Hi, guys:How can i make the prop be placed in the middle accurate when i use Lot Editor? I found if revolve the lot of direction, the prop do not always in the center position. Pls help me, thank u!

LotEditor is pretty much an eyeball tool, as there is no centering feature for it. Best advice I can give- make a 1 tile test lot, place your prop where you think it looks best, save, then look at it in game. If it's not right, go back in to LE and move it where you need it. Most of the time, it's pretty easy to line things up. The FX props are usually the tricky ones, as the "diamond" is offset.

@Nero55  Hi, here is a screenshot of @rsc204's tutorial (here) which explains how to center a prop in the lot editor.
I hope this helps.

Hi.  Does anyone still use SC4 Terraformer?  I've heard to that to get it to work on Windows 10 or 11 you need to do some crazy craziness with the code and whatnot.  Is there an updated version out there somewhere?

There won't be an updated version, because the source code is lost :(

You may want to check out this thread for help. There are some additional files you need to download and install somewhere. I don't know the exact procedure off the top of my hat, but downloading some files and installing them helped me.

Um, replace the values....with what

this is what should be in the SC4Tool/System/Settings.dat   file around line 14

 <data>
    <name>SC4Path</name>
    <value>C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe</value>    <<======  This is where you have the program installed
  </data>
  <data>
    <name>SC4LocalPath</name>
    <value>C:\Users\Ron\Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins</value>   <<======== This is where your Documents\Plugins is (replace username)
  </data>

If these entries are not in the file then you can set them by selection from the program itself, you just wont be able to read them on the black backgrounds. You can also just copy these straight into the file at line 14 if they're not there.

I am looking for seasonal or semi-seasonal, deciduous, prop family-randomized forest lots that could fit Austrian and Czech scenarios / regions.

Any sets that you could guys recommend?

Of course I can do it by myself but it's a really long process. I'm just wondering if there perhaps are some "of-the-shelf" solutions.

No luck. This program must have something to do with ILives, which I seem to always have a problem with. Everything in that .dat is in German, which isn't helping. Is there another program(besides ILIves) that can transit enable? If not, how much do you charge if I send you that .dat and you do it for me? *:D We should have a Want Ads thread.

It Works!  I had given up hope on getting the program to run months ago but now it WORKS!!

Is there a way to remove all props of a given kind in the Lot Editor?

Working on Grfe's forest lots and I just hate how these rocks look like... :dead: It takes forever to remove them by hand...

I am not sure if LE can do this for you. But I think reader could be helpful. If you identify the prop you want to get rid of in the lot exemplar file, the same prop should always the same end value.

(here I added the same prop 10 times for testing, might be worth a try)

I use this-

to make forest lots. Size it any way you want it. I usually make 4x4 and 6x6. Put a base on it, grass, sand, dirt etc. Get the trees you want to use, and plop them all over the lot. Make sure you use the prop trees, not flora. Girafe's trees usually come in Spring(Evergreen), Fall and Winter versions at various height growths. It takes about a half hour to make about 2 or 3 lots. Very easy. I have about 6 sets so far.

Oh, I forgot, remember to re-index lot config after deleting those entries. (I am sure you are aware of it, just right-click anywhere in the field and select the option)

Is there a way to make underwater lighting? I've tried a few tests and no go.

Could you set water transparency to full on your terrain mod... and then on certain plopables (like those Poseidon paint plops that can be placed underwater) you could somehow add light effect? I'm just brainstorming.

I'm not sure I follow. There's no problem getting a lighted lot in the water, it's getting the lights to come on. I have several lighted underwater lots, so I know it can be done. They are self-powered, but I should be able to power them without that.

How can I identify the .dat file a prop is in?

I remember that in iLives there is a handy, little window listing dependencies a lot/building has but I don't remember how to get there.

@TheMurderousCricket, a couple of things to keep in mind: not all .SC4Lot files include LD sub-files; and depending on the age of the download, it may list dependencies that no longer exist.

Thanks @twalsh102. No problems - I just need it as an info for my own lots which use dependencies that I already have.

Hi there. I wondered if there was any way to prevent RCIs from landscaping (ground work / leveling) when they build / grow. Every time I zone on slightly sloped land, I end up with ugly fills / retaining walls. I use "Ctrl" while zoning, but on construction it (sometimes) still landscapes.

You'd have to go in with the appropriate editing program(I would use LotEditor) and edit each and every RCI, to change the lot elevation to 90. Much easier to just avoid building on slopes.

Do you throw your dirty clothes around instead of putting them in the hamper? See, this is how you get clouds!!! I'm assuming you mean clouds. Upper right corner in settings- turn clouds off. If it's not clouds, but a slice of toast, I can't help you.

Darn... I thought there would a mod for this (I remember seeing one?). The thing is, I feel like it has much less tolerance than it used to have, as if a mod I have installed had lowered it. I remember having incredibly sloped lots which I can't anymore. I'm not talking about crazy slopes, only ~3m over 2 tiles... This makes all my river sides hard to build and kept clean (as it always tends to redevelop with landscaping).

Yes, this happens if you leave the game running but shift focus to another program/app running at the same time. And yes, turning clouds 'off' will alleviate it, or you can just wait until it passes after returning to the game.
