No, haven't really traveled much outside North America. Would you rather: A) Be forced to used sandpaper as toilet paper for the rest of your life. | B) Never be able to bathe or shower for the rest of your life.

A strip mall near the amusement park. Lennox Yards, an upper class development, right near lower class housing. The Lennox-Crystal expressway. Farms in Northern Lennox. More Xylo Numerically, Xylo is one of the fastest growing cities in Henderson. The city has long been known for its low density traditions, but in 1980, a new mayor was elected for the quiet city of 550,000. By 2010, the Xylo's population skyrocketed to over 1.5 million. This has also spawned new business districts, part of the mayor's plan to concentrate skyscrapers in certain areas. Some are even predicting that Greater Xylo and nearby cities will merge with the urbanized Radiator Springs Bay Area, more than 75 miles north up the Atlantic Coast, in as little as 40 years. If that happens, a new, Tokyo-style megaregion will form on the Eastern Seaboard with over 100 million residents, including endless miles of urban sprawl hugging the Atlantic ocean. Replies are at the bottom... For replies from Update 20, see the Palmdale Update here. New Buckhead, a business district named after the nearby Buckhead district in Xylo. Unlike the monster business districts of the Central Xylo Triangle, New Buckhead and surrounding areas are cursed with aggravating gridlock due to inadequate public transit and a high number of suburban residents travelling from as much as 35 miles away. A closer view of apartments near New Buckhead. An upper-middle-class neighborhood north of New Buckhead. This neighborhood, which is an equal radius from multiple business districts, is one of the most diverse in Xylo. Asians and Hispanics make up nearly 60% of the neighborhood's population, while Whites only make up 11%. A row house development near the Hamilton Business District. A suburban style shopping center to give people a break from all the apartments and hi-rises. An upper-class development near Hamilton. More houses near Hamilton. A poorer neighborhood. Linda Swampy Medical Center, New Buckhead. Kingston Business District. The Kingston Branch of the Xylo Library, and Kingston Springs Medical Center in Kingston. Replies (From Update 21) GDK- Thanks!!!!!!!!!! tonyr- Thank You! VMIUJcadet09- Glad you like the new style! Tonraq- Thanks, I made sure the buildings I picked were top fashion! Neto Dari- Thanks! Seems like Downtown is everyone's favorite! Tankmank- Thanks!I really need to do more like this! RATE, COMMENT, FOLLOW, AND +1

That RHW tunnel is a beauty, as well as the sky blue building in the fifth-to-last picture! Great, great work! -
Very nice night shot! Can't wait to see the completed downtown. But I must ask do you sharpen the image because my night shots if I took a night shot it would look like 1080p while yours look like 4K.

Another French Fry Skyscraper in New York? [Poll]
coolwiththecool2 replied to Duke87's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
Cost of living is just high in NYC and other urban centers compared to urban centers of urban countries. You could move to the south, which has the lowest cost of living in the us, but that could partially be because its the poorest region in the us. But here wherever you move your employer will adjust your income to make sure you won't have to change your quality of life in a city thats more/less expensive. Example: if you live in the the Phoenix area where I live, make around 100k usd a year and move to Manhattan while keeping the same job, your salary will skyrocket to at least 255k usd a year to accommodate the higher cost of living. The biggest danger of that subduction zone is the cascade volcanoes, the bigger earthquakes don't occur often enough to worry about it in our lifetimes. But the Pacific Northwest is one of the best places in North America. The blocks in Manhattan are really small, if they try to build normal skyscrapers in other boroughs people will get mad, and if they annex some of their quiet little suburbs people will still get mad. The weird looking pencil towers are their only choice to keep stable population growth and not be like L.A. I really don't see why NYC can't just expand outward like cities have in the past. The US has so much near-open space that's occupied by people who own monstrous plots of land for no reason (not even to farm it). Furthermore, if you look at NYC, there's a plethora of 10-20 story apartments/tenements/etc that could be leveled and built up (in such a way that the area is still affordable to the current residents (boo gentrification)). And on the topic of annexing suburbs and causing the suburbans to get mad... I don't mean to sound rude, but who cares? They can built their cheaply-made hideous mcmansions over again a few more miles out while the city (which should frankly trump the suburbs due to greater population and general importance) expands. I guess my relatively negative attitude stems from the fact that I live in the city limits of Memphis and am disgusted by the way the people in the suburbs behave. They seem to think that their little made up towns should be able to trump the will of the exponentially more populous city that just-so-happens to employ them. In addition to that, they don't even pay taxes for the ridiculous wear and tear they cause our roads and highways with their daily commute, as well as the usage of our other amenities. So I guess I'm biased. Oh well. In NYC's case, I'd rather them build up more reasonably-sized buildings over the old shorter ones (that aren't worth keeping (I'm not a fan of bulldozing stylish old buildings)) and expanding the city outwards. Frankly this image doesn't bug me at all, EXCEPT for that atrocious french fry in the top left corner towering over what looks like the Chrysler Building. It just doesn't fit in. Even you built it in classic art deco style it wouldn't fit in (I'm not dissing modern styles, I actually m a huge fan of modern and contemporary stuff). It just doesn't fit in to the skyline well. This picture (the shorter stuff in the foreground and midground) also reminded me of what Melbourne does - build the new stuff on the roof of the old stuff. It's a strange concept, no doubt, but it's very cool because it preserves the street-level style people are used to but adds the necessary office/residential tower space. If they added the necessary support to the old structures, they could do just that. Its better they don't expand outward because quiet suburbs nested in dense forests will become endless square miles of apartments and occasional hi-rises. Basically people don't want NYC to turn into LA, not because of the pollution, which wouldn't be as bad anyway, but because of traffic and various other things. -

. I know. I've been to New York. But they made it work in the 30's, they made it work with the boxes in the 70's, and they made it work with 21st Century buildings like 383 Madison Avenue and Trump World Tower. How can they not make it work now? -snip- Personally I like the buildings, but not every single one of them match the older architecture of the city. And probably in about 15 years people would get used to it, maybe even sooner -

You could make one yourself using the Lot Editor without even BATing. Oh really? How would I go about doing that? I accidentally did something like it before. For example, make the lot 1x3, but a base texture on every one of the tiles, change it back to 1x1, and the other two are hanging off.
