  1. Introduce Yourself Here!

Hello everybody! I've been away from ST for 10 years (probably a little more), but nostalgia brings me back, hopefully for a while. The edgelord-y name of my account is not so nostalgic, but hey, we were all cringey teens haha. Hopefully I don't have equally cringey signature on this forum post too. I started playing SC4 around 2005/2006 and joined here in 2007. I even made a few contributions to the STEX (they weren't particularly good, 3D modeling is hard haha), and I think one of my creations was even included on one of those STEX DVDs. However, the old beige Dell desktop computer I used back then would struggle playing a heavily modded game, so my interest waned as high school went by. Freshman year of college I went to Galena, Illinois here in the US (beautiful small town, check it out) and I felt the urge to play again, but my brand-new laptop at the time also had problems playing the game. And here I am now, thinking about playing SC4 seriously again, but probably just for a couple hours a week. I am a software engineer for a living, an avid reader, and I like to write fiction for myself (I have my own science fantasy setting that I love worldbuilding in).
  2. That last status message of mine sure aged well haha

  3. Getting back in the game soon. Look out!

  4. Baker Building

another keeper from one of the best.
  5. Club Goober

great to see your work again, everything is phenomonial.
  6. Gasol Pharma

Texturing needs a little work, looks a little clean to me. But as always, the modeling is terrific. Good job as usual, 8/10
  7. The Greater Terran Region

As Peter Griffin would say: That...Is...Awesome!
  8. Jobs

There are ways to do so, but the programs that do that are not designed with user-friendliness in mind.
  9. Necessity of Highways

I don't have any concrete facts for how or why highways may or may not be necessary, but I believe that it is up to your desire, whether for realism or ease of use. I use highways because I find them easier to build than mass transit systems.
  10. The Greater Terran Region

Those with great patience are rewarded with tremendous success. Your RHW system is very impressive.
  11. American 2008 Election

Even though Barack Obama was not my first choice of president and I disagree with many of his issues and stances, I will support him. After all, he was elected by the people of this country to *try* to change it for the better. May he do well and begin the path to a more perfect union.
  12. Burj Al Alam the World Tower

Dang...that's pretty good. The textures need work though. 9/10
  13. Updated: Cities XL may be something for me.

Of course Cities XL is going to look cartoonish, today's computers are far, far away from a hyper realistic viewpoint. You argue that there are many games right now that look very realistic and not cartoonish, but those game don't give you the immense customization as a city simulator does. Hence, fully 3D city simulators WILL look cartoonish until computer power is high enough for realistic graphics AND immense amount of customization.
  14. The Story of Mount Rose and Mount Grace, California

Ah yes, the vision of the future...I love it. Great update, a precursor to what will become. It is even happening right as you write this CJ, the relics of the past are being eliminated, preparing for the future
  15. Halifax,Iowa-A Metropolis in the Making!

Nice airport! It boggles me how people can make these airports. I like how you are also sticking it to the greenies with making it "The Greenest Airport in the Country".
