  1. Suburb of the Day: Northeastern City, Missouri

Looks like a pretty wealthy area, though I can't believe how affordable that new development is!
  2. Mntoes - UK housing project

I definitely prefer the second version. The house is looking good!
  3. Edessa Update 3

That's a nice region you have to work with, and the village seems to have a lot of potential. My one major issue is the sheer number of roundabouts, particularly in the second to last picture. It doesn't seem necessary somehow...
  4. A triumph! That 4.09 rating is a travesty, come on people!
  5. The different looks of NYC

Wow! This definitely was one of the CJs that needed the NWM the most. That retaining wall must have been an ordeal. You did very well with it!
  6. Natural Development: From Settlement to Metropolis

Wow, I really enjoyed reading through the start of your journal, from a railway stop to a sizable town. I expect all those narrow roads are in for some serious growing pains...Oh, the perils of doing everything realistically.,
  7. Smart growth, or not?

Architects were the first proponents of New Urbanism, as the first article mentioned, and one major drawback to New Urbanism is that it over-emphasizes aesthetic; often seeming to focus more on looking cute than functional design. McKenzie Towne in Calgary is a new urbanist neighbourhood, and it looks the part. Check out this architecture! It's even got an attractive shopping street. Well, some parking is always going to be needed, and the street accommodates it well. Although there is the matter of the wide, parking lot-esque alley running behind the shops. But look at this corner building...wait, that picture actually looks like any other suburban plaza. Also, the shopping street in the second image is located in an artificially created centre; there is no bus route that runs along the street, and only a couple of community shuttle routes that run near it. These buses pick people up from around the neighbourhood and transport them to the C-Train station, about 15 minutes down the highway. Pretty standard for many suburbs in the city. But the buildings sure are attractive!
  8. Mntoes - UK housing project

I hate roof textures; they're incredibly frustrating. The new texture you're using looks pretty good, I think, but it might work better if the individual tiles were a little more defined.
  9. Capital IV - "Malinowka" Estate

Oh wow, Malinówka is just awful! Of course, I mean that in the best possible way.
  10. BL's BATs - Now Using 3ds max!

I'm not usually a fan of elevated structures, but a bikeway might actually be pretty cool.
  11. SL Directory - Houses of Worship

Your city is too attractive, dammit! Personally, I don't think the area around Our Lady of Guadalupe looks that rough at all.
  12. Explore The East Side Press Release

Wow, very suburban! I expect the East Side will sell quite well.
  13. BL's BATs - Now Using 3ds max!

ImVhOzzi: They are part of an urban waterslide network, which provides a wet 'n' wild alternative to riding a crowded bus.
  14. Welcome to the Waters

River Falls returns! I look forward to seeing what you have.
  15. Iconium Tram System

Looking forward to the next update; I like what I see. Very nice transit tour!
  16. Hampsterdam a city of Contrast

Very nice city! When I saw the title "city of contrast" I thought I would be seeing the rougher side, but in fact, just the opposite!
  17. UCC - Travis' Lot/Mod/BAT workshop

Excellent work! I love buildings like that one that fit into the game so easily.
  18. SPAs Urbanist BAT Thread

Great idea to SC4-ize such a beautiful building. Within the context of the game, it could potentially work quite well as a hotel, particularly in resort towns.
  19. Oliver

Excellent work as always. The highrises backing out onto the undisturbed riverfront are quite a rare phenomenon; I'm sure that's part of what makes the neighbourhood so desirable. Oliver seems like the kind of place I'd like to live!
  20. Shiloh Seaport

Now that is a great looking port! Just gritty enough to look like the real thing.
  21. Hatchet's BAT's

I find street view to be a great resource as well, as it allows you to see buildings from multiple angles as well.
  22. The Rennisance Worthington Project

If you know how to do it, then by all means, do it! One thing about BATing buildings yourself is that no matter what anyone else says, you alone have the final say as to what ultimately gets made.
  23. It's never easy to recover custom content. On the plus side, you have a great region to work with.
  24. Volsk, Falkasia

Interesting start; the North American style houses don't normally work with communist (or formerly communist) CJs, but with a small town it seems to fit quite well. I wonder what tricks the mayor has up his sleeve?
  25. Ghetto and desiberality

If the desirability is there, R$$ and R$$$ will come, seemingly even when there is skyrocketing demand for R$ and no demand for higher wealth levels. What I generally do is check the "Make Historical" box in the building query. That method is really time consuming, but I find that it works pretty well.
