  14. Maxis References

Thanks for the post on the Long Building, Marcszar! I never thougt that such a generic-looking building was an ancestor to a real-world one! Well You learn something new everyday! Here is an interesting one! You all know the Orange Point Suites, a high wealth condo in the game. Well, did You know that in the real world, this is the scool of architecture of the Technical University of Berlin! The building is a little shorter in the game, otherwise it is close to a perfect match - for example notice the window-less room clad in granite at the left bottom of those pics!
  15. Maxis References

Well Odainsaker, yesterday I thougt about posting the John Wolfe Building but I needed to scan it first... well I guess You beat me on that one... Well here is another very nice New Yorker that Maxis has made use of, The Sherry-Netherland Hotel, known as the Mc Adams Building in the game: Well actually Maxis cheated on this one. They ehm... "forgot" just a ehhh... "little" part of the base :-) This is what the whole building looks like IRL: Keep up the work with this interesting thread!

Really a great CJ, looks like a really nice place to live with lots of atmosphere! It is also nice to see that you make good use of my buildings, I think this is the first time that I see the "Efes Grill" in a CJ, that is the real reward for all the batting hours!
  23. BLaM Fjellbekk Veien 19

Too bad that GDR does not exist anymore, otherwise Glenni would have been employed as chief architect on the spot :-) 10/10
  24. Glenni's BAT showcase

The new building looks great! Nice that you challenge a different type of building!
  25. Peace Tower

It is a very nice model, but the clock face looks a little squished. As You know, the heigth of things should be about 1,5 times the scale to look right in the game and this goes to clock faces too. If You had modeled a standing ellipse it would have looked like a circle when rendered, now you have modeled a circle and it looks like a lying ellipse...
