Adding Variety to Maxis Zones
edmonton_stinks replied to Xplorer4x4's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Well they should be similar but not identical. Depending on the population capacity a building has, some will grow far more aggressively than others. If you want all your buildings to grow at the same rate, you need to change the population capacity on the SC4Tool, so that all similar buildings grow in fairly equal amounts. -
Welcome back! The Mediterranean buildings are good but I somewhat miss the commieblocks. I love the government buildings! Very nice modern/ancient contrast.
-
Don't forget Gascooker's stuff; no British city would be complete without it! Though it's not here, it's over at SC4D.

...Spectacular. I keep liking this more!

ROOF JUNK Looks nice though! That shape must have taken forever to get right. -
Now that is a big house! I wonder if property values are a little lower near there, prospective buyers might get the wrong idea.

Beautiful buildings! These would be very well received on the STEX.

Halifax,Iowa-A Metropolis in the Making!

It's Australia, but people are still driving on the right. Also, there's a giant garbage heap. -
The shrubs do look very good in the corners, they kind of make the building look nicer. Is this going to be a R$$?

Change Residential lots to commercial
edmonton_stinks replied to Sky Guy's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
SC4Tool maybe? That would be my only guess. -
Wow, great contrast in the last picture! I'm also loving the coastal, colonial and market stall restaurants!

Gn_leugim: Wow, all I can say is there must be some really unoriginal architects out there. "Hey Bob, I found this kinda triangular design in Portugal. I think we should copy it exactly." If the front window was weird, it might have been because it was off-centre, but that's been fixed now. jacqulina: Thanks! benvoliothefirst: I use real estate listings for inspiration, and believe me, I've got a long line of projects ahead. I would try and fix the roof on the model with the weird triangle, but I couldn't make the facade work well in simcity. Too much blank space. And yes, I have two with a gabled roof and two with a hip roof (I think). So, the models are done now and I've begun exporting. Only problem is, I'm not the best lotter in the world. I tried just sticking my houses onto Maxis lots, but it just didn't look right somehow. If anyone has any tips, suggestions or links to lotting tutorials it would be much appreciated.

Two thumbs up! It looks like an expensive hotel so far. -
Detroit generally makes me sad, how so many beautiful buildings have been either torn down or ravaged from the inside out. The towers are looking great! They would be very useful, especially for Toronto-style (lots of large, brick housing towers) cities.
-
You can make textures with the SC4Tool, and I'm pretty sure you can use also use it to compress the various texture files into one.
-
That building is looking really good! It could be quite useful for downtown areas, the architecture is a very distinct New York style.
-
The windows are too opaque and the colour doesn't really look like glass...perhaps you could view gn_leugim's nightlighting tutorial on the omnibus.
-
Interesting model. It might look good in a roundabout as well.
