First of all, I would like to thank you for the cozy green and yellow place here at Simtropolis, given to the SimcityBrasil (SCB) files. Thanks @Dirktator, @Cyclone Boom and @CorinaMarie. The logos of the SCB phases Second, I see this work as a tribute to Marcello Brandão (@SUICO), founder of the first SCB website. His pioneering spirit and starting point back in 2004 were essential to encourage many people, from all phases of SCB, to create content. Marcello (right) and I, on the occasion we met in 2006. There were 2 cool meetings on a work trip that I did. If anyone wants to know about the SCB phases, here are links to a documentary on the history of SimcityBrasil made by @Klyte45 (in Portuguese). SimCity Brasil: O documentário - Parte 1 SimCity Brasil: O documentário - Parte 2 SimCity Brasil: O documentário - Parte 3 Third, I decided to create this topic as a kind of diary for people to follow the process of reorganizing the files in the SimcityBrasil category and, also, to be able to offer opinions, suggest and also help me to identify old dependencies, authors to give credit or send any material missing or lost with you. Well, let's get started! PS: I apologize if the English is strange: I am writing in the Notepad++ in Portuguese and translating directly through Google Translator, doing a brief review before posting. If you don't understand something, you can ask around here that I clarify; if you want to correct me about Language (I appreciate that), feel free, but I ask you to send me PM so we don't get out of focus.

Colossus Addon Mod 3.0 Out Now
carlosmarcelo replied to Ulisse Wolf's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
That's fine! Thanks! I never used CAM because I thought it made growth slower and more difficult. But now that it has so many added improvements, I'm tempted to start a new plugin folder with it. However, I wouldn't want to use AMPS and the growth controller with more phases. Is it possible to install it without these two features?- 5 Replies

How it's made - AMPS & Energy
carlosmarcelo replied to Ulisse Wolf's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
I'm sorry about I will say, but since the start of project, I thought the AMPS very complicated to be fun. No doubt is a incredible and fantastic work that done , but, in my humild opinion, it exceed the limit of ultra realism. But, just to reiterate, this is just my preference: I like realism, but I don't like being a professional to make such detailed technical decisions while I'm playing. -

poll SC4 Building Styles Community Vote
carlosmarcelo replied to Ulisse Wolf's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
In my opinion, this discussion will go on forever because there is a lot of subjectivity in classification. If most city games use "region name + year", it is probably easier for most people to understand or have an idea of what will happen. For me, the best opinion was: Why we need a lot of options? We have 1 or 2 thousand of BATs, but, when we divide in 32 options, we will have less than 1 hundred BATs in each. And I'm thinking in the difficult to choise one good option among many to play or to make a bat. Rememeber of "paradox of choice": the more choices we have, the more paralyzed we become. Well... We've been trying to decide this for many months, that is, we have proof here that the more options, the more we struggle to conclude something. I voted in option A because is more simple to me, what I don't matter about styles details, but, eventually, I like to see modern and new styles of buildings in my city after some years. But, after read @Tyberius06 opinion, I think we need simplify the options to generic definitions. For example: Region Africa America Asia Europa Oceania Eras Prehistory Antiquity Medieval Ages Modern Age Contemporary Futuristic Simple and direct. Anyone looks at it and has an idea of what that style is. -

A brief analysis of the attributes of health system
carlosmarcelo posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hi all people. Usually, I change various attributes in mods what I use and I did it with “Hospital Patient Capacity”, increasing a lot of capacity of maxis hospital, clinic and in this mods: More Realistic Radius, GooberGen Hospital, SC4 Regional Public Safety, Fire Station, Hospital, Police Station. But, when I simulated a dense city, around 300k in 2 km², I needed put 6 hospitals e 2 clinics and it is not enough. This fact seemed very far from reality to me, which motivated me to make new adjustments, but I didn't just want to increase hospital capacities even further, I wanted to understand how health parameters operate, even superficially. I asked about other parameters (Hospital Effectiveness vs. Average Age and Hospital HQ boost) in Got I quick SC4 Question ask here, however I need see in the practice. I don't intend to do a mega, incredible and deep study how @RobertaME in Education Modding: The Devil's in the Details, , but I thought that this information can be useful to other people. Well, I will start with the simple, short, global and mainly conclusion: in fact, the hospital itself determines how many people will get sick and go to the hospital. Hahahahaha. It is strange and paradoxical, but my tests identified that the quantity of patients is controlled directly by the attribute “Hospital Effectiveness vs. Average Age”. I did dozens of tests, but I will put some data here to post doesn’t become very extensive. All tests were did in the same initial zoned small city, without industry and pollution, with just one regional hospital and with mods to increase demand and cap relief in the max. 1) Hospital HQ boost The reader definition is: “Amount of monthly HQ boost from this building. HQ can range between 0 and 200 and is automatically reduced by 3 each month, so to have a net positive effect this number should be greater than 3.” I admit that I didn’t understand this explanation because I don’t know how I measure this behavior. I just increased and decreased default number (11,52000046) and effect is below. Hospital HQ boost = 11,52000046 Approximately 22 years to city reach max in life expected. Hospital HQ boost = 140,6000061 Approximately 2 years to city reach max in life expected. Conclusion: the higher the number, the faster the population becomes healthy. Is it totally correct? I think yes, however, feel free to put your experiences too. Curiosity: I ran tests with negative numbers too: the city's health map was flashing red and green like a Christmas tree… 2) Hospital Effectiveness vs. Average Age I spent most of the time on this tests because there are more possibilities and needed more time to effect observations. Well, we start by reader definition: “Maps Average age of a tract to the % HQ boost the hospital gives the tract”. I imagined this parameter works similar as “School Effectiveness vs. Average Age”: pairs of values to represent the effect by age group over time. Part A: discovering the numbers The default value is “0,8,100,8” and I deduce that 0 and 100 were, respectively, start / end years, so, I needed to find out what represents 8. During tests, after dozens of years passed, I noted that population reaching a maximum and constant number (thanks @CorinaMarie for the NKO!!!) and, for coincidence, numbers of patients in hospital was a constant too. Well, I got numbers of patients and divide by population resulting in approximately 0,0798 or… 8%. Eureka! I did tests with others numbers and behavior was the same. Conclusion until here: in the pair, the first number is a year limit to second number, that is a % of population (quantity patients that this hospital will have) to first number. Curiosity: if all hospitals of your city (until 2 million people) are very very overcrowded, regardless of how many there are, just remove all hospitals and put a just once Disease Research Center: all patients will disappear “automagically”. This happen because in Disease Research Center the Hospital Effectiveness vs. Average Age is “0,3,100,3”, therefore, the total number of sick people in the entire city will never exceed 3% of the population and it has a very high capacity (62k). The standard maxis hospital has low capacity and 8% of sick people per population, therefore, by removing the overcrowded hospital and putting Disease Research Center, it is as if 5% of the sick population were cured immediately because we removed the hospital. Hospital Maxis with 8% of population sick (6531 patients) 6531/81630 = 0.080007 = 8% Disease Research Center with 3% of population sick (2449 patients) 2449/81630 = 0.030001 = 3% 6531-2449 = 4082 people instantly healed!!!! Part B: changing behavior What would happen if I changed the value to 0,3,100,8? The expected is note a growing in number of patients while people get older. I started the city and I was measuring according to table below. We can note in initial years the % patients / population is near to 3%, growing in next decades, until 70 years, near to 8%. Curiosity: I didn’t know about this: with constant population, the entire people ages together and around year 73 or 74, suddenly, most of the aging people give way to a large new generation of young people. It is reason to decrease abrupt after 74 years. 10 years: young city 50 years: old city 80 years: renewed city Question: is it possible to change this people renovation? Someone knows what attribute to do this? Conclusion until here: in the pair, the first number is a year limit to second number, that is a % of population (quantity patients that this hospital will have) to first number. The first pair is initial values and second pair is final values. Part C: bringing to my fictional reality I did me this question: “Could add other pairs of numbers?” I did a lot of tests and confirmed it is possible!! So, I thought how can be a “real” behavior of health by age of population: I believe that children and teens need medical care more than young adults who are in the prime of their health, and they go to the doctor much less often. On the other hand, older adults start to need to take care of their health more often until the elderly certainly go to the doctor more often. Based on this assumption, after some tests, I have constructed the following values: 0,3,20,1,50,5,70,7,100,11. Or, by graph: In this graph, the red line represents my supposition about % patient / population by age. The orange dashed line represents a trend of red line. The blue line is standard maxis (8%). The behavior was not exactly like the red line, but I felt me satisfied with this: I’m satisfied because in a starting city, in addition to the young population, the mayor has less money, so he can keep the city's budget low for health care. However, he needs to make the city prosper as the years go by for a population that will age over time and need more health care. And I understand that this, making the city prosper, is another challenge aligned with the objective and essence of SC4. 3) And now? All tests and results were realized in the same small test city. I put in my dense city (around 300k in 2 km²) and the behavior was a few strange, although the behavior expected was the same. I can’t discover why in this moment and in the next weeks, so, I decided to create this post to, maybe, help other people or other interested parties can realize tests too. Thank you for reading. See you next time. -

Thanks for answer, null 45 and Cori! I believe that. I will test more in soon... I did all tests in empty zones, starting a city, year 0. To show how were divisions after some years passed, I snapshot or of the zone view or after to pause and to demolish builds. Yes, in my tests, subdivision works well too, but aggregation, not. I will create a small e more simple city to test too. -

Just curiosity: whats will happen if you add a clinic or hospital in this scenario? I believe that just one clinic or one hospital to increase life expectancy without to increase a lot of health spend. -

It makes sense: my examples was with empty zones. So, we can conclude that options (aggregate and subdivide) works just with growed lots? -

Thanks for explain and adjust the pt-br file. Now, after of to do my "work" , I could test agregation and subdivision in my test city. In this small city, I have a minimal plugins, without others RCI buildings, there are just maxis standart RCI buildings and When I used this options: I expected the result was not aggregation, preserving divisions, but, the city started like this: It was like this: Image of zone view, with lots agreggated. In the same city restarted, I did other lot subdivions to start: In this tests, I created larger lots. I tested "Disable lot subdivision" alone and this works well, however, when I tested both checked: Not happen subdivision, but happen aggregation: @Null 45 or someone, I understood something wrong or I not knowing how to use something? -

Hi guys! I finished translate this interface options and hover tips and below we can see a small sample: The ltext file with translated texts to use together of the CoriBoom UI file, you can download here: Carlos - Building Styles UI v0.44 for use with dll ltext ptbr.dat. Thanks CoriBoom for assistance and creation of interface. Cori Edit: Carlos's attached file showing v0.44 is also perfectly fine with my v0.45 posted UI. (I'd sent the v0.44 in a PM for him and then since I made a few changes before posting in this topic, I incremented the number.) Cori Edit Too: I've now updated the GIDs so Carlos's translation are their own set. See two posts below. -
A brief analysis of the attributes of health system
carlosmarcelo replied to carlosmarcelo's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Different from what I imagined, unfortunately, no. Yes, you are right! In my tests, I didn't pay attention in "Hospital HQ boost" parameter of Disease Center: default value is 3.2000005. It is a very low value, insufficiente to grow up health, let it down until minimal value (50). And this is fair because it is a research center, not a hospital, besides, mensal cost of research is very very low comparing hospital: it can't have the same effect. But it isn't invalidate the conclusion about this: in really, placing a hospital just sprout patients in the proportion to the population. Although it is in pt-br (Portuguese), note that there are 2 red messages: both are about defficient system health. After I put one (tubinated) hospital, the health problem are disapiered in 2 or 3 years. Conclusion: we can remove hospitals to reduce cost per capacity, but you must have (maybe) one hospital to mantain a "Hospital HQ boost" very above 3.200005. Well, thinking in regular game, I suggest you have a minimal health structure and control budget a few below the minimal. Thinking in mods, I suggest get a hospital with high "HQ Boot", high radius and high "Hospital Effectiveness vs. Average Age". I'm fan of Mattb creations, I believe this collection has a some hospital with característics. My hospitals are very customized. -

I translated the new and long sentences and now the interface looks like this: Some comments below: "(controle reservado 04)" or just "= reservado =" or empty are suggests to this reserved spaces. "Não remembrar lotes" and "Não desmembrar lotes": in my city, theese are formal and techinical words to, respectively, "Disable lot aggregation" and "Disable lot subdivision"; I thought "Não juntar lotes" and "Não dividir lotes" excessive shorts, letting very blank space in interface. I can't write short, complete and compreensive sentence to NKO, so I used gentrification and added "NKO" because both terms already famous in community SC4 and urbanists. I believe that with tips we will be able to explain with accurate to new users what means each control of UI. "Prevent Cross-Style Redevelopment" was the challenge. I did some options, but I changed some words and I choiced the underlined sentence: Impedir o redesenvolvimento de estilo cruzado (original) Evitar troca de estilo no redesenvolvimento Preservar estilo ao reconstruir Fixar estilo ao redesenvolver Manter estilo ao reconstruir Fixar estilo ao reconstruir I update dll and I haved impression that "Disable lot aggregation" is not working properly. In late, I will do precision tests. If you need adjusts or you want to comment about this sentences, feel free. -

Don't worry: I can adjust in this space. Can you send me interface file and ltext file to translate and to avaliate? I prefer have both because I can changing and viewing result. But, if you prefer, I can translate here in other post or PM. Yes, it is very important in this moment. Concepts like NKO, W2W etc is not "simple"... I burned my mind to translate "auto-historical" and "auto-growify" to simple words and the concept is broader. So, I would like share a question with all: the NKO, or better, the "kick out lower wealth", is the same of gentrification? PS: If tips idea will be possible, I can starting create. -
Very interesting. Thanks for doing this to us. Let me see I understood when you say "flow": the app could have a menu option to wizard to create a new submenu? For example, I drag a file or various files to in sc4.exe; then if a person to choice "new submenu", it starts a wizard asking name, button icon, parent and register in .ini file to futures new includes in this new submenu.

Hi @smf_16!! Very thanks for this tool! It is very simple to use!!! I did simple tests, but the tool is powerful and pratic. I used npm version and a just file with a lot of lots (MYOS Make Your Own Sign) and it works very well. That's nice!!! Thanks! That's very nice! Thank you so much. I prefer the "exe" although I have used and have no problems using node.js. Is it possible to indicate (via the command line) a png image to be added to the submenu output file?
