The old EA site had a large domed sports arena. Right now, I can't get their website to work. Tips? Is it on the STEX? (haven't yet found it).

How do I build a trail or sidewalk wthin a park tile, ensure residential houses face the park, and most importantly ensure pedestrian traffic along these sidewalks?quote>

There is a "Ped Mall" tile, many actually, in the roads section. Use those.

There are different styles, bridges, and there are many plopables that work with it.

Thanks! The Ped Mall is a great start. The mountain path works the way I want. In fact, if I plop a mountain path on top of the park sidewalk, it retains all the props. Development appears to show a trail with the park sidewalk props acts as if there is a park; proximity to park. I have already run a city with this, and have significant pedestrian trafic.

Any tips to create a custom Ped Mall tile? I would like to develop one that functions as a ped mall, but a single tile with concrete walkway and props such as lamp post and benches.

I would also like to develop a set of back lane tiles. The plop cost and monthly maintenance cost would be less than a street, it wouldn't have a sidewalk, and traffic volume supported would be less. To model Wildwood Park in Winnipeg, there would also have to be a one-way back lane.

Thanks in advance.

You could always take the original, copy and paste it, edit it and there you go. I think all they are is a road with a tile texture that only alows ped traffic. Pretty easy to make that. You just need to know how to script!

Would live to. I would appreciate some help doing that. I have looked at the Lot Editor, it allows creating lots but does not support traffic. I don't see how to create a ped mall, and don't see any of the existing ped malls there. I also don't see any scripting in the Lot Editor. The BAT is designed to create buildings and 3D props, it doesn't appear to have any ability to script lots.

I have Simcity 4 Delux Edition, NAM, SAM, RTMT v3.5, RTMT v3.6, Park Sidewalk. I have also installed the Lot Editor directly from the EA website. I downloaded BAT but not installed it yet.

Ps. The parking lots in SAM look great, but don't appear to function. I was hoping to find something to act as a parking structure near a subway station for park-and-ride, but with smaller capacity. I'm currently using 4% of the full-size parking structure in one of my cities. Just a note to prove I have looked at the features of SAM.

Anyone know where I can find a rail station that is plopped on a curve?

The only one I could think of for regular rail is the Brenntrail NAM Curve Station. It's a 45 degree station which, obviously, requires the NAM. Hope this helps.

Exactly, meaning if you want an upload, i'll go get it. You are asking questions on how to build a ped mall tile, witch is not what this fourm is intended for. You could ask the nam team on how to make a custom ped mall tile. Other than that, there isn't much left to say...

That's very flattering. I am a programmer with over 28 years experience, but am new to SC4. I played the orginal SimCity, sometimes called SimCity Classic, but never did play either SimCity 2000 or SimCity 3000. I am very new to Simtropolis. I did create an account on SC4Devotion so I could download NAM and SAM, a website I only learned about through Simtropolis. I could ask the NAM team directly there, but their newcomers guide first asks the requester to ensure there isn't anything already created on any SC4 website.

So, first I have to ask, does the custom ped mall that I want tile already exist somewhere? Functioning as a ped mall with lamp posts, concrete (grey) walkway and grass, park benches every so often, with straight, 90° curve, T and X (cross) intersections?

Second, is there a back lane tile anywhere?

Third comes from my first post. I would like residential lots around a 90° street curve. This one would model the block I grew up on: Virden Crescent in Transcona, a part of the city of Winnipeg, Canada. To keep it short, residential lots were pie shaped lots around the corner. This permitting full use of the land, short frontage along the street with wide back yards. In SimCity4 building like this with 1x2 residential lots leaves a 2x2 square of unusable land, no street access. Pie shaped lots would permit use of all the land. At first I thought a non-square lot would require modification of the fundamental game engine, but it could be handled by a 3x3 square tile that has a 1x1 street 90° corner in one corner of the tile. Then draw pie shaped residential lots in the rest, with multiple zones for buildings (one house per pie shaped lot).

1. there is a 1x1 ped mall tile, 5 differnent textures, bridge, and one with a lamp. you have to make you own routes.

2. I wouldn't know, but you can always copy, paste, and put a new texture.

3. Lots are 1x1, 2x1, 1x2, 1x3, 3x1 ect. cant change that, Pie shaped?

The fact remains, there are some things that cannot be cahanged, ex. lot sizes. You just have to be creative and figure things out as you go along. Sorry if I havent been much help, it truely is very confusing!19.gif

Hi! I'm returning to SimCity 4 after a long time away, and there's a mod I'm looking for.

Essentially, it was to make the Maxis lots slope-friendly. In other words, when I zone a slight hill full of RCI, I don't want to see a bunch of retaining walls around each house (who does that IRL??) but instead of artificially levelling the lot, the individual buildings' foundations compensate for the slope. In other words, basically what this Omnibus entry is talking about: https://www.simtropolis.com/omnibus/index.cfm/Main.SimCity_4.Working_With_Hills - this mod enabled me to zone without fear of retaining walls, and I didn't have to use the grass trick. Sorry I can't remember what it might have been called... any ideas?

Thanks!

I've never seen or heard of anything like that, using those grass 1x1's did the trick just fine! I'll let you know if I find anything.

Hey, people!!!

I was wondering if the Marina City Complex was on the STEX. I searched it, it came up, but when I clicked the link, I went through 15 pages without success.

Does anyone know where to get this building as I'm recreating Chicago.

Thanks!!!

Does anyone know what happened to that mod that allows you to plop MAXIS growable lots?

It used to be on the Modds section but its gone (the section). The STEX search isn't giving any signs of life.

Thanks!

Antonio: I believe that diagonal building is by calgrafax. If so it's available over at sc4devotion. If I were home on my fast connection I would confirm it for you, but you'll just have to go with my hunch (dial-up at the folks place sucks).

Hi everyone, an old member here (2003) looking for some old train mods.

Trolca's random last car / no caboose mod.

Big Red Fish's long train mod.

Thanks in advance for any help getting these back into the game.

Any modern versions of either would be fine also.

...almost forgot, anyone know where I can pick up the boxcar Trolca made for me all those years ago?, my avatar is a picture of it.

Man I wish I would have burned all this stuff on to a cd!8.gif

Hi everyone,

I just downloaded the SFBT Construction Site Set" created by deejay but got stuck when searching the dependencies:

CSX Bat Props by Vlakhaas: I found a "CSX BAT Props 2006, 2007 ...? Should I take the latest one?

Construction Props by SimGoober --> found nothing

BSC Vehicle Props --> found nothing

Foss Construction Tower Crane by Lord_Quillian2 --> got that already 4.gif

Vehicle_Props-V3.dat by gizmo28 --> found some "vehicle prop" files at gizmos homepage, but not a v3 --> suppose the v4-version should do?

So if anyone could direct me to these dependencies ...

Thank you!
