Ped Mall Tile Connector

-----------------------

This lot is for use with the Network Addon Mod only. For information on the NAM, check out the massive discussion thread about it!

Use this lot to connect Ped Mall Tiles to other network tiles. Ped Mall Tiles come with the Network Addon Mod and can normally only be accessed via a directly attached mass transit stop.

Create your pedestrain mall as normal but place one or more Ped Mall Connectors between your mall and any roads / streets / avenues that you wish sims to be able to gain direct (walking) access from.

This lot has been created to match the second style of ped mall tile which is accessed through the tab key. In fact, the texture used for the Ped Mall is slightly lighter than the one that comes with SimCity - a shame. Maybe this can be sorted.

Check out the jpegs for an idea of how it works.

To install, copy the SC4lot file to your My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins folder.

You are free to modify and redistribute this lot as you wish. If you improve it, let me have a copy please! :-)

Enjoy.

Plop Cost - 40$

Bulldoze Cost - 10$

Minimal power, no water consumed

Slight Park Effect.

Monthly Cost - 1$

Max Capacity - 10,000 sims

This is good. I transformed a parking lot with the ped mall texture but it only lets 50 thru before getting conjested. I'll use this well.

Sim In The Shadows, looking good is not it's only function. There is a feature in the Network Addon Mod that allows people to create their own pedestrain malls. This lot is only usefull for those who have the NAM.

Good work. If this works with residential and agriculture im going to make an entire pedestrian city with no polution.

This is just what I was looking for! The NAM should have this built-in. One thing though: Buildings can't seem to be built along this tile (the "no road connection" icon appeared above some buildings when I replaces the old ped-mall tiles with these). Also, doesn't this belong in the road menu where the ped-mall tiles are located? Overall, though, 9/10!

Is there anyone who actually has this lot functional with a current NAM install? When I set up the lot between pedestrian mall and street as per the JPG and directions, it does not behave the same as a bus stop in the same tile. In other words, R zones on the street keep their no-road zots.

For what it's worth, the same thing happens with Deadwoods bike path transition tiles.

I don't get the point. What can I do with this that I cannot do with the pedmalls from NAM??

As the picture shows, the Sims are crossing the street to enter the Ped Mall, without this puzzle piece, you'd have to have the Bus Stop on the same side as the Ped Mall. The Bus Stop would actually have to be butted up against a Ped Mall piece for the Sims to access the Ped Mall, and wouldn't be able to cross the street to do so without this lot.

And for those who are getting the Zots, this puzzle piece is NOT meant to replace all your Ped Mall pieces. Don't place this puzzle piece directly in front of any zoned lots. Your zones should be connected to only regular Ped Mall puzzle pieces ONLY.

This piece is only to be used near a network switch to allow the Sims the ability to actually walk TO the Ped Mall,  and not have to switch to pedestrian from the transit switch that's directly touching the NAM Ped Mall pieces.

Pretty sure that's what the OP means in his description, and hope that helps with understanding how this lot actually works.

I'm actually looking forward to when it's time to use this lot when creating larger Ped Malls. This will allow the Sims to access the Ped Mall so much more efficient than the default NAM Ped Mall pieces.

Nice thinking!! 4/5
