1. Hi Odainsaker,

saludos

Hi peterycristi!

An Alexander Column for Cities: Skylines would be wonderful to see.  Fortunately, I did still have the textures I used, though I must admit the textures are pretty messy and the materials they were used in were rather clunky.  Feel free to use them as you wish.  Be aware that the textures were long ago clipped and radically manipulated out of images downloaded from the internet, and I can't claim ownership of the original internet images, but I doubt anyone is going to claim copyrights on tiny image pieces muddled into unrecognizable SimCity renderings.

I've attached 3 zip files here with all the textures I ultimately used, and have tried to indicate in each texture's naming where in the model they were applied.

2. Hi all together, some may know me from sc4 as i released some buildings there together with the good old german SFBT. But now i focus the little spare time i got on playing cities skylines, as this game gives you all the possibilities that we always wished to have in sc4. Unfortunatelly modding buildings for skylines is a completely different thing than to do for sc4 . So i started to play around a little bit with blender and some weeks later i had a first model. But now what? Anyone out there to give me some advices for texturing or at least a good tutorial? Every help is welcome to get this model where it belongs... The model is a lightly changed version of the main building of oslo university. I've never been to norway, but as this building follows the architecture of karl friedrich schinkel i like it a lot and by the way i thought that a european university building could be needed... saludos Peter

4. The Sculpture Creating Tutorial Hi folks, after some requests i decided to try to write a short sculpture creating tutorial. Sculpturing often seams to be one of the hardest parts of batting a building. But at all it's not that hard a lot of you might think. Here i'll try to explain how to create a simple sculpture in just 15 steps. I just hope with a satisfying result. Our testing object should be this logia from munich i did some time ago for a CJ. As you can see, we need two sculptures on the left and the right. The material should be bronce. But lets figure out, how to create them. Let's start with a simple sphere which we scale a little. The radius in our example is 0,955 but that should not be so important. Just select a size in which it is confortable for you to work with the basic bodies. Go on scaling down the y-axis by clicking with the right mouse on the scale icon above. This is our torax. Now just clone the sphere to go on modelling our sculpture. Next we'll do the head. Just scale the sphere down to 100% on all axis and now change the z-axis to get the shape of a head. Next you should scale down the "head" a little. Now we'll change the x-angel of the head, so that it fits better with our torax. In our example we choose the value -15,5, this is always a good value. So this were two of the essential steps. Now we go on modelling our sculture by repeating this three steps. Just change the angels and the scale of your spheres to simulate all the parts of the body. For the legs and the arm should always be the scale on the z-axis higher. For the lower parts of legs and arms the z-scale should be almost three times the x and y-scale to get a good reasult later. Just go on cloning the spheres and put your sculpture together until you got all parts you need. At next, well do the shapy dress of the sculture. Let's create a cylinder first. Now we choose edit mesh in the modyfier menu and the symbol for the polygon connections. Now go on moving every single point of our cylinder. Just think, that you don't need to work so exactelly, it's just to create the impression of a organic body. But it's not so important to really create a perfect copy of the real thing. After creating the dress of our sculpture just change the angels as you like and copy the modified cylinder as often, as you need it to create more variety, in our case two cylinders should be enough. At next, just select all the bodies of our sculpture and group them. Thats just more simple for the future steps. The next important part is the texturing. The combination of the simple sculpture modell and the right texture is the secret of creating scultures in my opinion. For our sculpture we choose a texture from a picture of the logia. By clicking on apply all the bodies of our sculture are pasted by the texture, but that still doesn't look so well. Thats why we put a UVW-map on our modell. As you see, the taxture now covers all the sculture. Now we just modify the hole thing a little by selecting cylinder for the UVW-map and change the values of the cylinder so, that it covers the complete modell. And here we are at the last step. Just move the sculpture on it's position and scale it down until it fits good in it's place. As you see we got a nice result in our render. I hope, this was usefull for you and it blows a little bit away the fear of creating sculptures. Just try it your own and you'll figure out that it's not so hard at all. saludos Peter

So take a look, of what will come soon!~ ~ We will have a stay at the "Museumsinsel". In five different museums you can enjoy tons of cultural goods like the great works of the german romantic in the old national gallery... ~ ~ ...or greek and agyptian arts in the old museum next to the cathedral.~ ~ Later we'll have a walk through the historic center of old Berlin and Cölln. ~ ~ And of course we can't miss the imperial palace! Now, that the emperor is gone, we can take a look inside and watch all the luxury he was living in! ~ ~ So i wish you all a happy new year 2012. Thanks for staying in touch with my MD. I hope you will enjoy the updates of this year and go on visiting me here. Take care all of you, may your wishes for the new year come true! ~

8. Update 5: "Gendarmenmarkt - The most beautifull place of the capital" ~Hey Guys! Here we are again! I listened about that Gendarmenmarkt should be the most beautifull place in Berlin. So I decided, that today I’ll take you there and we’ll have a look by ourselfs.~ CLICK ME! ~Look at these fantastic churches and the Schauspielhaus! On the left that should be the German Cathedral and on the right the French Cathedral. This is really impressive!~ ~Here in my travel guide it says, that in the 17th century a lot of french hugenotts settled down in this area. King Frederick I. gave a piece of land to the lutheran and hugenott community to build their churches. But again is was Frederick the Great who gave the look of today to the plaza. From 1780 to 1785 two identic towers were added to the churches.~ ~It’s name Gendarmenmarkt got the plaza, because in the years from 1736 to 1773 there were located the stables of the Kurassierregiment “Gens d’armes”. In the center of the plaza was built a new national theater by Carl Gotthard Langhans which burned down in 1817. The plans for the Schauspielhaus, which dominates the plaza until today, were made by Karl Friedrich Schinkel himself and the construction was finished in 1821.~ ~Until 1888 every week there was a market on Gendarmenmarkt. Just later the plaza was greened up an got it’s flower and plant ensembles.~ ~It is also a important spot for the democratic movement in Germany. In 1847 a first sign of the upcoming revolution (1848) was the so called “Kartoffelrevolution” when some people demonstrated here because of rising food prices. The victims of the march revolution in 1848 were bared on the steps of the german cathedral. And from september 1848 the Prussian National Congress used the great hall of the Schauspielhaus for their reunions.~ ~This is really a beautifull place, isn’t it guys? Well, I hope you liked our trip of today and we’ll see more of the city center soon. Take care!~ Special Thanks to Kelis who shared his Props and his modells for remodellation!
9. Second Update: A gate to the city - a gate to history ~ Well, here we are again. Hope you all had a good rest in the confortable beds of the Adlon. But come on, let's go out and see a bit of the city! Just out there is Pariser Platz. They call it the "salon" of the capital. I guess it's because all that famous buildings sorounding him. The french embassy, the Adlon, the academy of arts, the US-embassy, the Brandenburg Gate and at least the house of the famous painter Max Liebermann. ~ ~ This is a view from outside Pariser Platz. We are now standing in Tiergarten, the biggest park of Berlin. The Brandenburg Gate, built in 1788 to 1791 by Carl Gotthard Langhans, was part of the city fortification. When the citywalls were broke down in 1868 the two gate houses with there columns where built on the two sides of the gate. Today it still marks the entrance to the city center. That may be too why they call Pariser Platz the "salon" of Berlin. ~ ~ Brandenburg Gate has seen all the history of Berlin and at least Germany. In 1806 Napoleon marched into Berlin through this gate after defeating Prussia. The Quadriga (statue on top) was brought to Paris as a sign of victory. It returned in 1814 after the victory over Napoleon. The prussian general Blücher found it, still packed in boxes, in Paris. ~ Return of the Quadriga in 1814 ~ Also the Gate saw our victorious troops marchin in, after we defeated France in the war 1870/71 and after the empire was proclaimed in versailles. This was the year, that Berlin became capital of the german nation and from this point on it was growing until it got the busy and fast city of today. ~ ~ But it also saw our defeated troops marchin in after we lost the big war in 1918! But if we've not lost this war, maybe we still would have the Kaiser. So somehow i'm glad we lost, he is gone and the republic was proclaimed. ~ ~ Well guys, you see that building on the right side of Brandeburg Gate? That's the house of the famous jewish painter Max Liebermann! He is one of the most important painters of german impressionism. ~ Selfportrait of Max Liebermann 1916 ~ So this was a lot of information for today and i'm sure there would be to tell a lot of stories more about this famous entrance to Berlin. But i think it's enough for today. You just go out and have a look or a coffee. Just aware of the traffic! It has increased a lot since the big war is over, eh! Meanwhile i'll go to write a postcard to my beloved Emmy. ~ ~ See you soon, guys! ~
10. NDEX ITS Central Station

looks nice, but i'd prefer less textures and more details on the modell
11. Update4: "The government in Berlin is deposed!" - The Hitler-Putsch 1923 ~ Well guys, i'm sorry to interrupt your city tour, but i think, you should read the newspaper of today! You woun't believe what happend the last morning in the bavarian capital! The leader of the Nazi party, Adolf Hitler, and General Ludendorff (he was one of the leaders of the german military in the great war and a war heroe) tried to take the power in Munich! ~ ~ For god sake they didn't suceed! In a fight with the bavarian police the Putsch got stuck. But read it yourself. ~ ~ The Defenders of the Republic ~ ~ Gustav Stresemann - Reichschancellor 1923 to 1923 ~ ~ Friedrich Ebert - Reichspresident 1919 to 1925 ~ ~ Well guys, hope you liked that short history lesson. Who wants to know more can google for beer hall putsch. See you soon, back at the capital, visiting the city center... Take care, guys. This are very dangerous times... ~

well, a nice modell and beautifull adition for any historic city center. But you should try to fix the boolean mistake. the "seeing through" of the tower windows looks very strange...
15. Third Update: "Dem Deutschen Volke - To the german people" ~ Well guys, here we go on our trip through the historic capital. Today i thought we'll just take y look around the corner and visit the "Platz der Republik". It is a very quiet location, because it is just like a part of "Tiergarten" outside the city center. ~ ~ In the center of "Platz der Republik", which was called "Königsplatz" until the Revolution in 1918, is located the "Siegessäule" (Column of Victory). It was built from 1864 to 1873 as a monument for the victory in the unification wars. The last one against france in 1871 ended in the proclamation of the german empire and the foundation of the german nation. So today it is a national monument, which remembers everyone the birth of our country. ~ ~ Right in sight of the "Siegessäule" and directly in front of the "Reichstag" (Parliament building) is located the Bismarck National Memorial. It was erected from 1897 to 1901 and honours the founder of the nation. With a smart strategy he unified the german states and formed the nation in a so called "revolution from above". But his Germany became a monarchy with a parlament that had no real power. Even reforms in the end of the Great War couldn't avoid, that the monarchy felt down and Germany became a republic. Anyway, without the political genius of Bismarck Germany maybe would have never become a nation. ~ ~ Well the most dominant and impressive building at "Platz der Republik" is the parliament building, called "Reichstag". It was built in the neorenaissance style from 1884 to 1894 and planed by the german architect Paul Wallot. When emperor Wilhelm I. set the first stone for the new parliament building the hammer broke, as the monarchy did just 34 years later. ~ ~ There were a lot of controversies about the erection of the "Reichstag". As i told you, it is built in the district of Tiergarten, the biggest park of Berlin and so it is outside the city center. This is, because the emperor didn't like the idea, to have a parliament building inside his residential city. That's why they searched for a place outside historic city borders. Another thing, that anoyed the emperor was the fact, that the cupula should be higher than the cupula of the imperial palace. In his eyes, that meant, that the parliament would have more power than the emperor himself. ~ ~ Paul Wallot planed to dedicate the building to the german people. In the front prortal should be a inscription with exactly these words. But the "Reichstag" was finished without the dedication. It took until 1916, in the middle of the Great War, that the letters were put abouve the main entrance. Anyway this symbolic act of the emperor came too late to rescue the monarchy. With the defeat of our troops and the revolution in november 1918 the monarchy ended in Germany and Wilhelm II. went to the exile in Netherlands. ~ ~ On 9th november 1918, the social democratic parlamentarian Philipp Scheidemann proclaimed the german republic from one of the windows of the "Reichstag". Since that day, the parliament has a real power in our country and the words "To the german people" became true. Well guys, that was again a lot of information for today. Hope you enjoyed our short trip, the sights and the silence here outside the historic city center. Just take some more looks around. I'll just pic you up in some time to see the other side of "Platz der Republik". See you in a while, guys! ~
16. A gate to the city - a gate to history

R E P L I E S : @TowerDude: Thanks! I'm glad you like it @Glenni: Thanks a lot! I hope i can catch the spirit of that times. @Reikhardt: Thanks for your kind words! @JGellock: Great you like it! Thx @janslaven: Well i have to admit, that the scene is completelly lotted. I'm trying to build the historic Berlin in Sc4 , but some scenes are just realizable by lotting. So the tram an the cars are just props, hard to say where the cobblestone texture is from. Anyway i'm happy you like it. @Benedict: Thanks a lot, maybe the vehicles will be for download soon @TekindusT: Just love both of us

20. The arrival - a place to stay

First Update: The Arrival - a place to stay ~ Puh, what a travel! I thought this train will never arrive! But well, here we are. Berlin, our final destination! And here is my surprise for you: As this is just an MD and life in here doesn't cost anything, i thought, why don't invite you guys to the best adress of the capital!? So i booked rooms for all of us in the first adress on Pariser Platz, just next to the Brandenburg Gate; The worldfamous Hotel Lorenz Adlon!~ ~ This Hotel open it's doors in 1907 and during the years it became a institution and has seen all the famous names of it's time. Marlene Dietrich, Albert Einstein, Charly Chaplin! They all were here and enjoyed the luxurious ambient of this great place to stay. Unfortunatelly it was destroyed by a fire four days after the end of WW2, after passing the war nearly undestroyed. The ruins were broken down by GDR-authorities in the 80's. Today in it's place is a modern interpretation of the historic building and again the famous and beautifull prefer to stay in the Adlon. But that won't interest us so much, let's enjoy our stay in the historic building!~ ~ I organized for us a room with a beautifull view on the busy Pariser Platz and the Brandenburg Gate. So all the time you can enjoy the busy and roaring life of the capital. But now, i am really a bit hungry after traveling by train for so much hours. Let's see, what they got in the hotel's restaurant...~ ~ That really was delicious! And the wine... my god! Well on my way back to our room you won't believe who i saw just sitting in the lobby giving tip to a hotel boy! It was Thomas Mann, the famous writer! Really, i'm completelly sure! This must really be the best place to stay in Berlin.~ ~ Well folks, thats all for today. I hope you enjoyed our first evening in Berlin. Let's have a rest and tomorrow we'll have a look around on Pariser Platz. Can't wait to see the Brandenburg Gate!~

Berlin, du bist verdammt dazu ewig zu werden und niemals zu sein. Berlin, you are a city condemned forever to becoming and never being. Karl Scheffler ~ There is no other german city, no other capital in the world, that has seen so many fundamental changes of its self. Today, after the reunification of the two german states, Berlin is changing a lot again. It's searching for it's old glamour and for new one. It is a new capital carrying the boulders of history on it's shoulders. A city that has lost it's face. But what was this face? What city are we talking about? Which suposed old glamour is it searching for? ~ ~ I want to take you with me to a journey i just don't know myself where it is going to end. Let's find that lost city, this lost Berlin that was famous in all the world. Let's find that exciting Berlin of the roaring twenties! ~ ~At the end of World War I in 1918, the Weimar Republic was proclaimed in Berlin. In 1920, the Greater Berlin Act incorporated dozens of suburban cities, villages, and estates around Berlin into an expanded city. This new area encompassed Spandau and Charlottenberg in the west, as well as several other areas that are now major municipalities. After this expansion, Berlin had a population of around four million. It became the biggest continental city and beside London and New York the third biggest city of the world.During the Weimar era, Berlin became internationally renowned as a center of cultural transformation, at the heart of the Roaring Twenties. ~ ~ Berlin was growing very fast but it's streets were hit by the tales of history. The Weimar Republic couldn't count with democratic traditions and never became a institution. It was hit by many crisis and not often there were street fights between the different political forces in the country. Unemployment and a economical depression, caused by the lost war let the people feel material poorness. ~ ~ But people were for the first time free! The hard society restictions during the monarchy were gone and so Berlin became a spot for artists, scientists and a worldfamous nightlife! ~ ~ This is, where i want you to take! Come with me and know the Berlin of the roaring twenties! ~
