About This File

Hi Sim bros and sis,

This is my first time uploading a lot. I know this is not perfect yet but after many times playing SC4, then I had an idea if I can mod a lot to have two buildings and functions in one lot. So then finally I can make this and hopefully it will give you fun.

This mod consists of two lots:

1. BobHPB - Security Center Head Quarter: Provide integrated police and fire department functions. Can dispatch both police and fire trucks. It generate income as well as cost.

2. BobHPB - Security Operational Administration Office: Support the head quarters with 2 unit cops and 2 units fire trucks, also a jail in this lot complex.

This lot actually can help you in plopping services in one instance, so it can make you easy to plop the police dept and fire dept, and also give you an aesthetic touch of the view from the complex that can make your city beautiful. Each lot can be separately plopped. If you dont have enough simeleon and still in small town development, then you can plop the Operational office only.

Hiya, @BobbyHPB.

I notice this list for Dependencies:

- BSC files
- PEG files
- CSX files
- jasoncw - Central Police Station
- X-ports files from ACTeam
- LBT Mega Prop
- SFBT
- European Cars prop
- RTMTV3
- Bldg_prop 1 & 2
- Vehicle_Props-V3.dat (include)
- Emergency4 Fire Truck v1.1.dat (Include)

It is traditional to make those be clickable linkys to the exact deps needed. Also, for the included Vehicle_Props-V3.dat and Emergency4 Fire Truck v1.1.dat files, are those your own creations? Or are they available elsewhere online?

For those two files you don't know where they came from, you could post in the Can't Find It thread and say:

Hiya,

This is a little bit different than looking for content. I have two files I'm using as dependencies for a file I've uploaded and I need to find where they can be found so I can add the links to them. The files I have are:

  • Vehicle_Props-V3.dat
  • Emergency4 Fire Truck v1.1.dat

Thanks.

well...I am sorry that cannot provide the link, since there are tons of plugins and my net is very bad during downloading and uploading, then I just ask my friend to give me plugins...I have long time not installed SC4, I bought it maybe around 2010...and got a chance to installed it last 4 months ago...I started to play SC4 due to COVID-19 for killingtime...then am a bit frustrated for the difficulties then I communicated with my friend who really like playing this stuf and he gave me plugins in a hard disk...but no information about the files since it all already in SC4Lot and Dat format...so I have no clue regarding the files...but some of plugins I got it from online and I know the source that is why the dependencies were listed...

This is turning out to be unfortunate because you obviously enjoy creating and sharing your work. However, including files which you don't have permission for is against STEX rules.

At this point we have two choices.

First is to remove the two .dat files which you have not obtained permission to include and re-upload your file. Then update the description so peeps know they are not included in the download. Peeps will have to search for all the deps on their own. If you go this route, you will likely receive a lot of negative feedback since no one will really know what dependencies are needed.

The second option is I'll hide this entry so no one can leave said unpleasant comments.

I believe that the fire truck is probably from Fanta. He made several in the Emergency 4 series. The vehicles prop 3 file could be Gizmo's.  I'll look for links since both may be difficult to get from the original sites.

@BobbyHPB

It's nice what you've made here for your 1st SC4 creation. Please be encouraged as it's great that you wanted to share what you've made with the community. With dependencies and it certainly can be hard with knowing what to do with those, and tracking them down for what's used is very difficult to do afterwards. It isn't easy, and all part of learning the process which makes that task simpler.

I suspect looking at your preview pics and there's probably not too many custom dependencies used. The main ones will be the bldgprops which are what allow Maxis buildings to appear as props, and they can be found on this page.

Just a little tip in future...

One good strategy when lotting is to begin with a completely empty Plugins folder. Then only add new items which might be worth using as a dependency. This way at the most, the only prop and texture packs needed will be those you add into Plugins when lotting.

Therefore there's less guesswork involved for which dependencies are needed, and they can be easily listed. If ever you'd like help in locating any in particular, feel free to post in the CFI thread as @CorinaMarie linked to above. There's many helpful people able to assist.

You're very welcome to the site, and do keep creating. *:)

Okay, I believe the fire truck will be in this file uploaded by @apeek. He obtained permission to upload Fanta's files years ago:

https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/29346-firetruck-expansion-pack/

Gizmo's can be found here. I think that version 4 is an update to version 3 if I remember what he posted on his site:

Wow...all good informations...I didnt expect that I will have bunch of helps from all of you guys...(thanks again anyway)....

So what I ve done is just a lil creation I made to improve my other creation...and about the dependencies...next time I ll try the best to minimize it...because actually I am lazy to design a new structures or building since I am not a designer or cad guys or image editor, I am only consultant and just about a week ago learning how to mod...so the easiest way to mod is utilizing existing mods that I dont get rid off to learn other things...hehehe....

well again...thanks...I am continue working from home (my moding time after work is between 8 PM to 9 PM only...and the rest of the night left I play SC4 and finishing the entire area...)...by the way...I just notice that I also can make a map...perhaps, tomorrow I can start to make the map...hopefully I can learn fast too...

Indeed, the Emergency 4 Series is from Fanta. There is a STEX link for it

The Vehicle props v3 is from Gizmo, but that should not be used for new lots at all. it's a higly outdated prop set. It only serves to cover really old (2003-2005) lots on STEX, but otherwise if Gizmo Vehicles, then the Vehicle Props v4 should be used which is available on LEX.

Gizmo's Vehicle Prop Pack v3

By the way, I just checked with the SC4 Tool, and in the above list, these are NOT dependencies at all:
- LBT Mega Prop
- RTMTV3
- European Cars prop

@BobbyHPBAlthough I found 2-3 missing dependencies.
5ee2ceb00dd4c_Missingdeps.jpg.297a963c45b3ab7d22c641e2322c94d8.jpg

On the left (black circle), there is a missing prop which has the same rectangle size as the JasonCW Police Center. So I don't know, because that building totally covers that prop.
However on the right side, the white buildings (2 of the same prop) and between the two taller buildings, there is a missing prop too. Without their name I can't finde those.

@CaptCity
The dependency is Gizmo's Vehicle prop v3. Many others made the same mistake. If somewhere the V3 is listed, then that is the dependency. The V4 is an updated version (IID-wise), but contains the very same props, but with new IIDs, therefore they can co-exist next to each other, and the V4 will NOT rule the V3 out. The V4 won't work as a dependency, if the V3 is listed. It's a common problem, that some people still use the old outdated V3 as dependency, because they don't know about the changes or never did care about it.

Otherwise this is the correct dep list (besides those missing props showed above). Someone else needs to hunt down the links, because I don't have the patience to do that:

AC MEGA Props Vol09.dat

Hiya, Bobby.

As I know Tibi included that list to help you out, I can say with confidence he won't mind for you to copy and paste the list into your file description. ( Ofc, add a note of thanks when you do. *;) )

Ideally, those would still need found on the exchanges to make them clickable URLs.
