About This File

History

Thirty-nine Dutch coasters had escaped the occupation of the Netherlands by the Germans on 10 May 1940 and were asked by the Dutch shipping bureau in London or by the Royal Navy to assist. The Dutch coasters, able to approach the beaches very closely due to their flat bottoms, rescued 22,698 men in total.
The MV Rian, a 35-metre (115 ft) ship of 300 tons dwt built in 1934 in the province of Groningen, saved 2,542 men between 28 and 31 May 1940 under Captain D. Buining, the most men saved amongst the Dutch coasters.. Other Dutch coasters that saved more than 1,000 men each were.

Good to see a qualitative addition to SC4 boats, so rare. A non-ortho version would be welcomed too.

THIS is even better than the tanker !!

Love the background story -- the "Miracle Of Dunkirk" would have been impossible without ships like these.

Again -- the attention to detail is superb, and the colors and textures are "TO DIE FOR' !!

These small craft are absolutely perfect for use in any harbor, and will lend realism to any scene.

Bring us MORE -- MORE !!

(A couple of tramp steamers or Liberty ships would be GREAT!!)
