Chapter XVII: Victoria Harbor Remastered
wallasey commented on Mascalzone's City Journal Entry in Aurora, The Bright City
I love the re-mastered images! It's amazing how far things have come along since Cities Skylines was first released! The bridge is a true landmark gateway into the port from the city. I'm also loving the lighthouse on the corner. Keep it up! -

How To - BAT'ing with Google Sketchup Models
wallasey replied to Bipin's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
I'm getting the impression that Google have re-branded the sketch-up line of products recently. Would anyone be able to confirm which version is best for exporting to Sim City? I'm having a playaround with Sketchup Make (the free one). Cheers, -

Very good, in a slight way these remind me of developments in and around Toxteth, although they have a white finish. An interesting project (if I may suggest) for you may be this. Terraced housing...upside down. Keep up the good work!

Greater Manchester - A new beginning...
wallasey replied to poshbakerloo's topic in SC4 City Journals
Its a good start, and it is always great to see a fellow North Westerner on here. Don't be discouraged to continue with what you have started! Sometimes general Euro BATs work well, just have a look around. There was a First Bus model floating around too! Even a few US buildings fit in well for City Centre locations. Three suggestions I would put to you are: 1: Euro Road Textures....these would help 2: Streetlighting Mod (helps you stamp your mark on the streets) 3: Although this is not a replication of GM, I would suggest having the bare essentials in place. It would be great to see Stockport with its Viaduct...Metrolink and Mancunian Way. You have great potential, I hope that with support, a great CJ will flourish. All the best. EDIT: Thinking about it, for the likes of Hulme, Harpurhey and Beswick you may only need SFBTs Prefab apartments....have a look and see what you think. They do work well for inner city locations. -

Well, the game stopped crashing, but..
wallasey replied to Jazzmaster's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
That computer must be ancient history as machines go these days. I have a rather minimal machine but it has 4GB of RAM with a 512MB Shared memory GPU, and 16GB of swap space. The machine I got rid of last fall had 1.5GB of RAM running Windows XP. I would still have it, but it died of old age. The GPU went out of support everywhere. Tempting fate but my problems are fixed! It dawned on me that as the system had been reconditioned to "as new" state, the subsequent Windows Updates would not be installed. So 150 MS Updates later, the freezing has stopped. There was a reoccurring CTD issue, but this has been solved by referring to a backed up plugins folder. To be honest, I haven't really had issues with this computer until now. I don't build big, only around 90-100k for my large urban centres and 50-75 for my sub regional centres. Had a few regions around a million population. Admittedly this isn't as big as what I have seen around the fan sites but for a region which comprises of predominantly UK BATs, it ain't bad. I didn't choose the RAM upgrade amount, just how things panned out. The engineer in the store was surprised too! I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your help and guidance! -

Yeah the service shop wiped everything, the system has effectively been taken back to as it was when new which would be circa 2005. I did install the Direct X version required for Terraformer to work (June 2010). Could it be that the Direct X driver is conflicting with an un-updated system? The comp is not connected to the internet and Sc4 is the only proper program on the system. No subsequent updates have been run since it came back from the service centre. The original RAM size was 256Mb, the game didn't function so I got an upgrade, the shop bumped it up to 752Mb. What do you mean by GPU? Fraid I am no expert when it comes to ICT! I'll increase the paging file again and see what happens. The system freezing even occurs on empty tiles whilst transit networks are being laid. Thanks for your help! -

A little more information please. What operating system are you running, and which version of the game? System: XP Home Version 2002, Service Pack 2 Intel Pentium M Processor 1.60GHz 599MHz 752MB Ram This has just been effectively reconditioned, took the computer into the store after a power feed problem, gets it back a fortnight later to find everything had been overhauled...but SC4 has never been the same since. Everything was fine before!!! Thanks for your help.
