  1. Graphics Rendering Problem?

    Hi, It is installed from the SC4 CD and Rush Hour addon CD. I have installed the EP1 / 8638 patch and the SC4Update4Bat. I have an I7 laptop with Intel 4600 and Nvidia 750M graphics but had switched to software rendering. With software rendering, the only issue is the missing range circle but with hardware rendering, there are lots of disappearing objects, scrolling issues and more (but the range circles do appear). I tried editing the srg files to get HW rendering working but no joy and reading stuff on the net, concluded people prefer software. It doesn't crash so no log file. In case anyone comes across the same problem in future, I fixed it by sticking to software mode but editing the Graphics.sgr file, changing the standard software rule. This seems to override the config screen in the game. Thanks PM Graphics Rules.sgr.txt
  2. Hi, I have been trying to get SC4 working on Windows 8.1 and cannot quite get there. I have set the compatibility options in Windows an switched to software rendering. It works fine except for transparency isn't quite right. Before placing some objects, they are very hard to see - as if they are too transparent. The main problem though is that the service buildings such as schools, fire stations, police stations do not have their circular radius of influence showing. The bright overlayed blue circle for police or red circle for fire that shows how far reaching the impact of that station is - I just can't get it to appear. If I switch graphics to DirectX then the circles do work but then I have all sorts of issues with objects not rendering, scrolling not working and zoom also. Does anyone have any suggestions - I have scoured the net and can find nothing? Thanks PM

  4. NAM: Requests

    I would really like to see the 'raised ground rail' puzzle pieces implemented. If they are, could the start and end pieces be made much longer, say 6 x 1 so the gradient the trains climb is less steep. The 3 x 1 climbs are unrealistically steep! Most realistic of all would be if a piece could be made that joins the puzzle pieces to terraformed ground at the same (raised) level, rather like the rail over road bridge illistrated above.     I think this is excellent. Very original. It would be good to have a plain brick lot, with supports, or arch without glass, just brick filled. It can look a little repetitive on long runs.

    Sim In The Shadows, looking good is not it's only function. There is a feature in the Network Addon Mod that allows people to create their own pedestrain malls. This lot is only usefull for those who have the NAM.

    Ped Mall Tile Connector ----------------------- This lot is for use with the Network Addon Mod only. For information on the NAM, check out the massive discussion thread about it! Use this lot to connect Ped Mall Tiles to other network tiles. Ped Mall Tiles come with the Network Addon Mod and can normally only be accessed via a directly attached mass transit stop. Create your pedestrain mall as normal but place one or more Ped Mall Connectors between your mall and any roads / streets / avenues that you wish sims to be able to gain direct (walking) access from. This lot has been created to match the second style of ped mall tile which is accessed through the tab key. In fact, the texture used for the Ped Mall is slightly lighter than the one that comes with SimCity - a shame. Maybe this can be sorted. Check out the jpegs for an idea of how it works. To install, copy the SC4lot file to your My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins folder. You are free to modify and redistribute this lot as you wish. If you improve it, let me have a copy please! :-) Enjoy.   9. NAM General Discussion Thread

    I would REALLY like to see this become a reality... It would give us much more flexibility and realism. Also, would it be possible to convert the ANT into kind of a pedestrian network? Like the Ped Malls you've been designing but you could drag it like dragging roads. We could use it to separate sky scrapers and provide routes between them for people to walk from bus stops and tube stations. Thanks for all the hard work you have put into this. It's cool.
