Socialism doesn't work becaue people have no incentive to work if the government provides you with everything you need. If you live in a classless society you don't have a reason to go to work to try to improve your quality of life. In the Capitalist society you have to work to survive. If you work hard and apply yorself you have a better chance at making more money and improving your quality of life. In my opinion we're still to socialist in the U.S. If the U.S. became a true free-market society, the economic power would be unimaginable because there would be almost no government intervention, except in the most serious circumstances. In America today the government involves itself in business to much . I feel that we're being held back and the economic potential of the U.S. hasen't been fully realized yet because of the many government restrictions.

The bottom interchange is where Fairfax County Parkway crosses over Lee Highway(US29), at Fair Lakes. The top interchange looks like 66 at Chain Bridge Road(VA 123) near Oakton.

The SimCity 5 Thread (Formerly "Is SimCity 5 Ever Coming Out?").
southsider replied to xterra09's topic in City-Building Games
EA has degenerated from once quality and reliable game-making, to the cartoonish junk that is SCS. Maybe SCS was made to hold us over, while EA secretly works on a better Sim City that will be the heir to Sim City 4. It also could be that SCS was rushed out to get feed-back from the hard-core fans on what to put in the next true Sim City, again I think this happens while someone secretly works on a Sim City. They release the new Sim City to shock us. -

Most of the new "commercial music" of today sounds monotinous to me. I like the old school stuff, Hendrix, The Who, Rolling Stones, Cream, The Ramones, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker. In my opinion, The Ramones were the last great band before monotinous commercial music took over.

I'm stuck between Hendrix, The Who, The Ramones, and Cream.

Iranian National Guard threaten US warships
southsider replied to belfastuniguy's topic in Current Events
Iran wants to draw the US into a situation where they can portray us as the aggressors and have the world back them up. Only problem with their plan is the Iranians are incompetent just like the former Soviet Union. -
I don't think the government should have absolute power over the economy and people's money. Socialism looks good on paper, but socialism has never been succesful. Capitalism is the best form of economy and government to run because it gives people the freedom to do what they want with their money and is the most succesful system. Socialism drags everyone down while capitalism makes everyone better.

Baltimore Convention Center. It's so ugly because it's almost surrounded by rowhouses. Looks out of place.

Vladimir Putin named Time's person of the year
southsider replied to crazyyaya's topic in Current Events
You can't trust Putin or Russia as far as you can throw them. Putin holds tremendous power over the people. Since the end of the Cold War people have been saying how Russia is making improvements and moving forward. That's complete garbage, Putin has taken Russia a step forward and then a step back. I feel bad for the Russian people because they are so used to the almighty government telling them what to do they can't snap out of the cycle of one cooked government after another. Putin's government tells the people what to think, how to think, and when to think. The only thing that's different about Russia now than from the Cold War is the flag. Time is run by our fine(wink, wink) United States media that is swarming with flag-burners, Commie Pigs, and other assorted groups of anti-Americans. You just have to know the editors of Time are Putin's homies. -
The Great Debate- "Merry Christmas" vs. "Happy Holidays"
southsider replied to purpledaddy's topic in Current Events
It's the pointy-headed interest groups and some politicians who like to force feed everyone their dosage of "political correctness".In my dealings with people I've noticed that those who think "Merry Christmas" offends someone are usually your usual white suburaban citizens. It usually gives me a good chuckle because of such blatant foolishness when someone pulls a "Happy Holidays" on me. -
