Good morning. Ma goodness, it's good to be back after so many years!! I just bought the game from GOG. But I am still using my old laptop from years ago to run gmax, lot editor, iLive, and the plug in Manager, using a USB to transfer the file to the new PC. anyways, when I was an avid fan of the simulation, I knew a descent knowledge of the game. I even figured out how to dismantle a dependency file in .DAT format using ilive and grab the ones I actually use instead of loading the whole dependency file in the plugins folder. So, my question is this: Is there anyway to adjust the building capacity of the maxis buildings? for example, R$1_1X2 has like, 20 people living inside. I know I need the descr file in order for me to adjust the parameters. But since I am only altering in-game buildings in the lot editor, it would only generate a "custom lot" file and no descriptor file. I tried to use iLive, but no luck. I could have sworn there was a way. Can anyone help refresh my memory please!!

i hate to bother you guys with this, but on the Lot Editor, what is the difference between "save" and "save as"? I like to edit lots from the game (not from st exchange) and i am just curious. if i hit the "save" button, does it replace the in-game lot? or do i hit the "save as"

also, i should also mention that there is a descriptor file for that particular prop pack. it's on another file that I downloaded. the downloaded file contained several lot files and one descriptor file. so i started playing with the descriptor file I opened the ilive reader and ran the prop pack(new copy).and I also ran the descriptor file. I copy the exemplar file from the descriptor file and pasted it on the prop pack and saved it. Then, I went back to the lot editor, and saw the building in the "buildings tab" do you think my first method will give me problems in the simulations? as far as changing parameters, I didn't changed much stuff. I'm still learning that side. I"m trying to gauge the realism of some the numbers on the parameters. is there a guide on that? cuz, some of the residential lots in the simulation and the lots from the st exchange are not very realistic. hey bro thank you for the reply quick question man. exemplar files are like the descriptor files right? or no? cuz, i plugged a prop pack (building prop pack) and when i went in to the lot editor, the buildings were not showing up on the prop section of the lot editor (the buildings were not showing up, but the little things did, like the sign and all that stuff) . So, I opened up Ilive Reader and opened that particular prop pack and I went through each entry and I noticed something. the little stuff that were showing up on the lot editor had an exemplar file, but the buildings did not have an exemplar file. So, I opened the plug-in manager, I dragged the model file to the prop side of lot editor (there were several model files) and it created a descriptor file. so i clicked on the descriptor file and changed some of the parameters (more questions on that later about the parameters). Then, I went back to iLive Reader, and copied the exemplar file from the descriptor file and pasted it on the prop pack(DAT) file. I saved it the prop pack (it was a trial run, I only played around with a copied DAT file). Then after that, I went back to the lot editor, and there it is, the building was on the prop list. My question is, was that the right way? will i run into any problems in the simulation Thanks bro!! -

Good day people. I was just wondering is it possible to extract only certain props from a prop pack, so you only load the ones that you use? I remember a while a go there was a tutorial by pegasus on how to do it? can anyone shed any light on this

default properties for maxis utility buildings (plugin mgr)

Good morning everyone..just a quick question.don't know if this has been asked already. does anyone know the default properties for the maxis schools, police, fire, etc. i tried making my lot, and i would like to copy the maxis default properties as a baseline data in the plug in manager before i start manipulating it thanks guys -

good morning everyone..just a quick question.reason for this post is that i'm trying to learn how to BAT and need some clarification. does it matter if I use SC4 B.A.T. or GMAX? i know that SC4 BAT is an extension of GMAX, but i'm trying to find out if where I should focus my attention on..Or does it even matter which one I should use. any replies or insight would be greatly appreciated.

lot size (LE) another quick question...will changing the lot size prevent the lot from growing? let's say you want to change a R$$$1 to conform to a preferred zoning (all residential zoning in the test city is 1x2)- 82 Replies
