About This File

Rialto Towers, Melbourne, Australia

Rialto Towers is a 251m 63 floor office building in Collins Street, Melbourne. Built in the early 1980's, Rialto Towers is distinctive in the Melbourne skyline for its bright blue lights around the tops of the the two different height glass towers.

Rialto Towers is the tallest office building in the Southern Hemisphere. (source: Wikipedia)

This is version 2 of my first BAT.

In response to feedback provided:

  • There is now a Dark Nite (xx_DN) version and a Maxis Night (xx_MN) version.
  • Rialto Towers is now a CO§§§ Functional Landmark, offering 6351 jobs, costs §110,000 to build, with a monthly cost of §150
  • The lot is now 4x6 (and includes an outdoor cafe eatery area for visual interest)

There are no Prop dependencies, although the Dark Nite version requires SimFox_Day_n_Nite_Modd.

The only thing I didn't do is make it growable - Personal choice.

Hope you like it.

Please check out my Melbourne BAT thread as well.

I like that you've made an effort to address the (minor) issues people complained about. Good attitude.

Great work--I love the new bottom! My only complaint (to the chagrin of others I'm sure) is not enough dependencies. Some better trees at the bottom (CP or VIP) would make it look a lot better. Also, some of those trees seem to be in a driving area, which probably doesn't need to be there. Minor things of course, but you've already shown yourself to be interested and responsive to constructive criticism so there's my two cents. I still can't believe what a beautiful building this is for a new creator!

I think it's great that you made an effort to rework this, that's a good attitude. Unfortunately the base is still lacklustre: poor textures and what's with the glass facade? It's like it disappears towards the podium. The mirrored glass is a nice touch, and it looks great at night, but you went a bit overboard and it shows at the base. Textures still need some work, and the lot is less than remarkable. The tower itself looks great, and the shape and colour add visual interest to any downtown. Neon blue nightlights look fantastic. Touch up the base and you've got a great piece.

Very impressed with this building. Wonderful detail and an added bonus is that it uses Maxia Night.

Reflections are perfect! This is just what it looks like in real life. The base is improved, still drab, but that is what the real thing is like.
Looking forward to your future creations!
