  1. Show us What you're Working On

Why not for Paeng's Grunge Concrete by Murimk and replace the single lots with them, they should extend under the bridge quite nicely?
  2. Underground Rail Lines

To help identify U-Rail they all have twin streetlights, you can also click the "?" and it will show the rail paths under roads/etc when you hover over the road with the mouse. Actually is that Moonlights Super Light Asphalt sidewalks you are using (it's some kind of Asphalt)? for that which will make your U-Rail match your sidewalks, looking again the white concrete is just the default Maxis texture used for all NAM pieces.
  3. Underground Rail Lines

Can you post an image of what you mean by this small white bar? Is this something with the default textures, I've just run a section of U-Rail and do not get any white. I've a custom mod for changing all the Maxis White however, so I may not be seeing what you are.
  4. I found myself in the same dilemma when I first started I just couldn't wrap my head around it all, here is the guide that made it all click into place for me. It only runs to 4-parts I think, but within them is the formula to make cities grow, remember to take it slowly at first, between the game itself and custom content, SC4 has a pretty steep learning curve.
  5. I use Paeng's Parks 205, and changes each cemetery to a single 1x1 lot which you can put together to make a single cemetery which can be part of a park or standalone.
  6. Simcity 4 PIM-X Question

I never load anything more than a few hundred MBs in PIM-X, although you seem to have pushed it to the point of breaking (I never got that far), you will likely find beyond a few hundred MB it can no longer handle creating the preview images of props and buildings causing errors upon starting the program to boot. However as pointed out by Cyclone Boom, to avoid having to manually move your plugins files PIM-X allows you to select which folders to load upon startup, which would be much quicker.
  7. Express tracks

I shouldn't think so, I think the simulator sees each sims journey and the real world delays of stopping at stations don't come into play as individual sims don't actually stop at those stations. It would perhaps help to increase capacity of a well used line though. This scenario is exactly what the Monorail network is for, it's faster than regular rail lines and so sims tend to prefer to use Monorail to cover larger distances.
  8. Could it be you are looking for?
  9. Simcity 4 PIM-X Question

Are you perhaps just simply overloading the program with data? Just like the Maxis LE it is not recommended to run PIM-X with your full suite of plugins. Try just having those items you need to work on in your plugins folder when running either Lot Editor.
  10. The middle tile of these lots is Transit Enabled and therefore you can not zone 1-tile wide adjacent to the center of these lots. To get around the problem zone two tiles wide adjacent to the center of these lots and road access will work correctly. If you wanted to make them longer, it can be done; Take a copy of the existing overhanging prop, giving it a new IID. Then offset the new prop by an additional 16m (1 SC4 tile) using Model Tweaker. With mirroring one such prop will make a section 5 tiles long instead of three if used in both directions.
  11. I for one (and I'm sure others) would be very interested to know what driver revision you have that works correctly? Also, how on earth did you find it, I can't see any legacy drivers on Intel's website for this.
  12. Are you quite sure the NAM installer file is not infected, I'd try a new download from a trusted source as the NAM installer itself should not affect your windows boot files.
  13. I wouldn't go looking for GPU failure, if it's a hardware failure it would most likely be your Hard Drive that was the culprit. My best guess is that for whatever reason some files were not written correctly/have become corrupted, this is a fairly common problem with Windows. One possibility could be that your Hard Drive was beginning to fail or has bad sectors thus files in those sectors have become corrupted, but it could also be that the computer was not shut down correctly or something corrupted during a system crash. First things first, if you have the ability to create a backup of any personal files (including SC4 plugins ) then do that before you do anything else (more of a precaution really). Next thing to do is test the hard drive, if you know the manufacturer of the disk, goto their website and download a tool for scanning/testing your disk. E.g. for Seagate Drives download SeaTools, WD use Data LifeGaurd but each manufacturer has something similar. Follow the included instructions to make a full scan of the disk. If this comes out OK, then nothing to worry about. The quickest fix to your boot problems would be a fresh install of Windows on a formatted hard drive, so long as the HDD scan is clean, there should be no reason for file corruption to reappear.
  14. I'd guess you are missing the textures altogether if they are not appearing, so check the dependencies again for those mods, you can start with any texture mega packs first, most likely it would be one of those. This is a consequence of DAT packing, if you keep an unpacked folder somewhere as a backup and keep it up to date as you re-pack things you could avoid such problems in future.
  15. Computer to reduce lag

If you want to use DirectX Hardware rendering (you do if you use HD mods) then you'll need to think again as the Intel on-board graphics have terrible driver support for SC4. You'll need a laptop with a discreet GPU, I'd recommend an Nvidia one personally. I wouldn't worry about the rest of the specs, you'd have more than enough RAM and whilst 1.6 Ghz may sound slow, I doubt you'd notice a difference between it and a more expensive processor. If you are using a 7 year old laptop now, a new one should give vastly improved performance, just avoid the Intel integrated graphics - see the various threads in this forum for many examples of the problem.
  16. Roads/Rail is broken

It's not unfixable, but it would take a lot of work/patience to fix this without destroying/rebuilding anything. To avoid these situations mass-terraforming and use of slope mods are a must, however it takes time to become adept with them. I've binned many a region as my building techniques improved and I simply outgrew them. The stubs on the transition look like the transition used is from RD-6 to RD-4, you need to find the RD-6 to AVE-4 Transition, if that won't plop, delete a few tiles of the RD-6, you can connect them up again after plopping the transition.
  17. Bombardiere's London/ English Bats

Great props and buildings, like many others commenting here I am also looking forward to some new British-themed content for SC4. Prop packs are fine for things like the phone/post boxes and such-like, that way others could re-use your props for their lots/buildings with only a small dependency required. Every serious player accepts dependencies for what they are, they make the game better. If you need any further assistance with lotting/modding I would be happy to help.
  18. Roads/Rail is broken

Firstly, the NWM networks in the first shots can not continue due to an unsupported layout: - In your first picture the RD-6 is unable to move over 1 tile (left side) after the El-Rail crossing, you would need to transition to Avenue before the intersection. - In your second picture, you can not re-use the bridge over the highway with the six lane avenue/road and must either transition back to avenue for the crossing or build a different crossing over the motorway (this can be built by transitioning to RHW-6C for the overpass). Secondly, the other problems shown would appear to be a result of the bumpy terrain. Roads, rails and other networks will smoothen the terrain when dragged, however some networks can handle larger inclines than others. When you start placing more and more transit networks and they get closer to each other one network can change the terrain in a way that stops the other network from being built. Most likely these changes occurred when you placed starter pieces as these need flat terrain to place them and everything has shifted as a result. Some playing around with terraforming will help you alleviate most of these problems. Try deleting a few tiles around the connection you want and placing stubs (single 1x1 road tiles) in this space to flatten the land, now you should be able to rebuild them without problems on the newly flattened areas. Unless you want to make significant changes to your terrain reducing the steepness of the slopes, problems like that of the last picture can not be avoided.
  19. You just need to drag OneWayRoad through the station and it will connect up fine.
  20. SAM 8 Override Mod: Full Cobblestone Street

Great idea and execution, this really improves the look of the surrounding cobblestone areas, thanks for releasing this for all to enjoy and especially for including so many options so that it's usable for all.
  21. Sorry for the delay in responding, I have been on holiday in September and just got home, but have a load of real-life stuff to deal with right now. This is a bit too complex to write out an answer here, therefore I would ask if you continue to have problems to post on my Lot and Mod Shack page (link in download description). You will probably have a load order issue if it's not working since compatibility issues shouldn't arsie if everything loads correctly (see my previous comment here for instuctions) - I'll try to include a listing of the NAM install that would be most preferable to use with this mod at some point, but it should be pretty obvious and of course many people don't use everything so I've tried to keep the mod as modular as possible to avoid a larger install than necessary.
  22. Help with PIM-X

Well in that case there should be a building exemplar for the blank prop (since this is now in effect the building) and a lot exemplar for the lot itself. Which you will see depends on which option is selected in the list on the left. If you have the building exemplar open then right clicking it will show an option "Open all lots using this building/family" which will show all lots created with this building. Conversely if you have a lot open you can right click and select "Open building(s) from this lot" to get at the building exemplar. Unless you tell the program to open both in this way, it will only ever open the one you asked it to. The other potential pitfall is that possibly you are expecting to see the name of the original model file in the buildings exemplars. But, when you use the blank prop as the building, the name of the actual exemplar will be whatever you decided to name it, therefore will not necessarily match the building name or even be similar. It's recommended to add something unique like your initials at the beginning of every exemplar name - it makes finding your stuff much easier.
  23. Tonksies BAT Thread NDEX

I could add to other comments how much I'd love you to make some more stuff, but that would just be a little selfish on my part. So instead I'll just waive a little salute in the direction of Portsmouth and thank you for all your amazing bats from the excellent stations to your work with UK buildings and everything else, something in itself I never thought you'd be around to hear. Without any attempts to diminish the work of others, I think without the massive amount of bats you produced I'd have given up trying to make a UK region a long time ago.
  24. The resource key is not generated as a file, think of it as an ID that links together the actual model and the lot is is displayed upon, all this is setup for you automatically by PIM-X. You can edit the occupant size, but if a model has been created well it's not helpful to do so. An example of when you might want to change this would be for making items overlap without taking up the same space (this is known as the bounding box). Say you place a small flower on a lot, but the occupant size means it took a whole tile of space (the yellow boxes around props visualise this), in theory SC4 would not allow another prop in the same space, even though a flower would not use a whole tile in practice. In such a scenario you might want to change it, but you can't change this as part of the lot, you need to edit the settings of the model when you create it's building exemplar in SC4-PIM before making the lot from it. Far be it from me to try and dampen your enthusiasm for modding - the more people making stuff the better - but I also think from all your posts you are maybe trying to rush through everything a little. It took me about 6 months to go from starting with the Maxis LE to really understanding how most things work under the hood. A lot of time reading tutorials/readmes and learning from mistakes, of which there were many, was needed along the way. Eventually it will all make sense if you stick at it, but it's not something many will learn in a day - and I'm still no expert. The one thing that changed my understanding of everything was the moment I understood what exemplars were and got comfortable with the concept of ID's (IID's/TGI's). Once that all makes sense, you will begin to really see how SC4 puts pieces together and that everything is just linked via ID's and small settings files. Start simple, make some lots and have realistic goals, when you've managed to get these things working, then the more advanced stuff will come a lot more naturally.
  25. You're not far wrong there, I bought 16GB as most PC's had at least 8GB at the time, although 32GB was also not so bizarre so I felt it was a decent balance keeping the future in mind. I do use some heavy apps (Photoshop being one) but even with 2GB assigned to my Internal Graphics and a 3GB RAM disk my typical Windows load hovers around 7GB, though I've never seen it actually go above 8GB in-use. Up to XP memory was only allocated as it was required, but from Windows Vista onwards it will adapt how it works depending on the amount of memory you have, trying to conserve it for future use if you have a little, but just making use of everything that's available if there's plenty - some would call it a bit of a memory hog but actually Windows is just moving stuff it would usually run in Virtual Memory into RAM because you can and it's more efficient. I even disabled my page file (virtual memory) too, since virtual memory is pointless when you have the real thing.
