It's late on a Friday for me, but before I forget, do you think that there could be an intuitive way of hiding the camera controls button? The button always being there isn't that great for screenshots. Thanks again!
-
I actually like ShareX as a utility for taking screenshots across Windows. I have a hotkey for screenshotting the active monitor. The game's screenshot tool remains useful for me, though, for file naming and organization.

Thanks to the responses here, I've been gathering content from STEX Volumes 1 and 2 and organizing them. Though I got those two volumes from a shady source long ago when the discs themselves are from even before my time even observing the community, I've learned a few things since obtaining those .ISO files. 1.) There are "right" ways to rip discs (byte for byte methods), and there are wrong ways. The Redump people will tell you how to dump your discs for video games preservation, and people who are into music will tell you how to rip your music CDs. 2.) Since moving into my own apartment in 2019, I spent a lot of time feeling like my interests were "wrong." Obviously, they're not.... but my mother gave me an external hard drive from my old room in her house after moving in here. Those .iso files were on there. Back when I traded in all my games in 2016, which I don't regret for a second, I left my CD booklet with all my exchange discs, burned or official, in it at the games store. But while feeling like my interests were "wrong," I did delete all my SimCity 4 files. I'd go on mass file-deleting sprees. It was my way of dealing with stress. And then, I'd want my files back....so I'd restore my files through Backblaze Personal. And then, one day, I noticed that some of my exchange disc ISOs were gone after a restore! I had to dig further back into the archive with one year of retention to find the files. There are some things I can't find anymore through all that because I'd even feel so confident that I wouldn't need my files anymore that I'd delete my backup archive from within Backblaze, too! One such example is a specific HD texture pack for the Wii game Metroid: Other M from the Dolphin forums for the Dolphin Wii/GameCube emulator where the creator of the texture pack removed their posts from the Dolphin forums. Whatever, though. I've moved on from Backblaze Personal because it clearly can't be trusted now. So maybe, some checksums got altered through all that on my part. I have no idea. Well, anyway, thanks for the breakdown on STEX Volumes 1 and 2 nearly a year ago, @CorinaMarie and @pikachu_SQ. Both discs come with a "bonus" or "extra" folder, depending on the volume, which made identifying the potentially exclusive files easy. I looked through the Cleanitols in the BSC dependencies collection that's on SC4E to find gasometer.dat and GC_Essentials.dat from gascooker_gasometers on STEX Volume 1 in the Cleanitols. That left me with only the SC4Lot files for gascooker_gasometers.

I came across something else. It's not the biggest deal when the SC4AutoRunCheats DLL cheat exists, but with version 1.0 of your camera mod, I cannot enter "a" in the moolah cheat because it's a part of WASD. Though by disabling WASD movement, I am able to enter the cheat. So, that would work as a workaround, too. Thank you for the update!

Turnstyled replied to comradesean's topic in SimCity 3000
@comradesean I tried the Lost Kingdoms installer on my installation of SimCity 3000 Unlimited. It resulted in the Lost Kingdom landmark names being present, but the thumbnails were shown as blank in the Landmarks menu. Also, when I plopped them, all that plopped down was colored tiles. Was this download for vanilla SimCity 3000 Unlimited? Thank you for all your work! -

I feel pretty dang satisfied with my "SimCity 4 Content Outside of sc4pac, STEX, & SC4E" directory, which can be seen below. I wanted to share my "Assorted Japanese and Chinese Content" directory within that directory seen above. It's dated 2019. I don't know how much, if anything, is something that hasn't yet been collected. It's not organized, either. The .zip is less than 200 megabytes. Please find it below on OneDrive and on Transfer.it. Also, please find below the HTML file with the directory listing generated by Snap2HTML. The OneDrive link will probably last longer than the Transfer.it link will because I'll probably still be paying for Microsoft 365 after my free year is up. OneDrive: Assorted Japanese and Chinese Content.zip Transfer.it: https://transfer.it/t/GCUfAO5RURIb Snap2HTML Directory Listing: Assorted Japanese and Chinese Content.html I will never share my WolfZe directory, by the way, because I understand the trouble that sharing that directory would create. -
@pikachu_SQ I spent today downloading what was in the seven links within the original post of this thread. I used the Chrome browser extension Linkclump (https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/linkclump/lfpjkncokllnfokkgpkobnkbkmelfefj) to make gathering the individual links easier, and I used the Chrome browser extension SingleFile (https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/singlefile/mpiodijhokgodhhofbcjdecpffjipkle) to download the individual webpages. I might've missed some downloads or webpages. It was a very tiring effort for me. Also, trying to take care of each of the seven individual sections in a single browser window would nearly max out my system RAM (64 GB) and downloading all of those webpages using Save Page WE would max out my CPU usage. I initially thought that I was going to save English translated versions of each webpage using the built-in translation functionality of my web browser (Microsoft Edge), but I then realized that any modern web browser can translate local .html files. Would you like me to upload all this zipped to OneDrive and Mega's Transfer.it service to ease things for others in the community? I will only do that with your permission. If you say no, then I will keep my archive for my own personal usage. Please find attached an HTML view of my archive's file structure. Thank you so much! Korean Content.html

I'm sorry. I just have the entire thing uploaded into one archive file. I'm certain that there's a much more efficient way of doing this, but I don't want to overextend myself right now. -
I know that this was said a while ago, but I can totally vouch for that browser extension! I used to use Save Page WE, which I believe is also a Chrome/Firefox extension. Single File is much, much better, though! And yes, my mother is watching the French TV and seeing plenty of stories about the heat wave in Europe! She was supposed to go to Spain for a vacation before she had that broken arm only to find that it was 46 degrees in Bilbao. I never really cared enough about units of measurement to think much about conversion between what's used in the United States and what's...not used in the United States, but that number feels unusually high to me. I hope I didn't distract too much from site suggestions!

Turnstyled's Trials and Tribulations with Cities: Skylines and SimCity 4 (TTATWCSASC4)!
Turnstyled replied to Turnstyled's topic in General Off-Topic
Okay, soooooo............. With some work, I was able to get ReShade AND Special K working together in SimCity 4 using dgVoodoo2. Apparently, there's an "illicit" kind of Special K. I'm not talking about that, and I don't know much about it, anyway. I'm talking about the "computer games" kind of Special K. I don't have the latest paid version of Pascal Gilcher's IMMERSE shaders for ReShade, not like the super advanced stuff would ever matter in SimCity 4, so I'm using the latest version of his IMMERSE sharpening shader. I might keep it enabled. It adjusts the lighting, but with these kinds of games, things look blurry for me without that shader. I always keep that shader enabled in Cities: Skylines and Cities: Skylines II. SimCity 4 would definitely look oversharpened at the shader's default (and maximum) settings to many. Here are some C$$$ ploppables with the day/night cycle off, and with the sharpening shader off: And here are the same ploppables with RTX DLSS 5 the sharpening shader on: I'm going to keep the sharpening shader on. Another nice benefit of Special K is that I've configured it to have SimCity 4 continue rendering in the background. No more music stopping because I click to another monitor! Edit: Oh! Also, Special K allows for Alt-F4 handling to close SimCity 4! -
Turnstyled's Trials and Tribulations with Cities: Skylines and SimCity 4 (TTATWCSASC4)!
Turnstyled posted a topic in General Off-Topic
Hi, all! It felt a little inappropriate to keep posting in my thread in the SimCity 4 General Discussion sub-forum thread in the SimCity 4 subforum, so here I am in General Off-Topic! I spent the past day playing with ReShade, Special K, and DXVK in Cities: Skylines. I tried getting Special K to work in SimCity 4 to no avail. Special K is referred to, at least by its community, as "the Swiss army knife of PC gaming" because "it does a little bit of everything." DXVK is a translation layer that translates DirectX to Vulkan. I hope I said that right enough. ReShade gives you post-processing effects in PC games. I first tried using DXVK in Cities: Skylines on Windows. Crazy, I know. People have had good results using something made for Linux on Windows, though. I then tried Special K. You can use Special K and DXVK together, but it's not of much use because Special K doesn't have much support for Vulkan. Unfortunately, Special K's texture cache is broken in Cities: Skylines. I had to disable it. Check out a screenshot with incorrect textures: And here is a screenshot with correct textures: This is not a winter map. It's the new Monterey map by TeddyRadko and Alex: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2918607759&searchtext= Oh, right. Special K makes it easy for me to play Cities: Skylines using Nvidia's DLDSR at 5760 x 3240 in borderless fullscreen. I also enabled Nvidia Reflex within Special K for lower input latency within Cities: Skylines. I'm not certain that it's going to do anything that I'd ever notice. I don't have screenshots from my time trying out ReShade, but I had a lot of fun with it trying out various effects. I tried many CRT, VHS, and "retro" terminal effects. I tried a Pip-Boy from Fallout effect. I tried an effect that makes things look cel-shaded. Despite all those fancy effects, I really liked Pascal Gilcher's sharpening filter. I'll be playing with it enabled. I also love that the new Steam Big Picture mode based on the Steam Deck UI is now out in the stable branch of the Steam client. Thus, I get the Steam Deck on-screen keyboard. This keyboard theme right below is the one that you got for purchasing the 512 gigabyte Steam Deck model: I plan to sell my game controllers in the very near future. The only controllers that I will keep will be my Xbox Elite Series 2 controller, my PlayStation 5 DualSense controller (because I find the haptic triggers to be neat), and my Steam controller. There was a good amount of time in which the rear paddles for the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller did not work in the reWASD controller remapper suite on the latest controller firmware. Perhaps, they did not work with Steam Input, either. Well, they now work with both reWASD and Steam Input. I bought replacement sticks and paddles from SCUF. With those replacement sticks and paddles, I find the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller to be very pleasant. I also have ControlFreek grips on my DualSense's sticks. I don't handle PlayStation sticks well. Soon, I'll be trying to create fake stereoscopic 3D support in Cities: Skylines using Virtual Desktop and ReShade. Wish me luck... If that doesn't work at all, then I'll be stuck with a headset that plays Cities: Skylines on a "flat" screen in VR. Edit: Oh, right! I was also looking for a way to get Cities: Skylines to span over multiple monitors without using Nvidia Surround or AMD Eyefinity. I found a simple solution! It's called Simple Runtime Window Editor: dtgDTGdtg/SRWE: Simple Runtime Window Editor (github.com). I'd totally buy three of the same monitor to get Cities: Skylines spanned over triple displays. I just read a news piece that said that the Dead Space remake runs much better with Resizable BAR enabled. I doubt it'll do anything for Cities: Skylines, but I enabled Resizable BAR for Cities: Skylines using Nvidia Profile Inspector. Apparently, the Dead Space remake does so well with Resizable BAR enabled because it has assets streaming into it all the time. Also, rsc204 explained to me why Process Lasso is snake oil for the most part on modern Windows. I did some more looking into it. Maybe, games still exist that perform better with HyperThreading disabled. That is a scenario in which Process Lasso would be helpful, because it can automate the disabling of HyperThreading for specific processes. I won't be renewing my Process Lasso subscription and I'll be uninstalling it. I'm looking into buying an Intel i9-13900KS CPU to replace my Intel i9-12900K. I think I'll go with AMD next time because I've read good things about the effects of CPUs with 3D V-Cache on simulation games. Additionally, all the corporate shuffles taking place at Intel don't exactly inspire confidence. -
This mod "in beta" is great! It makes using the 3D camera mod a lot easier. I also love being able to step in to so many different zoom levels! Feedback that I have is that it breaks mouse wheel scrolling through the UI. If you can't implement anything to fix that, that's okay.

Looks it hasn't left Simtropolis! It's still here! If needed, I can upload the file to Mega, too...because I was trying to figure out a personal backup plan now that Backblaze Personal is not a backup service to be relied upon. I ultimately settled on uploading my data to Google Cloud using an open-source utility called Kopia. In the middle of all that, I got a subscription to Mega and I tried using Mega's Amazon Web Services S3-compatible storage solution. Attached is an HTML view of what's in that folder. That's better than a bunch of screenshots. I'll get to uploading it to Mega, too. By the way, I'm keeping a "Simtropolis Uploads" folder on my PC in case "disaster" ever strikes again! z20_Single Sites_1.html Edit: Here's the file on Mega via Mega's Transfer.it service. I have the file set to expire in one year. I'll keep making minimal payments for a Mega subscription for a little while. https://transfer.it/t/XU91pGoDBDKQ -
What a nightmare for me. I have this game from GOG and I'm on the latest Windows 11 25H2 with a 4K monitor. I'm trying dgVoodoo2 and dxwrapper...along with the patched .exe from GOG. I can't get my Windows 98 PC running again soon enough. I ditched my CRT monitor. I'd rather use a modern monitor, preferably a 4K OLED, and a RetroTINK-4K upscaler. Right now, I have an MK1869 XTREME ISA sound card for MS-DOS games in it, but I was able to get in on the latest batch of the Orpheus II. The MK1869 XTREME is great with Theme Hospital because Theme Hospital natively supports ESS ESFM, and I believe The Settlers II does as well. I believe that the Orpheus II with its Crystal controller and original Yamaha OPL3 chip is a better overall choice for a system that tries to cover as much as possible, though. Also, I was in some pretty dire straits recently, so I sold my Voodoo5 5500. I wish I didn't, of course. Either way, I'm makin' myself sick trying to get SimCity 3000 Unlimited working on my Windows 11 machine here. I'm not selling things anymore, but I sold a number of Orpheus II and Voodoo5 5500 cards in the past some years in what I was feeling. I sold my latest Voodoo5 5500 card because I had to. Edit: Now THIS is what I'm talkin' about! I was able to get SimCity 3000 Unlimited running on my offline 1440p Windows 10/Nvidia 3D Vision PC doing EXACTLY what I did on my "up to date" Windows 11 PC! This is why I keep legacy systems around! I'd still like to get my Windows 98 system up and running again!

In early 2022, I tried to capture as much as possible from sites, whether they were Japanese or "international" sites. I did this through both "download" and "webcopy" methods. Did my OneDrive link that I provided in one of the groups ever help? Because I definitely have content from Jim's OneDrive and MayorOverpop's Junkyard. The giant .zip file is still in my OneDrive, and I'd be willing to share the link to it again! -
No organization, either!

Turnstyled replied to City_Slider's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
@CorinaMarie Thank you so much! I remember the Side Water Shoppe thread. I might experiment a bit further, but for now, 32 for both WaterMinAlpha and WaterDepthForMaxAlpha looks great to me. I like the Gobias HD Bodensee water. It's not TOO bright like Gobias's Caribbean water. (Note to self: Look up where in the world "Bodensee" is!) I was going to ask if the @CasperVg's CAS_AutoHistorical_v0.0.2 DLL and it's corresponding .dat that were on SC4Devotion still had any use with the AutoSave DLL mod, but I see that it has some functionality outside of its autosave functionality. Also, I did a search on the "new" SC4Devotion and I found the files. So much is available through sc4pac. More and more downloads are being updated to "modern standards" through Project ZIP. So many of the downloads on SC4Evermore have Cleanitols included. The community is a giant of governing gifts. Stand tall, Simtropolis. Stand tall. Edit: I didn't want to open SimCity 4 to see what I was going to misquote! -

Thanks! I just skipped to the recommended settings! So, it seems to me that if I want more transparent water, then I should set a lower value for WaterMinAlpha and a higher value for WaterDepthForMaxAlpha. I'll try 32 or 50 for for WaterMinAlpha (but probably 32) and 32 for WaterDepthForMaxAlpha. -

Thanks! Well, I don't want to dig into Reader for too much, but it'd probably problematic to pile a beach extend mod and Diagonal Jagged Edges Mod on top of Gobias Sudden Valley, so I've changed some values for Sudden Valley from sc4pac using Reader. Following this guide, I changed MaxNormalYForCliff to .77 to match Diagonal Jagged Edges Mod. I also changed MaxBeachWidth to 5 and MaxBeachAltitude to 3. I took a quick look at Gizmo's Water Flora in Reader and I promptly removed it from my plugins folder. I know that it's a very old mod, but it modifies a lot that I don't want it to modify. Now, following the guide, I placed Sorchin's Water Flora in 075-my-plugins, but I found that the guide didn't do a very good job of explaining what WaterMinAlpha and WaterDepthForMaxAlpha do. I'd like my water to be more transparent, so should I set both values to lower values? I'm using Gobias's Bodensee HD water, by the way. Thank you in advance! Edit: Whoopsie. The guide is here: -
Turnstyled's Trials and Tribulations with Cities: Skylines and SimCity 4 (TTATWCSASC4)!
Turnstyled replied to Turnstyled's topic in General Off-Topic
Wow, was I so stressed when writing this topic..... Well, my mother's neighbor was discarding a PC a few weeks ago....and I'm now using it as a Windows 10 22H2/Nvidia 3D Vision build! It has an Intel i7-7700K CPU and an Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB. I might upgrade it to an RTX 2080 Ti at some point as that's the best that you can get with Nvidia 3D Vision. But I might just ditch the glasses and replace my Asus 3D Vision-compatible monitor with a Samsung Odyssey 3D monitor at some point because someone has created a drop-in DLL to play Direct3D 9/Direct3D 9Ex games with a glasses-free 3D monitor, or really any other kind of 3D display. That project can be found here: https://github.com/oneup03/3DVision4All Through some help on the 3D Vision Discord server, I found out that my knockoff glasses had the lenses reversed, so I had to use a tool called NvTimingsEd to reverse the left and right eye order on the monitor itself. But my plan is to buy a mini-PC with an external Nvidia graphics card, and connect that to a Samsung Odyssey 3D monitor, too, for everything else "3D." I've subscribed to Owl3D in the past. It's a paid subscription service that uses an AI model to record your screen and make any "flat" content stereoscopic 3D. I don't know how it compares to Oku3D, which is free and supports all GPU vendors rather than just Nvidia. I also plan to stream games from my "main" PC to that mini-PC using Vibepollo. Anyway, sometimes, you just don't want to lose SimCity 4 in 4K....so at first, I tried a utility on Steam called X-Magnifier. It's geared toward people who play competitive titles. But it wouldn't show the cursor. A better was Magnifixer (https://www.blacksunsoftware.com/screenmagnifier.html). It's not perfect, but I can have a magnified view of SimCity 4's UI on a secondary display! P.S. I'm really looking to get a dedicated microphone XLR interface because the XLR input on my Sound Blaster AE-9 is awful. -
[sc4pac] Let's write our own package manager
Turnstyled replied to memo's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
I was wondering why my water was black... I found an old thread about this. Turns out the Japanese River Project in sc4pac installs JRP_WaterMod_Beta.dat. Also, I recreated my plugins folder on a fresh install of Windows. I found three items that were inaccessible in sc4pac. They are: agc.pirate-ship-1750-01.dark.1.0.0.sc4pac mz.city-hall-fixes.1.2.sc4pac smf-16.static-center-pivot-irrigation-fields.1.0.2.sc4pac Would they be of any help for the Simtropolis restoration project? I had them lying around from a previous Windows install. -
@Aka Thanks so much for the explanation! I'm installing as much as possible through sc4pac as I can, so my plugins directory structure pretty much follows what sc4pac does. There are some things by Rivit, MGB, and Scoty that I have to place outside of the sc4pac structure...and the fact that what they do is so complex is a compliment from me because their work is outstanding. I've selected all the proper options in the SENT installer, so my plugins directory is pretty much just: _Release RRW-Maxis xxx-sc4pac-directories z00_Catenary_Essentials z00_Jondor_Railroad_Crossings z00_MGB Mods z10_Scoty Mods z20_SENT z90_Minimize Button Remover So, yes, I have SENT loading after custom SAMs.
-
Getting back into SimCity 4! I understand that SENT has a purpose, and maybe, something like WWS-SAM-01 doesn't exist where you are, but I really like WWS-SAM-01. Am I able to use WWS-SAM-01 with SENT installed? It's not on the list of compatible SAM add-ons. If I use WWS-SAM-01 with SENT, does WWS-SAM-01 have to be self-contained to WWS-SAM-01 streets? Thank you again!
