Well, I was testing those lots on a completely empty plugin folder (except for the lot dependencies) so what you are seeing is the vanilla maxis streets. (no NAM or any other transport modding) I see. I guess SimCity 4 vanilla and SimCity 4 Deluxe have different default street/road intersections. Thanks though. No they do not. maybe the extreme few, but vast amount of Americans that claim to be poor also own a car, a cellphone and have a place to sleep. In impoverished countries people still risk death to come here for even the lowest of the American life. Ask immigrants from Central and South America. Many of them come to the United States, and do not have the "proper" means of getting into this country, and therefore have little to no opportunity at all. I've seen a 60 Minutes piece on how many of these families claim that they are no better off here than where they just came from. All it takes is one traffic stop, and you're deported. Yes they risk death to come here, but I'd say this is largely in vain and I blame Hollywood for perpetuating the myth that life in America is like the dreamy sitcoms you see on TV. It isn't. A lot of Americans still don't like brown-skinned people, and it shows. And while many poor Americans do own a car, I've seen numerous cases where that's all they own. Some entire families live in old RVs and vans, especially since 2008. You can find documentaries of this on YouTube, easily. And everyone has a place to sleep. Whether it's in a comfy house, a homeless shelter or under a bridge - a place to sleep is a place to sleep. Also, gadgets and gizmos are not widely available in just America. I've seen pictures of people living in utter poverty in places like Sao Paulo, Brazil and some own laptops and smartphones. Same with many impoverished African countries. People's fantasy of what poverty is "supposed to look like" has not applied in decades. And what is this "only a few extremes"? America's poor are no better off than Canada's, the UK's, France's, Germany's, or any other "first-world" (I hate that phrase) countries. In fact, out of all developed countries, America has the weakest social safety net. Doesn't sound better to me. Maybe better than India like Lexus said, and other countries like it. But certainly not high and almighty either. And you might say "well, a lot of homeless people in America are fat" but that's because the cheapest food is also the most unhealthy and fattening (like McDonalds). Should I tell the people living under the freeway overpass a few blocks from me that they're not really poor? Statements like that of the California congressman's are overgeneralizing and inaccurate. But the again, I know Americans love their false over-generalizations, stereotypes, and blatant misinformation and would do anything to defend (and even justify) them in a heartbeat. Stupid is popular. I can't stand this attitude that "everything in and about America is always better, there are no real problems, everything is the greatest it has ever been, we can keep doing this forever and there will be no consequences, problems will never happen here, we're still number one, we're the best, and everybody else has it worse." It is so completely and blatantly moronic, inaccurate, counterproductive, over-generalizing & over-simplifying, dumbed-down, both ignorant and arrogant, it makes my skin crawl. "We're the freest nation in the world!" said the country with the highest incarceration rate in the history of the world. Does anybody even realize how stupid this is? No other country in the world has ever imprisoned more of its own citizens than the United States currently does - yet nobody seems to care. Crime is the big boogeyman since the 90s and these so-called "generous, compassionate" Americans don't want something that could potentially help others anywhere near them. The above attitude also encourages apathy and laziness. "America doesn't really have problems, screw those whiners. Let's just keep doing the same crap we've been doing and shut up." Horribly inaccurate and anyone with eyes can see that it is just stupid. That's why people got pissed at the congressman (by the way, didn't we recently have the least productive Congress in this nation's history?) Keep up that "America is flawless and everyone else is worse-off" attitude, and that stuff you see in India? Coming soon near you. Speaking of which, I've seen a number of shantytowns situated near freeways here in California in the last couple of years. I remember driving past one along I-15 near Victorville, CA and my Dad and I did a double-take, turned to each other and said "Mumbai-style!" So kill that counterproductive attitude, it's extremely unhelpful Mr. Congressman.

Some of the only PC games other than the SimCity series that I ever really loved were RCT 1 and 2. I still have both of them, however the first one no longer runs on my new laptop (compatibility problems). The second one works fine though. Over the years, one of my favorite things to do was to name the guests every name I could think of - people I knew in real life, friends, family, etc., celebrities, musicians, politicians, activists, and even video game/cartoon characters - and clicking the "i" button so that I could keep track of everything they did. And that's not the best part - I would give the Rides and Stalls all funny names, so that eventually I would get ticker messages that read "Michael Jackson is on drugs" or "Peter Griffin is in the crapper" (in place of 'Restroom 1'). I couldn't really get into RCT3 though. One thing I did like about it was riding your own rollercoasters, especially if they were fails and exploded/derailed.

Recently, after completing a re-install of the NAM, I have been running into this problem with pieces of a transportation network station - the network (in this case, rail) will drag through one side, but not the other. The terrain is completely flat, I have tried dragging the rail and then plopping the station on top of it, but the result is always the same. Sometimes, the glitch doesn't occur for some reason and it works fine with other networks. I have also been having this problem with the Bus Station on road/street/avenue mod, sometimes plopping it cuts part of the road/street off and refuses to reconnect.

A work-in-progress. Nothing fancy, but I like how it's coming along. That elevated freeway is new, I previously had only an avenue there which needed something higher-capacity.

Exactly. I was going to respond to his post with a wall-of-text post, but I decided that would take too much time and I just didn't feel like going through that crap at the moment. I could write a 10-page essay on all of the things wrong with the content in his post, and his genuine belief in it. Besides, I've been itching to use that 'are you serious' pic and it summed up my reaction to his post pretty well anyway.

That's how I meant it - SC4 as an umbrella statement covering the game itself and the plethora of custom content (I think you have to, just as when you refer to C:S). Certainly, the base game itself is as broken as it was in 2003. Fortunately, the community at large has been able to fix most of the more glaring issues. Wow. This coming from the same person who has downplayed C:S' impressive early sales figures in light of the average PC & console game market. I don't know where you're finding anger and hatred. I've found some, though. Might I suggest you go play one of your flavor of the week FPS/RPGs in case it helps you vent. No skin off my back if I'm the last man standing. I bet I won't be, though. I said i'd be surprised if it Skylines sold a million and I am surprised. The sales literally go against market trends and forces in the West. Though we don't know how many people are still playing the game on regular basis. You do know there is raging debate on whether Skylines ripped off Simcity 4 across the gaming media and forums. Sometimes products defy the market, like the iPod, iPhone, Wii, DS, Xbox 360, etc... These products were all expected to fail according to market research and trends. Hell the iPod, iPhone, DS and Wii were all declared DOA at their unveiling and launch. Also I don't play shooters and RPGs are considered niche as in they aren't produced in sizable quantities anymore nor do they command sales. Nearly all the games I play are considered niche, casual, kiddy and/or nerdy. The point still stands that Simcity 4 fans will not move on, until forced by an apocalyptic event. They're fans for a reason... Fans rarely defect and/or use a competing product... If you use a competing product, you don't fit the definition of fan. You won't see a Street Fighter fan touching Tekken with a 10 mile pole and vice versa You won't see an Android OS fan touch an Apple device as well You won't see Windows fans using another OS. You won't see LBP fans play Mario FYI: I've owned 4 copies of Simcity 4 since 2003, 5 if you count Simcity Box. As other members have pointed out - a simple search of posts by your username reveals your apparent deep-seated hatred for SC4....there is no fiery war between SC4 fans and CS fans as you speak of. I only see you trying to create that yourself. I think you are forgetting, that Cities: Skylines was a response to the disappointing SimCity 2013, not SC4. Skylines is most certainly better than both SC4 and SC2013 in a substantial number of ways. There are hundreds, if not thousands of SC4 players on this forum alone whom have eagerly awaited the release of something like Cities: Skylines, but remember these are very different games and people can most certainly be fans of both (as many are). Your strict, rigid definition of what a "fan" is couldn't be farther from the truth. You are defining loyalism. People will do what they want to do, not abide by strict codes such as those you have listed. I have also seen many of your posts mention "markets, trends, and sales figures" yet you have not provided any sources to back up your claims. Not that I doubt Cities: Skylines far superior sales figures. But browse the forum a bit, and you can see most people here don't even have Steam. I'm not knocking your views or anything, but it looks a lot like you are trying to stir up trouble that doesn't exist.

I mean, it has the same system req's as Grand Theft Auto V, placing it ahead of Skyrim and many other demanding games. They were there for you to check a while before the game even came out. I haven't kept up with video games in about a decade now. Never played GTA V or Skyrim, or any of those others. To be fair, I should have looked up the specs before getting the game. Also I have an Asus Laptop, I accidentally typed Acer as that was my previous laptop. I haven't owned any sort of desktop computer since 2010.

I really like CS so far, but I can barely run it on my laptop which is all I have. I can still run SC4 very well (with the help of the Launcher) so I'll stick with that for now. While that ties more into consumerism and materialism, I do agree. I see that crap everywhere around where I live - bunch of materialistic suburban consumer zombies always after the latest thing, waiting for the comforting voice in the commercials to tell them what to buy next and what they need to have more fulfilling lives (some people acutally buy that). Meanwhile there are still thousands of 1970s trucks hauling gravel and goods on our roads. I applaud many of those that stick with the cars they have rather than being pulled into the latest BS. Talk like that will get you flamed out of just about any tech thread. I lurk around MacRumors occasionally and the [many] people who have come out against that disaster called OS X Yosemite pretty much get run out on a rail for being "stuck in the past", "dated", "afraid of change", etc. Of course they're the people that'll follow that particular sinking ship until its irrelevant. They don't get the concept of "change for the sake of change" not being a good thing for anybody except those pushing the change. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. SC4 ain't broke and it's as fixed as it's ever been. I'm getting mixed messages from your post. Of course techies shun all things not made within the last 6 months, I find the lot of those people to be very tedious and fake. Quite materialistic too, which is never a good thing. Even with all the so-called environmentally-friendly BS they churn out on a daily basis - They don't "get it". Bunch of fools. Yet many elements of the original SC4 were very broken - which is why the NAM was created and mods created.

I'm just barely able to run the game on my Acer Laptop (Windows 8.1). Wish I had known that I need a friggin' supercomputer to run the game before I downloaded purchased it. Only runs at the lowest possible game settings, and even then it's very slow and laggy.

I have been saying this for years. I live in Southern California, and water districts are coming down hard on consumers and now restricting all new permits for landscaping - which is a good thing, but they really do need to go further and nail the big agribusinesses and corporations (like Hershey) that use extremely high amounts of water here. What they did was look at all of the existing native vegetation here, this beautiful often-green, drought-tolerant Chaparal and Sage Scrub that does not require any intervention nor watering from humans and has gotten by that way for centuries in this part of the world - ripped all of that out, and replaced it with golf courses, exotic tropical plants and palm trees that require many gallons of water each day "because they like it more". It doesn't take a team of professional investigators to figure how that is was stupid. This is why I believe the stereotpyical American view that California is some lush, tropical, always-sunny paradise is not only horribly and provably inaccurate, but actually harmful and wastes copius amounts of natural resources. California's Tourism board, Hollywood, and late-night talk show hosts exacerbate this problem by taking advantage of the incredible stupidity of the average American. I am very against the construction of all new suburban tracts in this state, I believe they are an extreme waste of money and resources. The less people in California, the better off this state will be. I can't even begin to tell you how I've seen this state's beautiful countryside get paved over for pretentious cookie-cutter McMansions, luxury car dealerships, more shopping centers and office space than anybody knows what to do with. The rest of the United States keeps sending us these yuppies and folks who demand unnecesarrily large houses, granite countertops, new Mercedes-Benz SUVs, and country clubs - These people need to just go away.

How did you get those yellow crosswalks at the road intersections? My road intersections are just dull and blank, with no lines or crosswalks. I have the very latest NAM and features installed. Those street intersections, with the little "square" - how did you get those? As I stated above, mine are just ordinary-looking. I'd like the intersections have a little more to show for them like you and so many other users have.
