Hello everybody!

Just got back into playing SC4 after a long break, and also got Cities.

Looking for a few mods, nothing too heavy to start with.

I have Cities on Epic Games, so have manually install mods/assets etc, any idea on why 1 (Font Selector) just comes up with ' - ' in the content manager?

I will go through the mod installation threads, and post in the relevant section if I have any more trouble. Other than that I am having a great time redescovering SC4.

Sounds great about being interested in the older SimCity games too, and SC3K especially has seen a revival of interest here in recent months. Hello!  

I just recently started playing again. I've had SimCity 4 on the old school CD back in the early 2000's, but unfortunately I lost the game.

So I started tracking the game on Steam and it got on sale last week and started playing! Never been much of a City builder myself, but I hope to revisit my childhood memories (especially my eternal fights with the Financial Advisor)!

Actually, now that you are offering your help, are you perhaps familiar with the 4GB patch for the NAM Simulator mod? 
I just posted a forum post that I am struggling to open my game, ever since I downloaded the mod. See the forum post here:

*E* Since NAM 36 the 4GB Patch insall goes from a Ghost Hand. Just say "Yes" to every Wiondow, after you set the Möglichkeiten.

Unfortunately, this does not appear to have any effect on the issue I am currently dealing with.  

Any other ideas?

EDIT: I am starting to notice that my ask for help caused a flood of messages in the introduction forum here, and I don't think that is what this forum is meant for. To prevent any other messages, is there a possibility to have a conversation in Discord maybe?

Your thread about the trouble in the NAM forum will be where the other experts will reply. If you have any new info to add there, that could help them understand the difficulty. (Like mention you've used the batch file and it reported the SimCity 4.exe was patched.)

That happens sometimes and a wee bit of digressing from the main point of this Intro Topic is nothing to worry about.

For getting on Discord, here's some info that should help you get that going:

Yeah, no worries at all and it's a good idea to post inside new and even existing older topics to ask questions.

One thing we've abolished is the mindset there used to be about topic bumping, since nowadays as staff we actively encourage replying to any topic on the relevant subject. There can oftentimes be fascinating follow-up discussions too as previous info ends up coming back to the surface again.

I remember that @Terring was working (before the pandemic!) in a work-from-home mod, that basically added job posts to residential lots. IIRC, most of the sims just look for the nearest available job on the respective wealth level, and so a majority of them end working from home.

No, I was not working on a mod about working from home. Back in 2018 I made a topic at which I was experimenting on the homejobs provided by RCImulti made by @niloluiz (which, among other things, can simulate teleworking), and exploring the social and technological implications and possibilities of it in SimCity.

Walks are the only thing that was never forbidden here, even in strictest lockdown.

Oh, RCI multi would be great for shops on the ground floor of apartment buildings! Also much less congestion if the sims' needs are covered in their own block.

And small workshops with a store front. A home art studio / garage workshop (clean industry $$$). So many uses for mixed zoning.
