2 pointsPart 3, Scenario 2. - In this video, we talk about how the water system works, from the pumping of the precious liquid to its distribution to your thirsty Sims. This system uses almost all the tools that our simulation engine, GlassBox, has to offer: units, maps, agents, paths and resources. 2 pointsFor them not to even consider a change from online only is like a truck full of smiling fools headed for a solid brick wall. And don't nobody say "they said you can play solo". That's bull. ANY dependency for the city to update from an external influence is not a solo game. I think we can safely say that many many fans do not want this. If some kind of compromise is not reached they are more foolish than Monte Cristo was. I would then give up on the gaming industry all together and dust off my windows 98 disc and play those real PC games that i have with no DRM and work perfectly.
-
2 pointsI have never installed Origin to begin with. I honestly have never even heard of Origin until SC2013 was announced. Filing a lawsuit would be pointless because of the EULA. I still consider it malicious software because it does the exact same thing that many pieces of known malicious software does. Only difference is that it has a EULA to hide behind.

2 pointsI'm against automatic pipes actually. If everyone has water then why have water in the game at all? By not supplying an area with water, in SC4 you limited it's development to Med wealth and low density. Without that control why even simulate it? And by what I've read, the new Simcity will only have three different types of zones, R C and I, no zoning for density. This makes control over water supply even more important. If something makes putting down pipes difficult, redesign the tool, don't eliminate it.

2 pointsWell I hope I get the option to lay every pipe. My playing style consists of me taking my time with building infrastructure (laying pipes, power lines, and road networks) before I hit that play button. I could spend weeks in God mode alone. By the time my city is developed and populated I have a great feeling of accomplishment knowing that I did a lot of work to get it where it is. I do not see laying pipes as a waste of time. A true creator is patient. In fact it is patience that I had to grasp in order to learn how to get my budget in the black without cheats. In the end it's very rewarding. If SimCity was a car, I would drive stick. In my opinion, too much automatic things happening would rob me of some creative opportunities. But don't get me wrong, I love zoning and watching the city grow. I'm a gardener. Also micro management allows me to get to know all my neighborhoods on an intimate level. I look back on some of my screenshots and have fond memories of every section that I nurtured and watched grow; even the areas that gave me a headache.

1 pointThere are a lot of Civilization players on this site, and I thought I'd create a poll asking for your favorite Civ from the series. (This also includes expansions, although I didn't include them in the poll. I might add them later on.) I have played every Civ game besides Civ I, but my personal favorite is Civilization III. However, with the knew Gods and Kings expansion for Civ V, this might change. What are your thoughts?

1 pointhttp://www.vg247.com...tion-to-origin/ So basically this means no purchase for me. Such a shame, the game I've been waiting for years gets announced and it's seems awesome, and yet they manage to screw it up with stuff like this. I could live with the always online requirement (even though it's idiotic and drives people to piracy), but no mods means no purchase. edit: after hearing from you and other EA/Maxis sources, it seems like mod support is on it's way. There's still the issue of the always online requirement. While multiplayer sounds exiting (I for one would love to build regions together with friends), it shouldn't be forced on people, and I'm also a bit concerned about the global economy thing they are implementing into the game. There should always exist the option of playing completely offline, having your own fun without anyone else interfering in your little sphere of city simulation. And frankly, that's what they should be focusing on the most, traditional SimCity gameplay, just updated to be as good as possible in 2013 and the years to come.

1 pointRecently, I noticed that it has been quite some time since I last posted an entry to my CJ. So, here are a few pics of a typical Illyrian coastal town: Rab. I hope to add more entries soon. First stop is the central square dominated by the town hall from the XVIIth century. Rab is a populair tourist destination in the Empire. Tourist started to come here at the end of the XIXth. In the period many splendid hotels were built in Rab, as well as the (rather small) railway station. The town centre was first founded on a rocky peninsula in 1165 and still contains many old houses and churches. On the site of the former harbour a marina was constructed in the 1970s. Two mosaics of the town. And finally the town overview. On top the railway viaduct, constructed in 1878.

1 pointNo you is not wrong! To simplify EA is the boss and the staff would not promise anything that the employer does not authorize you agree? So it's pretty simple .... Read more on the web about the attitudes of the boss and believe less in the rest. Why not do this before, is that many complain later... note: friend Mr_Maison To say that opnion of a person is ignorant, is presumed to know that she has no knowledge about the subject on which opined! I can assure you this is not the case ... then just do not stretch for that matter, I think in the future you should avoid these adjectives.

1 pointOh, HomerSPC ... Thank You for Your answer and don't worry ... I can see Your video with real excellent speed and quality now !!! I think someone have some problems with Internet speed sometimes Pleasure for me ...
-
1 pointYeah its fine for me. Uhm, try testing your speed at speedtest.net. If its less than 0.10Mbps down, theres a problem there. Best would be over 1.00Mbps down.

1 pointWithout the helicopter blades, this would be like that man in California who literally tied up 40 helium weather balloons to has lawn chair and took a flight back in the 80s. He expected to raise about 30 feet but instead drifted to 10,000 feet high, crossed into controlled airspace, and landed/tangled on a power line.

1 pointI think it depends on how tightly the game's core engine and features integrate with everything else. If you go too far in developement, changing one seemingly minor thing can take a hundred man hours to get straight. You can guess what the developers would do. That said, there is still a lot of time left. I think the biggest changes will come in user-end feature sets and graphics. The simulation engine is probably done by now. So, I don't think we're going to see a departure from multiplayer emphasis by now, but we could see single-player emphasis increase perhaps.
-
1 pointI find the poll lacking a proper answer for " I will not buy the game if subscriptions are required, nor will I pay for mods, regions or additions. Expansions I am fine with purchasing" Remember when developers shipped full games at launch then a few months down the road they shipped expansions. In between expansions you got patches to resolve bugs and tweek features as well as many content additions for free. Sure do miss that. It is almost like they are totally oblivious to the debacle CitiesXL caused with the PO service and how the majority did not want to pay subscriptions for access to content that should have honestly been included in the base game. I was very excited initially at the news of SC5 finally being developed and by a proper studio. As we progress though I am finding that I will likely not purchase SC5 if it continues to be nothing more than a quick money grab meant to extort a loyal fan base. It is really sad, they have the perfect chance to embrace what the community has been waiting for and show that PC gamers will throw piles of money at their feet if they deliver what the community wants. Instead they seem to think they know what is best for us and are going to try and cram it down our throats with the attitude of "you want a new sim city, well here it is, now play it and shut up. No it doesn't have a true offline single player mode, even though you asked for it. Just use origin, its a great service. If we just force enough people to use it we can make it cool like steam." I will not pay for a subscription, mods, special content, or anything additional short of a true expansion.

1 pointStarting Wilhelmstadt Here's a pic of the Wilhelmstadt area at start. My plan is to build some light industry towns on the upper land area and some resort towns on the lower. For the start I decided to build just one resort town adjacent to Spandau. I started by extending one of the avenues from Spandau. I saw it was going to run right against a pond so I routed it a little south to go around. Then I decided to put in a little neighborhood in the triangular area between the pond and the canal dividing the land areas, like so: Next I wanted to put in the elementary school so I would know where I could put residential developments (all Sims should have a primary school education; I'm sure it's in the the United Sim Nations Declarations of Sim Rights). But, I found the little neighborhood fit with an elementary school in the north areas, not the southern area I had planned to start with. Whoops. So I have to do the upper town first. I laid in a mostly-residential area at the western tip for the start. Then I had to think about how to do the railroads. I wanted one going east to the one large area on the region map, where I'm thinking of making a railroad nexus. I also needed one going up to Tegel to link up to existing areas. I decided to make the one going east a straight shot while the one to Tegel would be diagonal and then go north. They would both connect to a station on the east side of my first town. I started the game up and things developed pretty well. Here's a pic of the industry town: While that was developing I laid out the resort town. I used avenues and large blocks to continue the adjacent section of Spandau. While I was working I got the Resort Hotel award and I put it next to a beach next to the river. I zoned 2 4x4 commercial areas and they developed into malls, which is a good fit. Otherwise I used a commercial-residential mix. Later I plan to put more beaches along the southern shore. Here's a pic of the resort town: And here's the region pic.

1 pointWell, this was fun. First update, and I already have to tell everyone that there won't be any more updates for a while. Yesterday there was a power outage, and the initial surge must have messed up the power supply (hopefully). I don't actually know if this is true because I was at school, but this is what I'm hoping. Anyways, I'm on my phone. Thank god Simtropolis has a good mobile site. But, because I needed to update you guys, here's Episode 3:

1 pointYour city is really diverse, highrises, green neighbourhoods and landmarks all have their places! Great to see that
-
1 pointUm... You are the first and only person I have seen in here hold that opinion. I know of a few people from Europe who would disagree. The Maxis cloverleaf is way too tight - even by standards in Germany. Maarten talked about this in an RHW seminar (link > http://www.majhost.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3334309 ). He superimposed the size of the Maxis cloverleaf over one in Germany on this slide > http://www.majhost.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3334265 . I like to compare the Maxis highways to Barbie dolls - way out of proportion. If you were to enlarge a Barbie doll to be "life sized", her legs would be 6 feet tall.

1 pointGood news! We have now perfected a new variety of Oil of Onimay! This new variety is 15% more potent than original Oil of Onimay. Our facility in Buggintyne (shown above in its glorious beauty) has already started production. Look for this new and improved ingredient in your "food" or beverages... coming soon! ALL HAIL VICTORY! DEATH TO ALL! ALL HAIL QUEENSFERRY! DEATH TO ALL! ALL HAIL BUGGULA! DEATH TO ALL!

1 pointwe've all fallen in love with the sleek Scandinavian furniture that Ikea has brought us for many years, but what if you were to multiply that style by 27 acres and dozens of multistory buildings? Ikea is building a 27 acre neighborhood on the outskirts of London, England which raises eyebrows. Read about it HERE
-
1 point1. Are you able to build Roads and other transportation on top of each other, like a rail on another rail on a road? 2. Will Disasters occur naturally? 3. Will SimCity have a view layer for building roads underground? 4. Can you access the neighboring city by directly moving the camera on to Its area?
-
1 pointAwesome. Thank you. Great to hear it. I will try to update at least once a week (I'm quite busy and it's hard to record every day). Omnibus you say? I never would have figured it to be Omnibus material. I never would have thought something like this could be thought of as a tuorial. But thank you for the comment and the good wishes. Hope this turns out pretty well.

1 pointI think it will be nice to be able to play multiplayer games with my friends, I really look forward to it. Can't see why it would be a problem? Or maybe many in the US still uses dial up modems, if so then it would be a pain in the ass, and I'm happy I live in sweden instead wouldn't survive if I couldn't have a really high speed broadband.

1 pointEdit: Sorry, I recreated the situation and was unable to reproduce the results I got last time. Sorry! There's another thread around that has various other solutions. Sorry to revive a month-old thread but I think the 2x2 landfill problem is not just a decomposition issue - it's definitely a bug. I had the exact same thing happen to me, and I remember waiting years and years and nothing happened. I eventually got it to go away, but it was so long ago that I can't recall exactly what I did. But if my memory is correct, I dragged a large empty landfill over the offending 2x2 block (like a 6x8 size) and then decommissioned the entire thing (the 2x2 block magically disappeared as if it were empty as well). If you're still having this issue and the method I just mentioned doesn't work, I can try recreating the situation with one of my current landfills and figuring out what workaround I found.
