  1. 4 GB patch / sc4pac

    thanks for answers
  2. 4 GB patch / sc4pac

Hi everyone, I am currently setting up SimCity 4 using the new sc4pac package manager, but I’ve become uncertain about a critical part of the process – specifically the 4GB patch in relation to installing the Network Addon Mod (NAM). As most of you know, the 4GB patch (Large Address Aware) is absolutely essential for running NAM; otherwise, the game will constantly crash to desktop (CTD) due to the massive amount of data NAM adds. When using the traditional .exe installer for NAM, you are usually guided through the patching process or reminded that the game’s executable (SimCity 4.exe) needs to be patched. However, with sc4pac, the process feels much more automated, and I am unsure about the following: Does sc4pac handle the 4GB patch automatically? Does the tool detect if my .exe is already patched, or do I still need to do it manually using the external 4GB Patch tool? How do I check it? Is there an easy way to verify within Windows or via sc4pac that the game can actually address 4GB of RAM before I start building large cities? Steam/GOG versions: Does it make a difference to sc4pac which version of the game I have regarding how it handles this patch? I want to avoid breaking my installation or experiencing crashes mid-game because I assumed sc4pac handled everything for me. Does anyone here have experience with sc4pac and NAM who can confirm how to ensure everything is set up correctly? Thanks in advance for the help!
