I've missed so much good work! While the buildings are top-notch as usual, I find myself quite impressed by the office furniture. Excellent.

Thanks darknono and Aaron. I always wondered if I was doing it incorrectly... I was indeed using two scenes. So that means things might be delayed a tad, but I'll get cracking on redoing the lights tonight and this weekend. If it's the last thing I do, we're gonna have releases soon, danggit

Vlasky: I really hope so. Been quite busy with school stuff of late, but doing small things to move in that direction when I get the chance. In the future, I'm going to stick to one or two in the pipeline edwardjeria: Thanks for visiting and I do certainly hope to do some larger ones soon. darknono: Hehe thanks for turning me to those. I'm seeing more and more that they're quite useful. Going back to the RG&E building and switching the old bricks and such out. libellibicus: Thanks as always So I've been quietly testing these buggers in the past few weeks. They seem to work well, except the fact that the nightlights remain quite troublesome. The centering thing seemed to work great; however, I notice that my night scenes are somehow centering slightly off. Can't quite figure out why, but they seem to always shift around 3m on one axis. I'm starting to worry that I have subpar intelligence since no one else seems to be having this problem (temporarily forget the fact that I have maxis-night buildings next to it... Any further ideas as to what can be done?

Only thing I can think of is that the bitmap is not rotated right-side-up (happened to me on occasion) or the uvw map is not on the desired settings. Edit: darknono ninja'd in ahead

I rather like it currently, but I just wonder if it would do anything for the building to give it a slight yellow/tan look to better resemble the rest of the old Rockefeller Center. Though the white does give it a distinct character... Not really a problem (I've been trying to find a good solution for it myself), but the trees are noticeably variations on the AEC presets... I've come to think they're more épineux (shall we say) than they ought to be. I wonder if somehow reducing the leaf size might make them more realistic. Edit: These probably sound harsh; I should clarify that I think it's really nice and with some things addressed it could be one of your best works. -
I use 3ds max 2012 - I didn't realize at the time that 2013 was supported by bat4max. Ah well, seems to do well enough for me. With regard to what anotn said, I second the possibility of keeping it in max as the gmax download these days seems to be bundled with other things that are actually pretty nasty (the infamous babylon/incredibar search bars). Though if anyone has a path to a less skeevy gmax dl for future users, that'd probably be useful.

This actually has me intrigued; thanks for posting it!

I don't want to rain on your parade if you really do want those 6 intersections, but this might help.

Not sure how I missed these before today; I like these rowhouses a lot! Relocating the fire escapes did the trick.

gutterclub: I know I know I promise my first batch will be out soon. Don't want to keep them in the oven for too long after all libellibicus: I was actually thinking of doing FAR versions of them... I'm sure diagonal could be possible. And glad to hear Aaron Graham: Thanks, and I'll see what I can do about that. Ion_cannon: Thanks, I'm hoping the midrises will help fill some gaps. kifflom112: Thanks a lot darknono: Thanks; and you convinced me to finally have a look at procedural/composite textures and such. Now I might not go back to PS To that end, I played around a bit with composite materials to some decent results. Perhaps not refined enough, but that seems relatively easily done. First attempt. Same idea, just applied to the building. Some night lights for fun.

Hearty congrats to you on the award Your Rock-inspired tower is looking like it'll be quite nice. Also, that "home sweet home" means I'll be going back to the drawing board on a shingle texture for mine. Very nice job on yours. -
So since the thread has started to reap some 2-star ratings, I figured I should hop back on the ball. To explain my absence, my mouse died and, as you can imagine, a laptop tracking pad isn't terribly conducive to this work. Have a mouse now and am working to hopefully get a metric crapton of stuff uploaded asap. libellibicus, darknono, and edwardjeria: Thanks a lot jason: Thanks; I hear ya about roofs in general. I usually do them last (in terms of modelling), but with this building, the roof is essentially the only thing that's particularly interesting. The tower on the second part should add some flair, but this'll be a gritty industrial building. Also, thanks for the advice: I've re-centered it and am waiting to see if it worked. Being the bonehead I am, I forgot to bring the CD home with me for a week. Will test soon. Unfortunately, 1 isn't a prop... but I assume the overhang problem might apply to buildings just as well? ----------------- All of the original four are in their final stages. Here's something I whipped up today after being inspired by Andis' recent work (I won't even pretend they're half as good). Some little, cookie-cutter houses from my neighborhood.

It's looking great as usual. Pretty much the only thing I can find is that the shadow on the left side (on the incomplete building) doesn't look quite right; perhaps it's a bit too diffuse. But I'm not really sure one can do about that.
