Very helpful post, big thanks from me as I have only just started playing the game again - I have no custom content and dont want any...I have (of course) got the NAM though. I spent a while going through youtube tutorials which I didn't find very helpful where as your post has my head more straight about how to set up my city correctly.

What is? The 'Money Tree' or the fact the guy asked on this site...which is NOT just for the new simcity.

Ahh, my bad I did read it wrong, now I am confused if I have the NAM 30 or 31 installed...also, I am beginning to think I should be taking these queries elsewhere, anyone have a look to point me in the right direction. I have looked in my documents but the NAM doesnt say if its 30 or 31! I really appreciate the help, thanks.

Cool I'll leave the Z_NAM thing. The fix I mentioned was called - NetworkAddonMod_Hotfix301_13April2012 its been removed now also, as just trying to get the game to work without crashing. So techincally apart from the NAM 30 (yes 30) I have no custom content!

Hi folks, When I had my old PC I had a load of custom content and thought it was amazing, but as my PC wasnt all that powerful the game was pretty slow. I am in between PC's again and the one I have just now is pretty basic so when I decided to re-install SC4 I though I wont bother with custom content. From past experience though I feel the NAM is a must, so I downloaded the NAM (with the 31 fix) - and maybe someone can help here, my game keeps crashing...could that be the PC can't handle the game or could I have downloaded the NAM wrong....because I didnt have any previous versions of it I assumed it would be ok. I am going to try un-installing it and re-installing it, or even just look for an older version. While I am in that fold to delete things I found I had some waste management thing so thats been deleted...I have the NAM and somethign called 'Z_NAM' which is seperate, should I delete that? The custom stuff is good, makes the game look so much better. As people have mentioned, the same building popping up is a pain in the erse!

This could end up being a massive flop, I dont own the new one - hell I only discovered it was out yesterday - but have watched loads of videos and read loads of reviews and comments on here. From what I have seen so far, I will be sticking with SC4 for a good while yet, I will keep an eye on how things improve with the new game but the problems so far have put me and probably another good few thousand people off buying the new game.

Good start Hamish, will certainly be following your progress...more so because of the fact I only just discoved SC13 is even out! I was an massive fan of SC4 but my PC died and I lost all the stuff I had done on it over years so lost the will to start again. Out of pure luck I came across a review on Youtube and instantly went looking for Simtroplis! So for now I will be watching clips, and CJ's while I wait to get a new (better) PC than I currently have and can't wait to get back playing!!

Just to add, even with Deluxe/Rush Hour you may still get brown boxes with downloads from the STEX....this is because some downloads also require Dependancies for them to show properly in the game. Also, to save me starting a new thread I'll ask a quick question myself... Unfortunately, my PC decided to die on me the other day so I have had to do a full system recovery - meaning I lost ALL my plugins and have had to start all over again (grrrr). I am just going to download a few essentials (NAM/Garbage Chute/asphalt texture/highway walls and a transportation skin). I am not going to bother with downloading loads of plugins incase this happens again before I purchase a new PC. So, to my question....I seem to remember that there was a patch out for Sim City 4, I have the deluxe edition...do I need to find/download the patch or can I just continue? Thanks in advance TFM1874

Highway walls certainly help, get them on the STEX. Obviously distance will play a factor, keep experimenting and you'll suss it......hopefully!

Why is there a lack of assistance from Monte Cristo on these boards also, not just this thread but others too? Poor customer service now, imagine what it will be like once the game makes its full launch?

Thats what I done bud, but still no joy - strange how some seem to be playing the demo and had no problems?

I am in the same boat, I downloaded the demo (had to do that twice) and registered with the online site - yet still no sign of my validation email....I cant even try again as I tried that and get a message saying that 'this computer is already registered'. Any ideas, seriously putting me off the game and I havent even had a chance to play it yet?
