  2. Biggest Failure of CXL?

I haven't played the game, so I cannot properly judge, however I can tell from these responses that I would not like this game as much as my beloved Sim City 4. Sim City 4 has some charm about it that cannot be taken away. In a sense, I like its unique 2.5d view (or whatever it is) and its simple graphics. This new game seems to be defining a game of their own, which is absolutely understandable, however I think that I can speak for a lot of people when I say Sim City 4 isn't too far off. Even though it's pretty old for a PC game, Sim City 4 still has a faithful following, thanks to user-content, and its fun gameplay. In the end, it seems to be a shame that a great city simulator would be the equivalent of Sim City 4 with some major (but far from impossible) upgrades. The community here has already altered the game significantly with creations, however a new game would definitely feed the fans.
  3. Screenshots (Pre-Release)

I have big doubts about this game, i'm not sure what it is but it doesn't look 'right'? Maybe i'm soo used to seeing SimCity 4, but this looks a tad cartoonish for me. SimCity4 may have had bad graphics but at least the cities looked and felt real to me based on the textures. MOST of these screenshots it seems like the textures are too clean, the roads are too wide. I love the terrain though, thats a plus. I know it's only the beta version right now but thats just how I see it so far...
  4. City Convetion Center

    wow...very interesting
  5. Hi everyone, I am hoping to do a music video thingie for the contest thing. I want to display the array of cities this community has created so I am looking for all city journalers! It would be awesome if you could send me your BEST picture from your cj and put it in this thread along with the name of the city preferably. One picture or at max 3 would be great. The song I am using is fairly long so I think i'll have time to include all submissions depending on how many I get. Again, this would be a GREAT help for me, plus your CJ will appear in my contest submission which isn't a bad thing either, right? Thanks, Shpangler
  6. MP Rio Theater

this is awesome!! Fits perfectly in cities and the textures are fine. Keep 'em coming...
  7. NG Xenon Labs

really good, looks exactly like some of the high-tech buildings found where I live.
  8. HK The Harbourside v2

WOW...simply amazing. Anyone could make almost an entire city with all the Hong Kong BAT's you have uploaded! Many thanks
  9. Bank Of China Shanghai

brilliant blue lighting towards the top there! Good job.
  10. Simtropolis: A Tired Brand

yeah i've been here for almost 3 years now (i know i only have like 30 something posts) but to me, with the release of the pictures of Cities Unlimited, there has been much more activity than usual.
  11. Cities Unlimited

despite how many posts I have written, I have been a member of Simtropolis for over 2 years now (which is still new to some of you 'oldies'!) Anyways, like everyone else here, I think we are all extremely impressed at how the development team for Cities Unlimited is involving themeselves toward this community. Even though it's a smart move on their behalf, it's also a great way for us to potentially shape the next great city simulation game. As for input? I don't have much, except that I love transportation networks, and I say: "The more transportation options, the better!" After all, a city is barely a city without a network of roads, trains, highways...all of that good stuff. Other things like zoning and the ability to terraform I think are other important parts of any city game. From some of the screenshots, I can tell that weather will be an issue in City Unlimited. I think this is a great idea as it is very realistic (Some cities are defined by their weather patterns.) Custom content is another HUGE thing: Custom buildings, landmarks, and maps are a huge reason why Sim City 4 is still popular and fun (even after all these years) I won't expect Cities Unlimited to support custom content at such an early stage, however it would be a really nice feature somewhere down the line. Just from the pictures of the game, I really like the direction it is going in, even if there is much more work to be done. Anyways, I just wanted to put my two cents in. I wasn't going to post, but after seeing the developement team actually looking at our 'rambles' I thought I might as well lend my opinion. On a final note, thanks again to the staff at Cities Unlimited, and lets hope that the final product will keep us interested in the city simulation genre!
  12. NDEX Zeniathus Plaza by EB and DT Lot Revision

wow, no one has commented on this creation of beauty!? Oh well, looks great.
  13. Well, it's official: the Burj Dubia has surpassed Toronto's CN Tower as the world's tallest free-standing structure. Although the CN Tower is no longer the tallest, it held that title for over 30 years, and now the 'torch' has been passed on. Does anyone else have views/opinions about this?
  14. Burj Khalifa

i've been following this beast too! When it is released it will undoubtedly be the best BAT on this site (although than can be debated.) Just the sheer time to create this is very inspiring. I really hope it works out correctly and eventually we'll have a nice building to put in our cities.
  15. CACC Chrysalis Tower

not bad, not bad I actually like the nightlights even if they are really bright. Yeah just put some better textures on the roof an you'll have yourself an A+ BAT!
