How to fix population death waves
spindash_st replied to perafilozof's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Apparently that mode has been superseded by Lifecycle Rebalance Revisited 1.1.1 due to the changes introduced in Sunset Harbor. The facto that CS is still under development, in contrast to SC4, is one of the reasons that prevents me from installing this kind of mods that alter core game mechanics. At the same time I'm kind of like the death waves in the sense they add some dynamism to the game though I still hate the lack of uneducated cims/ cheap educational system.- 2 Replies

I built a city but I did everything wrong, somehow it's a booming metropolis

Is that a farm in the bottom right corner? If so, it's epic. -

Trees and air pollution
spindash_st replied to spindash_st's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Thanks for the answers. Wow! I didn't know it wasn't actually modelled. I guess sometimes it's best not to know the truth -
Do trees reduce air pollution as it was the case in SC4? In other words, does the next picture have any sense at all? At first sight it doesn't seem to be the case though.

Specialized industry logic. Help needed.
spindash_st replied to eV_Vgen's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
AFAIK extraction buildings will pop out only and only if there is oil/ore below them (underground). On areas where is not oil/ore and you have specialized that area in oiling/mining industry you'll get refinery structures. -
Definitely not a good day for taking the bus...

If you mean plopping trees and plants across the map at will, yes it does have.

At the edge of my city there is a landfill site and an incinerator that are surrounded by empty land. Nevertheless, I've noticed a few cars parked on the street near the landfill. But interestingly, the cars do not belonged to any landfill worker nor incinerator worker. The cars' owners work in the city downtown and they live in a suburban area at the other edge of the city map. There is not any park nor commercial building nearby. There isn't any public transport system between this area and the rest of the city. How on earth did they park their cars in the middle of nowhere?

"Then Moses The Mayor stretched out his hand over the sea; and the WATER PUMPS caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided." Cities Skylines, Book of Exodus, 14:21-22

Cities: Skylines - High Density!
spindash_st commented on Zelgadis's City Journal Entry in Cities Skylines: First Look at Gameplay
No, viejo. Buildings do grow just like in SC4. The player just have full control over "state-owned" buildings like utilities buildings, roads, bridges, tunnels, etc. Even though, I suspect you've already have bought the game I wonder why we're unable to drag high density zone over old ones and we're obliged to erase it before. It seems a drawback compared with SC4 o SC2013. I didn't know we can erase zones by right-clicking on it. Thanks! -
Upgrading zone densities
spindash_st replied to catpower165061's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
About zoning, it is very handy to use keyboard shortcuts. As mentioned by @crishy use CTRL+zonning tool in order to build a "free" form for zoning. Be in mind that if you make a zone bigger than the biggest building of the game it wont build anything there. Watch out to not press CTRL+ESC while you are zoning, because you will minimize the game. Also SHIFT+zoning tool to avoid the "auto-zoning" feature which introduces streets between zone lots. And finally the zone's keys, Q, W and E for residential, A, S and D for commercial and Z, X and C for agricultural/industrial zoning. Happy zoning! xD -
I was just going to ask what on earth is "G" after a number! If I recall well there are 8 building's level (stages) in the game. So according to your data, how much people do I need to reach "unlock" a building of stage 8?.

How big is your region? I mean, how much population do you have in the region? You probably need a minimum amount of population in your region in order to get the highest buildings so as to increase population density inside you city by "unlocking" the highest buildings (skyscrapers).
