  2. Installing SimCity 4 mods

Hello and welcome to Simtropolis SimCity can't read .zip files. You need to unzip its content into the plugins folder. Then the game will read the landmarks.
  3. I found a masterpiece and I must share it to you!
  4. Version 1.0.0

I've been a member of SimCity community since December of 2008 and I've seen many incredible and obscure stuff on the Internet. One of them, and one of my very first downloads, was the Quandrahedron Matrix, originally made by @2ch.net simplayer. It's a set of futuristic buildings with bridges that can be build in a way to make a network of those buildings, a "matrix" if you prefer, allowing you to have a futuristic urban environment with cities above your cities. The original set has 3 levels of them and provides plenty of jobs for your Sims, making them both useful and awesome looking. Unfortunately, the original version also suffers from the plop-without-a-building bug. Here is what happened. You build your city, when suddenly you hear the sound of something being plopped. But not by you! You start looking at your city to see that happened and you find an empty grow-able lot. You check the lot and it's the landmark itself. Somehow, the landmark started to "grow" in your city by itself, but the landmark itself never appears and you only get empty lots that messes with your skyline and ruin your city. Never hear that? New for you? If yes I envy you, because it used to be a more common bug back then. And because of this bug, I just can't use the the original version. Fortunately, @Zelgadis made an alternative version of the Quandrahedron Matrix (link below) that fixes the problem by removing the jobs altogether. This might makes the buildings less practical, but it fixes the problem and makes them more flexible, so you can build them anytime and anywhere you wish, even in the middle of the wilderness if you want. A city above nature. Zelgadis' version comes with 4 lots: standalone, dead end with 1 bridge, 2 bridges as corner and 2 bridges in a straight line. While more stable and highly recommended, I soon realized that something is missing here. Intersections. For some reason, Zelgadis didn't included T and + intersections. So I decided to fix this problem by creating them. This set adds the two missing intersections. By mixing Zelgadis' parts and my parts, you can finally build epic networks of cities above your cities or above mother nature, or both. To connect the bridges, make sure there is a 52 tiles gap between the buildings. Do some experiments, make the right combinations, use some extra stuff if you wish, and you'll have awesome cities of tomorrow in no time. Sure this is anything but realistic, but look how much I care about realism. I don't care Here is how to install it: 1) If you don't have it, get the Zelgadis' Quandrahedron Matrix add-on first. Download it, unzip it and place it at your plugins folder. Without it, my two lots will be useless. 2) Download my intersections lots. For convenience, I recommend you to place them at the quardalvl1 Folder folder. 3) Zelgadis used a texture from PEG MTP SUPER PACK from @Pegasus for his lots. Since my intersections are an expansion of his work, I used the same texture too. If you don't have already this dependency, get it now. 4) Open the game and have fun! Big thanks to both 2ch.net and Zelgadis for their work
  5. Show us your Overview of your City/Town

Optin Town is a small town which was build under strict environmental criteria. The challenge here was to build a city that provides the highest living standards to its citizens possible with the lowest environmental footprint possible. This means the the construction and the running of the city must utilizes green energy sources, environmental friendly technologies, plenty of green zones and mass transit, and minimize terraforming. In other worlds, a city that respects the landscape. Because of the hilly land and the environmental limitations, Optin Town is actually three smaller villages connected to each other by roads and subways, which form the town. The town uses only environmental friendly technologies to provide electricity, clean water and waste management to its residences. This includes geothermal energy, pumping and purifying the fresh water of the river, recycling materials and using plasma gasification process to vaporize waste material. Each village has its own dynamics and personality. This one has the mayor's house, the town's high school and the digital cemetery. This one is the larger one and has the central hall, the spiritual temple, the hospital and the digital library. And this one has the meteorological center and small farms and industries.

Brilliant work, bravo! Actually, using FLUPs is not exactly a compromise. There have been various plans that put all the traffic from cars, trucks and trains under the surface, leaving the street level for exclusive pedestrian use (and for tram lines too in your city). Something like this old concept: Keep it up, I can't wait to see it completed

Ah, I see. So it's an automata? Cool. From this point of view, your "blimp" looks more like a General Atomics Avenger without it's main wings. So you're going to reskin CAN-AM into ANT-AM (Antigravity Addon Mod)? I'm really curious to see what you have in your mind and I can't wait to see what you have next. Keep it up

Judging it by the size and the shape of the vehicle, it looks like a small truck that carry supplies. Very cute. It's a prop and not an automata, right?
  9. Show us What you're Working On

@Raymond7cn: It looks like something between a very small blimp and a racing car from F-Zero

@Raymond7cn: Those Tron-styled roads looks like the roads from SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow when you evolve your cities into the future, with neon lights instead of dash lines. Of course your roads will be way better and more awesome than that Re-texturing the entire road system will be a serious project with all those bits and pieces you need to change, especially if you take NAM into consideration as well, and obviously you'll have to do it. I also believe that you can achieve that by changing the textured and by adding transparent T21 props with nightlights as well, but I'd suggest you ask a NAM member for more details and help. As about tweaking CAN-AM, this reminds me an old topic in SC4D that I was asking if it's possible to have streets, roads, one-ways and avenues with flying cars hovering around. Theoretically it's possible by making invisible elevated roads, so that the cars "look" like they're flying, but to the game they're just on an elevated road that's invisible. Alternatively, instead of making an entire new road system, we could make a new generation of automata with the ability of flying a few meters above both the road and the ground vehicles, making the roads multilevel, looking something like this... Sadly I can't help you in the practical mode. I'm not a modder and I know nothing about making T21s, textures and cars. I can only give you ideas and support. That's the only thing I can do right now
  12. Cutaway Texture Mod 2.0

This mod is awesome and highly recommended to anybody wants to give the game a breath of fresh air. Those textures are so detailed and their quality just can't be described with works. Actually, there is one word, and that word is "thanks" for making this mod The first style is my favorite. Having magma under your cities gives you a feel of danger and change, making it so badass

  14. Best park mods to use?

Hello, Issam I'm also in a progress of rebuilding my plugin folder. Right now I have a mix of Maxis parks, SimMars parks, Pegasus parks (both Utopian and Mountain Theme Pack) and parks made by me, as well as parks made by Mattb, Mas71, deadwoods and many others, and many years ago I had even more parks and plazas in my toolbar. Here are some of my personal recommendations: You might also want to give my Plaza-Parks a try. If you don't know if you want a park or a plaza, have them both

We all know that complex and sometimes controversial topics such as history and politics can always lead to different opinions and disagreements, but please let's keep it clean and not start mocking and wishing for terrible days to each others. - Moderator Terring
  16. I know this feeling. My favorite type of music is new age/ambient electronic, such as Vangelis and Tangerine Dream, and YouTube ended up suggesting me 80's Italian disco and synthwave. No complains through
  17. Show us your Futuristic Creations!

Thank you for your kind words, Ray . Judging by your BATing skills, I'm pretty sure your futuristic lots will be truly out of this world. If you're doing some of them, I have plenty of ideas to provide to you.

  19. Show us your Futuristic Creations!

This is my first city that takes the concept of 3D cities into a more practical way, by becoming a multi-level city. Based on Francisco Mujica's 100-Story City, a 1929 concept about multi-level city... ...I made a city with a big ground level and a smaller one above. The result is having 2 cities over each other, independent from each other but also connected to each other. As you can see, the upper level consists by a few and smaller buildings, connected to each other by bridges and by the ground level by stairs. Of course those buildings are on the roof of bigger buildings, so we can imagine that Sims can just use elevators to change level, or "city roof" as we can call it. The next experiments will have larger and even more city roofs and a much larger variety of combinations and designs . For now, this is what I've made.

Aw, don't get me wrong. You've made an incredible job to make your BAT less like a cake and more like an epic fantasy structure. The roof of the building with the castle looks so glorious and I can't wait to see it completed By the way, the more I look at it, the more it reminds me the intro of Civilization III.
