About This File

6x6 Growable R$ Experimental Underground Community for 6433 Sims.

Use of the Cobb Troglodyte Complex requires mayors with a sense of
humor and a sense of adventure.

The Troglodyte Complex is a massive underground experimental
planned community for lower income sims. The residental units
lie on many levels below ground level. Being an underground
community, it takes advantage of geothermal energy for electricity
and heat. It makes use of its roof space for solar power, and some
limited food recycling and water treatment. The troglodyte complex
draws its water supply directly from the water table. The complex
attempts to blend with the land and city scape, rather than detract
from the skyline like typical large, dark R$ towers.

The Cobb Troglodyte Complex thrives on public transportation, so
making nearby space for bus stops and rail lines is highly
recommended. Hold the ctrl key to zone for 6x6. Zone for high
density.

LOT Statistics:
GROWABLE R$
Occupants: 6433
Lot Size: 6x6
Growth Stage: stage 7
Zone Type: Dense residential
Value: § 84500
Worth / Bulldoze Cost: § 1500
Flammability: 35 / Stage 4
Power consumed: 50 MWh/month
Water consumed: 125 gallons/month
Air pollution: 5 over 5 tiles
Water pollution: 20 over 5 tiles
Garbage generated: 12 tons/month

The complex was created due to repeated requests for a R$
building. Since the Cobb Firm was unfamiliar with how to create
one, they went with something experimental. (The original model
was created for a 5x5, but the render seemed to have other ideas).

This model could easily be adapted as an industrial building with
the Lot editor.

Big thanks to Tracker for my new logo for 2006.

I hope you enjoy the Cobb Troglodyte Complex. Don't take it too
seriously, and have fun!
--COBB

Wow, really neat. I like how you made the building take adveantage of solar power and geothermal energy. It sort of takes on the theme of the arcos from SC2000.

I wouldn't want a lot of these growing, but it's definitely a nice change from the usual R$!

Meh, as a very big fan of your work, I honestly have to say that this isn't my favorite. To me, this lot doesn't come anywhere near to showing your BAT skill. Also, I make realistic cities, so this just isn't for me. 10 anyways because I don't believe in the rating system.

I thought, when I made Cobb's new logo, that the old logo was out of touch with Simtropolis as it is today. The new logo keeps the diamond motif used, but drops the number 32118 at the end and "BAT Designer". The elimination of the latter was because BATs went from contraband in 2004 (to quote Cobb: "2004 was a century ago in online gaming time") to very commonplace in 2006. I hope you like the logo (made using GraphX equipment). Tracker

Looks like a junky step backward for your work to me. Your work is usually among my favourite.

underground sounds cool, but when we talk 6,4k ppl, it becomes irrelistic, plus the roof should just have lots of air fans to pump and filtrate the air.

I think the humor in this has gotten lost since people don't read the description. But you guys do know what a "troglodyte" is, right? The idea was that people keep asking me to do a R$, which isn't my style. So if you bury the poor sims underground, you don't have to look at the low wealth buildings. So, as I said in the description, don't take it too seriously. --Cobb :-)

Troglodyte was what my mother used to call my brother as he never came out of his room lol Even today he's a typical 'cave dweller'. If he ever saw the sun I think his eyes would explode! lol As you say, the humour seems to have been lost, but not here ... my kind of off-beat humour!

not one of your better ones, cobb. I don't like, maybe because Im more of a 'realistic' mayor, but I know there will be others that will.

Looks sorta brutalist.Cobb i know this may be rude but good textured buildings are a must nowadays, the textures you use are way to bright.i know this wasnt such an issue in 2004 but alot has changed, now people go for gradients and what not.The people who comment on the stex are also A LOT more pickier now than they used to be,that can be pretty annoying sometimes.Try getting some better textures and you will integrate in the 2006 era of the stex better. For the modeling though it's a 9.

i'm sure some people here has ancestry dating back to the middle ages where they were cursing people who started the renaissance, come on people there's really nothing to be scared of in innovation and creativity . This looks like a physically sustainable complex, it's a bit sci-fi I agree, but everything was sci-fi once and now we call them technology. So thanks for the creativity, there's nothing wrong in breaking established paradigms, be it in architecture, art or whatever... 10/10
