Don't you think I know that? The 'S' stands for SIMTROPOLIS and thats the universal name, Russian or not.

Anywho... awesome work Glenni... i've seen most of those already, but the Hat Factory looks really cool... last time i seen that it was a few random walls 3.gif

Thanks for all the kind comments, but unfortunately, my lack of experience with BATing showed when I imported the buildings ingame. They were way to small, because apparently 1m in gmax doesn't translate to a realistic meter in SC 15.gif, the small w2w building can be salvaged I reckon, but I decided to abandon the other 2 and start on a new building, which I had hoped was simpler.

Here is is:

bat18cf1.jpg

bat19hz2.jpg

It is the American Machines and Foundry Building in New York. It is located on Madison Avenue between 38th and 39th street. I choose this building because I thought it was rather simple and not very time consuming to make, but I guess I was wrong. It is a pretty accurate reconstruction, it lacks a third 2 story setback (which I left out because otherwise the tower wouldn't fit properly), but aside from that, it is pretty accurate.

The model is nearly done, it just requires a few window frames (on the rear and on the setbacks), some roof details and a nice plinth. After that I still have to find a nice texture though.

The building will fit on a 3x2 lot and I intended it as a corner w2w lot.

@Nofunk,

That building is located on the corner of west 37th and Madison Avenue in NY, but I thought 37th Street Building would sound kinda boring, unfortunately, that building was really off scale, so I'm not going to continue with it, though I really do intend on remaking it in the future.

gr8 stuff everyone! Glenni, that's awesome stuff!! You're very talented 4.gif Nice one El Burro, very unusual in it's classic form. Great texturing too. (only thing: the pillar texture seems to have a gradient that's dark on top and bright on bottom. it makes more sense the other way)

I like this thread 4.gif

crownsteler, excellent work. I'm recreating New York so I'm very excited to see your work.

If it’s OK I’d be happy clear a little space on my BAT list to finish the Madison Building and/or the American Machines and Foundry Building for you.

Really excellent work, I can‘t wait to see what other BAT’s you make in the future.

Wow Glenni! You’ve been a busy boy haven’t you? Odainsaker great work as usual.

All the BAT’s look very good. Keep up the great work everyone. It's always nice to see the all the different things everyone's working on.

As for me I’m currently working on my BAT’s for New York:

Staten Island Borough Hall

Sony Tower

I got my hands on 3ds Max, and so began playing around with it.

I particularly enjoy playing with the reflections, and funky perspective renders.

After some failed BATs, i came up with this, and made some stuff around it. (the tree being included in 3ds MAX really useful 3.gif)

And night:

Now i just need to get the scale right and get Bat for Max to work, and it should be ready to render.

And here is something else i started on:

Figured I would pop my head in here for a moment, seeing as how I have achieved a minor milestone in my eyes 9.gif

I have officially modeled a building (or part of one) that needs to be instanced many times over. Scores! Scads! 59! Amazing!

I have bixel to thank for enlightening me to this procedure. I remember reading one of his posts where he says he has templates of building portions and just instances them in a controlled manner to create awesome looking buildings. Hadn't thought of it, but it makes perfect sense. So I attacked this building with this manner and am happy with the results.

Now, first a caveat. I didn't instance vertically, I instanced horizontally. This building is only 8 floors tall. But it also happens to be the longest building east of the Mississippi at over 1000 feet long (but only 52 feet wide). It was used as an industrial warehouse for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company before being boarded up. But later, around 1992, it became the head offices of a local Baltimore, MD group. It also has restaurants, shops, museums and banquet space within it's confines. Redevelopment at it's best.

anyone who is a fan of baseball should know this building. 5.gif

LOL!

I quite like the idea of it being really long actually, especially with a load of shops at the bottom, it would be absolutely perfect in a wharf or something like that.

ToxicPiano:

Oh it's great!! But that should be a plop, it is next to impossible to grow lot of that size and if it s commercial cervices it may have great trouble to survive. But as a pure architectural exercise it is great, I also adore these types of redevelopments! So much character and history!

This bat of mine came about when I was eating at the hawker center (food court) near the Raffles Place MRT so i batted it.
