Love your new project. About the scale... I'd suggest using the Camera Match tool in Max: it will create a camera in the same position as your reference picture and you'll be able to modify details based on it.

Ponte Sant'Angelo, once the Aelian Bridge or Pons Aelius, meaning the Bridge of Hadrian, is a Roman bridge in Rome, Italy, completed in 134 AD by Roman Emperor Hadrian, to span the Tiber, from the city center to his newly constructed mausoleum, now the towering Castel Sant'Angelo. The bridge is faced with travertine marble and spans the Tiber with three arches; it was approached by means of ramp from the river. Works as a Road Bridge Dependencies: NAMv30 or higher -
Zahrul3 Indonesian BATs(skip to back)

Making details with splines is still easy even without the sweep, though less flexible. You can make a spline with the shape of wathever you want to model (like a roof trim or a balcony), under edit mesh select the top polygons of the entire shape and use the bevel-extrude to shape it. Or you can use loft (basicly the same with more complex options). -

The Zeughaus (old Arsenal) in Berlin, Germany is the oldest structure on the Unter den Linden. It was built by the Brandenburg Elector Frederick III between 1695 and 1730 in the baroque style, to be used as an artillery arsenal for the display of cannons from Brandenburg and Prussia. The first building master was Johann Arnold Nering. After his death in 1695, he was followed by Martin Grünberg, then Andreas Schlüter and finally Jean de Bodt. Andreas Schlüter designed the keystones above the round-arch windows in the from of heads of giants. Georg Friedrich Hitzig (1811-1881) constructed the monumental flight of steps to the upper floor of the north wing and also a roof over the courtyard. The building was transformed into a military museum in 1875. Location: Education menu Museum 9x9 Plop cost:3,000 Nightlighted -
Zahrul3 Indonesian BATs(skip to back)

Nice work! The textures could improve. And also, you are missing some essential details to pull off this style of buildings. For example, cornices. If you're interested, here's a little tutorial I made to help out with this kind of things: https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=14690.0 -
Well here's a comparison of the same building with different renderer. As you can see, the Mray looks more detailed but also more "plastic", The shadows are too sharp and their hue is different. All the colors in general are different. To me it is a bad trade-off, aestheticly it doesn't fit with the current parisian set, even though it looks better by itself, as opposed to the scanline, which might not look so good, but won't stand out at all among its peers. Some might say the difference is too subtle, but at least to me it is extremely irritating. As for marczar, I'm not sure what he'll be using. His early works were scanline, but recently I've seen previews with both renderers. I don't know what he'll use eventually. PS. Sorrry for hijacking your thread, Harishna

It certainly depends of the BATs sorrounding it. BSP, and other north american BAT sets, are mostly Mray, making new Mray BATs is only natural. But for other types like Parisian (Xannepan, Porkie, etc..) or german (Odd frown sweden, erdmoebel, etc..), there is a huge amount of content in scanline already made and their creators are not around anymore to update them to Mray. This happens too with Latin american BATs, we already have a good amount of them by Heblem, Berethor and others; and it would be desirable that any new BATs made for that set blend with it rather than clash.

Mental ray certainly looks better than scanline, by itself. The problem is that because of the differences in lights and shadows, they stick out too much, particularly if they are W2W against buildings rendered in scanline (as the vast majority of them are to date) so, they don't blend easily. That's why I prefer scanline than mental ray on these kind of buildings.
-
Those look great! but if you're doing W2W's I beg you to use scanline renderer or at least provide us with a scanline version.

Some of them would be great for LE... would add some "retro style" to our cities. I specially liked the "red ground2" and "grass-mowed". Here's a tutorial on how to make them: https://www.simtropolis.com/omnibus/_/simcity-4/modding-information/how-to-create-and-mod-textures-r180

Indeed, the techniques would be similar, but that's bad news, because it means that to BAT each one will be very hard and time consuming. That's why it is unlikely that someone will take the time to make them. Its a nice building, however, I don't care much for skyscrapers... but there are lots of BATers who I'm sure would be interested in making them.
-
I'm sure they CAN be made... the problem doing all the work to make them Speaking for myself, the Strassburger Muenster is on my to-do list, but I still have many other projects to finish before I consider strting on it.

Nope, sorry. I don't think any of the other buidings you requested exist.

The idea is nice, I really think we are lacking of many grand Spanish buildings, but the execution not so good. You've made too little effort with the modelling and relied on not very good textures to do the job (in all your models). And I wouldn't bash madhatter106 if I were you, rather listen to his advice as he is an authority on these matters.

The textures now look fantastic, but maybe you could add some detailing on the roof, perhaps model the plate divisions instead of just trusting the (too faint) texture alone. Simfox: I absolutely agree that the new rendering engines used look very impressive and bring out the detais that one worked so hard on which otherwise won't be appreciated at all. However, when I place one of these models among the rest of BATs created (specially among W2W), it just breaks my liver to see how they stand out too much and don't merge with their sorroundings, specially in color tonality.
-
These are very nice! I specially love the first one. Could you make a standard scanline-rendered version as well?

Looks great, but I've got some suggestions: the details are too superficial, the windows should be deeper into the wall, have slightly thicker beams and the moldures should be more prominent as well, right now it looks as if most of it were only a texture placed onto a group of plain boxes. Also, I think it's a little too stretchedon the Z axis. Texture color balance is Ok, but some of them look rather plastic, specially the red brick.
