, Metronomy had to use extensive use of eminent domain, as well as replacing Augusta Street with the highway. Portions of the Maine Streets neighborhood were condemned as blighted to effectuate the takings. The highway was built in the 1960s, and the engineers were told to "build it cheap and fast" in order to limit overall costs. Hence, eminent domain was used only as completely necessary and the engineers kept this portion of the highway at ground level, cutting the neighborhood into two; a scar that remains to this day (none of the roads were arterial due to the rail yards, so the loss of connectivity wasn't considered a problem). Health problems from pollution stemming from the highway are also still a problem.
  2. Show us your Downtown!

Chinatown District of Metronomy (part of downtown area)
  3. The Viceroyalty of Perseus - Teaser!

What's that gothic-like building with the tower in the center?
  4. #2 Vineil City Centre

    What are those seawalls?
  5. Show us Your Interchanges!

This interchange is largely done, although I still need to figure out a way to get that avenue across (I might have to resort to BuddyBud's underpasses)
  6. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Are you looking for modular park sets? Like this one by Andreas? There are many other modular park sets - . There are also textures that you can use to create your own lots, . Hope that helps. No, it is not any of those. If you look in the picture, you can see the diagonal half-sidewalk half-grass pieces. It is similar to those. I think it is similar to JRJ's Parfences, but there are no tree borders. I'll keep looking for an exact picture. I believe this picture has it exactly: not the grey path pieces, but the sidewalk-grass pieces (specifically the Newstand is one of the lots I remember) Some of the pieces are 1x2 and have slight curves, etc.
  7. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Hi all, I am looking for a set of sidewalk-to-grass park transition lots, the set included straight, diagonals, and some curved transitions. I'm particularly interested in the getting the curved ones. I believe they were similar to what you see in this picture (although I don't know if those are exactly it, I have not yet found an exact picture):
  8. I would like to see more 19th Century large-scale Urban Mills\Factories. Most of the BATs for industry we have have too much empty space (more modern manufacturing style). See examples like: http://www.elementsofculturalhistory.com/Images/lodzfactories.jpg http://www.verani.com/resources/get/18090 These were generally built right up to the street and are nearly W2W style.
  9. NYBT ABBT Manhattanville Project (2nd Pack)

Any reason why these do not seem to want to grow next to each other (applies to all the Manhattenville buildings)?
  10. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Hi, I am looking for the mod that replaces the base textures for buildings and landmarks to match your sidewalks textures.

deion30296: N4C has stated that the shores are too steep for subway. Plus, I like the nitty gritty of El-Rail over subway, even if in this version of things, ultimately counting all costs, it probably costs more points for el-rail than subway.

Central Square is in Parcel 18, I made a replication of the existing network and then modified it. It's the road intersection where my current line ends. Some of that commercial zoning is already built up, I just put it there for reference, the rest will need to be changed. If you want to see the original it is picture C-3 of Parcel 18.

South Island Electric Rail Company Phase II The South Island Electric Rail Company is please to announce plans for Phase II expansion of its light rail operations on South Island. Phase II will bring to South Island further mass transit improvements as well as other necessary services both for customers and the company. Broadly, Phase II will seek to implement three things: 1)A redesign of Central Square 2) The construction of A Line, the first of three branches on the island and 3) Service Yard for SIERC trains. Plans 1. Central Square Redevelopment The New Central Square Central Square is just that, the central commercial and transit hub of South Island. As such, SEIRC has determined it would be best to have its three island branches meet at Central Square. The development will also add new commercial lots, a redesign of the road systems for better efficiency, and two SEIRC stops. 1. The existing Central Square Station will be demolished and replaced with one where the Red Square is located. Parking there shall be converted to light commercial. 2. The yellow Square indicates a second station on the A Line branch. The A Line will continue as GLR-in-Ave to the University 3. The laying of track for future Phases that will create the B and C line branches. 4. 4 Lots of medium commercial, to ensure variety of services in the square and maximize building density--no Spa centers here! 2. A Line Overview A Line Overview 1. The A Line will continue in GLR-in-Ave all the way to near the University. This is represented by the thin purple line (GLR) in the red line (Avenue). There shall be three stops built at this time with others possible as the island develops more. 2. The Three stop should be directly next to cross streets/roads. One cross street, marked by gray line, will get an extension connecting it to the suburban development to its south. 2. After crossing Route 35 and nearing the university, the A Line shall separate from the Avenue and turn east, running along the norther edge of the avenue north of the University, then along the southern edge of the road that is Route 35. From there it will have 2 stops in the small development in Parcel 22. 3. Close-up Along Route 35 Around the Water Tower 1. The GLR will continue to abut Route 35 until the water tower, where it will extend two tiles further and then continue parallel to Route 35, turning again and being adjacent to Route 35. 4. Eastern Stops The A Line's Last two Stops 1. The A line will continue on the south side of Route 35, with two additional stops, marked in yellow squares. 5. Service Yard/Line Termination Land for the Train Service Yard 1. This shall be the situs of the SEIRC Train service yard, maintaining and housing the Tram cars for the entire rail system. 2. The Tram yard shall be the one found on the STEX at https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=332 (VDK Swan Mill Tramdepot BSC). This is a 6x12 Lot, so the roads and GLR will need to be worked to allow for this lot to be placed

Are South Island Electric Rail assets (i.e. my assets) generating no points yet?
  15. Blue Hope - The Interactive City Journal

I have begun to plan Phase II of the South Island Electric Rail system. Having said that, I'd like to detail what my overall plans are for the area. Generally speaking, the South Island Electric Rail company will be opposed to any large scale highway development on the island, for somewhat obvious reasons. That is not to say the Company does not recognize the likelyhood of at least some sort of limited access road being needed. As such, the Company feels it would be best if it were to be in charge of such planning and development. The Company would like to receive grants for exclusive options to develop any limited access roads on the island and the bridge from South Island to Millidgeville. As for the light rail system, I am currently working on Phase II, though I am not sure on how much I can do at once. For access to Downtown, I was definitely planning on using elevated rail to cross into the downtown parcel and go across the water. However, I was planning on ending the line in downtown, likely next to the Smith Tower. This part of the plan would certainly be expensive, considering the need to purchase some medium residential towers and the demolish them for the El-Rail. Obviously a lot of projects and ideas on my plate.
