I have tried several times and used all of the different possible install configs I could think of and am still unable to get any of the "No Grass Mods" to work in any of my cities.... I must be doing something wrong?? The Mod by SithLrd98 you need a phd in linguistics and a magic decoder ring to understand the read_me file.. lol (no offense) Anyway, if anyone has any ideas for me let me know.. not really a big deal I suppose, but it would be nice to have uniform streets, roads, etc without that little strip of wealth dependent grass showing up muti-colored in various patches of my cities along my transport networks.... Oh by the way, I did mange to get the Mod for the Avenues to work... (I think it's either Swamper77's or JRJ's SIdewalkTextureMod1? Can't remember) But yeah there's a corresponding AddOn Mod that is supposed to remove that little strip of grass between the road/street/OWR, etc and the zones so that the sidewalks will blend directly to the edge of the network..... I spend more time downloading, saving, rearranging, backing-up my plugins than I do actually playing the game! lol Ok thanks!!! My plugins folder looks kinda like this: 07/31/2013 06:53 PM <DIR> BSC 08/01/2013 08:05 PM <DIR> MTRT-V1 08/02/2013 02:18 PM <DIR> Network Addon Mod 08/02/2013 02:06 PM <DIR> Plugins_Compressed 08/01/2013 09:42 AM <DIR> RTMTV3 07/21/2013 12:04 PM <DIR> z___NAM 08/01/2013 03:04 AM <DIR> z_roundaboutfix 07/21/2013 09:56 PM <DIR> z_z_Modular_RR_Files 07/31/2013 08:36 PM <DIR> zz_Bigger News Window 07/19/2013 10:37 PM <DIR> zz_LRMv5_SC2013_Set 07/16/2013 10:49 AM <DIR> zz_Pause Thingy Remover 08/01/2013 02:48 AM <DIR> zz_TuLEP Texture Mod Adds Hatching 08/01/2013 02:49 AM <DIR> zz_TuLEP Texture Replacement Mod 07/07/2013 10:12 PM <DIR> zzz_HBS_Peach_LegendMod 07/30/2013 01:08 AM <DIR> zzz_NHP_Ennedi_SlopeMod 08/01/2013 03:45 AM <DIR> zzz_NoMoreDozer Mod 07/13/2013 08:19 PM <DIR> zzz_Paeng_FreeWaters_v101 08/02/2013 12:45 AM <DIR> zzz_PaengTextureMod 08/02/2013 12:46 AM <DIR> zzz_sandstone_NAM 08/02/2013 04:44 PM <DIR> zzz_Texture_Mods 08/02/2013 03:57 PM <DIR> zzz_Uni-DensityStreets1 07/12/2013 07:00 AM <DIR> zzzz_PEG Facelift Mods 07/07/2013 10:13 PM <DIR> zzzz_Simfox_Day_n_Nite_Modd 08/01/2013 09:01 AM <DIR> zzzz_terrainmod 08/02/2013 02:15 PM <DIR> zzzzzz_DAMN_Hidden 06/26/2013 12:22 AM 336,050 bldgprop_vol1.dat 06/26/2013 12:22 AM 69,577 bldgprop_vol2.dat 10/08/2008 03:25 PM 15,002,014 BSC Essentials.dat 03/28/2005 05:15 PM 5,612 BSC_Essentials_OG.dat 04/22/2005 12:39 PM 14,083 BSC_RegionalCounter.dat 12/21/2005 11:57 PM 13,495 BSC_Reward_essential.dat 12/29/2004 02:43 PM 6,234 csx_Essentials01.dat 07/31/2013 10:42 PM 5,642 FIXES.dat 06/13/2005 03:35 AM 617,834 NDEX Global Essentials.dat 04/21/2008 09:51 AM 96,616 NUTsEssentials.dat 12/07/2012 02:52 PM 408,754 z_MaxisPropNamesAndQueryFix.dat 10/18/2006 01:25 PM 286,720 SimCity 4 Extra Cheats Plugin.dll 08/02/2013 05:09 PM 0 Folder_Directory.txt *NOTE: for functionality purposes, I had to make some minor modifications to a few folders and .dat files to get them to load in the "correct" order.

I can't seem to get this to work properly? There is still grass showing up even when I bulldoze and re-draw the roads, streets, etc and zones... I have tried several different configurations in my plugins folder as well... I tried placing the files as-is directly in the Root folder of my plugins, I tried creating a "zzz_" folder to load it after the NAM and my other texture mods, etc. I tried loading it first, in the middle. and last all to no avail. The No $$$ palms mod seems to work ok. I also installed the Avenue version of this Mod and that seems to work ok as well. What am I missing here? Any help would be appreciated!!! I really want to utilize this mod in a few of my cities! Thanks :)

Whoa first comment!! Looks good! I too enjoy creating smaller rural communities as opposed to large. sprawling metropolises. I think you're off to a good start here... :) -

cool! I love looking at other people's cjs to get some ideas for my cities and to get some much needed inspiration when I can't seem to get in "The Zone" Looks very nice!! -
Hey does anyone know how I can get the default "pink" maxis sidewalk textures to change with this Larger-Cul-de-sac Mod? I use sandstone mod for everything else and after finally finding this thread and getting my cul-de-sacs to work, I now have two-toned sidewalks everywhere that ends in a cul-de-sac... lol Not too big of a deal, but I do like consistency. I suppose I could revert back to the (ugly) default sidewalks to match up, but I really like the look that the Sandstone sidewalks add.... I use the following for plugins..... NOTE: I had to "alter" a few things for functionality purposes.. Anyone else getting the "Black Hole" bug when they plop these? The same bug that affects a few other lots and the only way to fix it is to switch to Zones View and then back to normal view when it happens? I thought maybe I was missing a Dependency but then I came back here to this launch page and re-read the description and noticed that the author claims there are no deps. I really like this lot and I could incorporate it into a few of my cities which have lots of hills and mountains, plus lots of farm land, but I can also do without - I have enough other power solutions... I just hate that damn "Endless hole to China"! lol

Just want to make sure of something... is this compatible with SPAM? I have both installed and haven't noticed any issues yet... ALSO, want to know if this is compatible with the RTM (Regional Tracking Mod)? I just recently installed that Mod and when I go to track my agricultural (farms) in my region it shows up as Zero for all cities?? Wondering if this Mod is overrriding the RTM and/or the SPAM? Think this is an awesome Mod by the way! You have some great stuff! :) Oh yeah, my review..... 5/5 !!!

I first downloaded the rev98b version and loved it.. I then got the new updated version 1.0 and i do like 99% of the changes you made.. the only thing I noticed however is that the newest version overrides the plugin I use to make my News Window larger... which wouldn't normally be a big deal, but ever since implementing the DAMN manager menu interface it's becoming apparent that I need the larger window to make my life easier! I actually downgraded back to the rev98b version for now.... Anyway you could somehow implement a larger news window in your 1.0 version ? ? Thanks!

I bought SimCity 4 way back when it first came out in 2003 - played for about a month and decided I didn't care too much for it. However, about 6 months ago, I took it off the bookshelf, dusted it off and gave it another go - I stumbled upon the STEX, SC4Devotion, The PLEX, etc. where all of the custom content is and now I must say that I only wish I hadn't given up on this game so many years ago! I missed a lot of cool stuff over the years, but I am so glad all of it is still available for download! By the way, SPA.. I love your work! I have most of your stuff in my plugins folder.. truely awesome stuff! Keep it up!

Absolutely this is possible.. that's what the "Force Repack" option is for... This is how I handled my ever-growing plugins folder. A) Before ANYTHING else, I create a new folder outside of the My Documents\Sim City 4 folder... for example, I made a New Folder in the Root of My Documents, but separate from the default Sim City 4 folder. I named this new folder "SC4_Master Directory" B) With my newly created folder, I create sub-folders. One of which I named Plugin_Source Files - and this is where I store the original .ZIP Archives I obtain from downloading custom content. Inside that folder, I created several more sub-folders organized categorically (For a good category Listing Scheme, I used the same Format used on SC4 Devotion/Lex - that way it is easy to go back in case of issues and locate the source files. Here is an example of the folders I created for storing all of my Archived_Source Files CAM_Agriculture CAM_Commercial Offices CAM_Commercial Services CAM_Industrial CAM_Main Files CAM_Residential Civics_Education Civics_Health Civics_Safety Commercial Commercial_Highrise Commercial_Midrise Commercial_MEGA Commercial_Small Commercial_W2W Commercial_WFK Dependency Dependency_Props Dependency_Textures Documentation Farming Farming_SF Industrial Industrial_MEGA Industrial_WFK Landmarks Landmarks_Functional Maps_Standard Maps_Terraformer Models_3DS Models_gMax Mods_General Mods_Graphics Mods_Transport NAM Parks Parks_BSC Compliant Parks_Eye Candy Parks_Sportsfields Residential_Highrise Residential_Midrise Residential_MEGA Residential_SF Residential_Small Rewards_BTE Rewards_General Tools_Data Creation Tools_Data Management Tools_Data Modification Transport_Air Transport_Rail Transport_Road Transport_Water Utilities_Power Utilities_Garbage Utilities_Water I narrowed it down some as I don't use custom content from all of these categories, but it was a very logical template to follow. C) Now that I have a locale for storing all of my Source Files, going back to the "SC4_Master Directory" I created in My Documents, I create a Second Sub-Folder named "Plugins_backups" and the VERY FIRST thing I did before using DAMN or DatPacker was to take my plugins folder (which has been thoroughly tested and confirmed to be glitch free, and I made a COPY of all of my plugins in their original, default format. When installing certain items - especially stuff that includes an installer, the content will be installed to a very specific folder. An example would be the folder titled "bsc" A lot of dependencies reside in that folder as well as content from numerous modders/lotters, etc. and a lot of content that is downloaded for use in Sim City 4 comes with an installer anyway, so it is good to have a solid backup of all of my plugins in their ORIGINAL, UNALTERED STATE. Mostly, this is used for troubleshooting issues should they arise, but also a good thing to have for anyone who uses a lot of plugins, etc. D) OK, so I made a copy of my plugins folder in its original state. The next thing I did was set about to manually "tidy up" my plugins. Using the same category list I use to store the actual Source Files seemed like the most logical thing to do, so everything inside my plugins folder that wasn't part of a big package (i.e, bsc, NAM, Simgoober, Paeng, PEGPROD, etc - those folders are pretty well self-organizing because of the installers that put the files to the right location) but all of the "loose" plugin files I have for various Stand-Alone Lots, Mods, etc. I set about to create corresponding folders which as I already stated match the folder structure of my Source File Library.... E) After "Consolidating" my "Loose" plugins and stand-alone items, I make a SECOND copy of my plugins folder in its NEW format and put it back in my SC4_Master Directory\Plugins_backup folder... naming it something like Plugins_User_Consolidated (the first copy I made of my unaltered plugins I put in a folder named Plugins_Unaltered F) OK, so now that I have 2 backups of my plugins handy (just in case) I can go about fiddling with the Tools (DAMN, DatPacker, etc.) By the way, I should also mention that next to my Source_Files_Library where I keep the ZIP Archives for safe keeping, I created another Folder specifically just for storing all of the Tools and Utilities available for Sim City 4 (iLive Reader, SC4 Node, DatPacker, Lot Editor, BAT, Gmax, etc. etc.) -so I don't have to re-download these if I want to reinstall or whatever (unless an updated version comes out) BUT to get to my point, the way to Repack an item once its already been DatPacked should you add any AddOns or Updates is to take the .dat file out of your Plugins_Compressed Folder and put it in a New Folder of the SAME NAME in your ROOT plugins Folder along with the NEW Files you want to add to it. Then Launch DatPacker and select the new folder you just created making sure to check the box "Force Repack" and that will essentially combine the new folders/Files with the .dat file previously created. Make sure you remove the original stuff back out of your plugins folder and then put the new .dat file (with its original name) back into your plugins_compressed folder. Simple as that. On a side note.... I have tried running the game using a DatPacked NAM and so far have had no issues. I think it's a matter of personal preference whether or not to do it. One word of caution though - if you have to reinstall NAM or want to change installed items, etc, you will have to do it fresh or just repaste the original from your saved backups back into the plugins folder first..... Personally, I keep my NAM uncompressed but that's just my preference - it should work either way if you do it correctly to begin with. I love the DAMN Menu interface and just recently started using it... I am using a hybrid combination of some Datpacked items (mostly dependencies, props, mmps, etc and then keep all of my zzz_"folder name" files in their original structure - seems to run very smoothly! Anyway, that was a very lengthy post to make such a simple point which I could have done in about a fraction of the sentences (sorry for going off on tangents like that - its the OCD) lol On another side note, I found a great little app that is useful for taking a listing (like the one above of my folder names) and rather than creating each folder manually one at a time, this app will take a list made in notepad (a .txt file) and create a folder for each one on your list! Very handy little tool and it's Freeware... here's a link for anyone interested... Text2Folders

Hey Drunkapple... what UI are you using in that screenshot? I like it! Me wants it! lol... Is it something you made for yourself or have you shared it anywhere? I'm using a custom UI (Doc's Greyscale) and it's also nice, but the one you have shown here would really match the color-scheme, etc of my highly customized Win XP & Firefox UI's Let me know... thanks! BTW... you make by far some of the absolute best Region Maps I have seen on any of the Sim City Sites. Just thought I'd throw that compliment out there ;)

Can I use the MaxisPropNamesandQueryFix Mod (Which supposedly is an overhaul of bldgprop_v1.dat and bldgprop_vol2.dat?) In the description for the mod listed above (MaxisPropNames...), it states that this file is suitable as a replacement for the latter two files, but I guess I just wanted to know if this "Modular Freight Yard" pack exclusively relies upon bldgprop_vol2 as a dependency... I think I already know the answer to my own question, but want to get a second opinion before I go rearranging my plugins folder again for the hundredth time... lol Thanks! BTW... Paeng, you are on of my favorite Modders, I love your stuff and have most of it handy in my plugins! Keep up the awesome work!

Just a comment about the "sports field" what kind of game do you play on a rectangular field with yellow grids like the one here? lol can't tell if it's supposed to be a soccer/football/human-checkers/grid-ball/graphing equation field? The building looks really good from the screenshots, but based on previous comments, it appears this lot has some issues, but I still really like the look of the building itself. The crazy looking grid-thingy-field should be changed to a standard American football field or just a good old fashioned soccer field.. just my opinion.

Dependencies can be found here: https://www.simtropolis.com/. ? ? ? ? When I try to use this link I am just redirected to Simtropolis Homepage.. What are the dependencies? I'll locate them manually, but don't want to download this and find out I am missing a file... If you put that "Dependencies can be found here..." but only provide a generic link and not a list of the dependencies, how can one expect to know what they are? I don't know about anyone else, but I am not psychic! Some more info would be nice! Thanks

I guess this may fit into this category since there's a discussion on "Rotating" here. I think I already know the answer to my own question, but wanted to ask around as well to see if maybe there is a solution.... .... Is there a way to rotate the entire Region when I am in Region View Mode? I don't think there is, but it would be cool if I could look at my whole region from multiple perspectives... Thanks

Neighboorhood Connection Issue (with Symphony/Maxis "MHW" and NAM v31.1)
Phunkadelic77 posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Hello STEX... I am running into an issue with my neighborhood connections when I use the redesigned "Maxis" Highways as part of the NAM v.31.1 MOD. When I draw the connection to an adjacent city it will appear to connect fine from the initiating city, but when I save and then launch the new city I just connected to, there's only one neighborhood connection arrow instead of the normal two alternating directional connection arrows. Also, there appears to be a gap between the MHW and the edge of the city about 1/2 tile in size. When I query the connection from the side I created the connection, it appears to be fine, but again - when I go to the new city I connected to with the buggy connection, I get nothing from my query tool and appears that the connection only exists on the originating side. All other neighborhood connections work fine. (ie, roads, rail, even the RHW connections are working once I plop down the neighborhood connection piece., etc) But I noticed that there aren't neighborhood connection puzzle pieces for the re-worked Symphony version of MHW. What am I missing? I hope someone can help me with this annoying little thing that is driving me absolutely crazy! I even tried to re-connect from the "new" city side and what happens then is the same thing only now the originating city side has the glitch.... weird. Any help whatsoever would be much appreciated. I guess I could just bulldoze away a bit of the MHW and transfer to RHW to make my city connections, but I like the texture and appearance of the Elevated MHW and it fits nicely into the rest of my city's network. Thanks for your help! I forgot to take a screenshot before posting and didn't feel like launching the game right in the middle of typing. but next time I launch the game I'll take a s/s for reference if needed..... Thanks again, Matt UPDATED 6-21-13 @ 10:48pm OK, well I just realized there is a new NAM installer for June 2013. I am downloading now. Maybe this will resolve my issues. Plus I noticed that the type-A MHW Ramp was fixed to fully rotate.. lol... I almost broke my computer earlier trying to mess with that damn ramp... -

Neighboorhood Connection Issue (with Symphony/Maxis "MHW" and NAM v31.1)
Phunkadelic77 replied to Phunkadelic77's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
OMG! I am embarrassed to admit this, but I figured out my problem. You guys aren't going to believe how dumb I am... lol... So, I figured out the problem - In one city I was using the Elevated (lvl2 MHW) and in the adjacent city I inadvertantly had already laid out (lvl1 MHW), so naturally when I tried to connect them from either city, it bulldozed the network on the other side while trying to create the new connection for each level of Highway. Basically, I am just a dumbass.... lol I updated to NAM v.31.2 btw, and things are looking nice in my region! Sorry for the trouble all... Next time I'll troubleshoot a little further before panicking and posting -
Yeah... I'm from Rochester also... I started working on a detailed map of the region (including the Fingerlakes, Bristol Mountain, Mendon Ponds Park, etc.... I even remembered to include the pier down at Charlotte Beach. The map is still in early stages as I am trying to make the map as realistic and as much to scale as possible while also creating a config.bmp that will work well for areas like downtown along the Genesee, large cities for places like Henrietta, Webster/Ontario/Penfield areas... trying to get the layout as accurate as possible. Of course I can use small cities for towns like East Rochester, Fairport (Village) and medium cities for towns like Gates, Spencerport, etc... Oh well... hopefully one day my map will be good enough to upload here...
vortext, on , said: btw, an installer . . really? For a frigging 5kb file?! Ah well, still a good job though Yes, because you won't believe the number of people that have absolutely no idea how install this and refuse to read instructions.
I agree... I read through a lot of the comments and reviews posted before I download custom content - you know to get an idea from the community before I actually put a file in my plug-ins folder - I can't believe the overall level of idiocy that I often see displayed when it comes to downloading and installing simple files... anyway - thanks for the mod.
