Lower the volume of traffic or increase the number of lanes to increase it's capacity. Sometimes that will necessitate altering larger parts of your road networks, for example adding a new interchange to make a difference.

Doesn't really change things. The basic problem is too many cars/other traffic needing to use it. So if you can't increase capacity of the lanes, you'll need alternate routes to increase it. That can also include competing public transport, such as Rail, Metro or Buses that covers the route. Although if the bulk of the traffic is related to shipping goods or other services, public transport won't help much.

There aren't really a lot of options if that is the case.

Step 1 try to make sure the industries are fed from "hubs", which makes cargo transportation more efficient. Set up a Freight/Container rail terminal on the outskirts of your industrial areas. Have another one that feeds into the city itself where your commercial shops are most dense. That way the bulk of the goods can be transported by rail. Of course the actual goods will still need to use road transport between the hub and the final destination/pickup points. So it's imperative that the road links between Industry and the hub are well optimised. Similar storey for the hub for goods into shops. Ideally these hubs should be placed well clear of major commuter routes to prevent mixing of commuter traffic and cargo. If you get that right, you'll find things run a lot smoother.

Another important tip, the road that goes to the freight terminal should be one-way only. Allowing for maximum efficiency for traffic entering/leaving the terminal.

Some more info is here and here (Steam forums). Or perhaps a tutorial video is more useful?

i had a city with 86k inhabitants, the traffic on the highway was extreme. but not in the city, only in the industrial zone and on the highway.

So look at the information I linked too and you should be able to fix it. Since you can't possibly have spent as long doing that as I took to post the info in the first place, that's your starting point. I can't help further, train to catch.

I have become more familiar in 3Ds Max and even gained enough expertise in it over the past few months that I think my skill level is approaching a point where I think I am good enough to start making mods for Cities: Skylines. I started practicing in 3DsMax to make brick rowhouses for the game Banished but since I am more interested in Cities: Skylines now and my buildings were practice so I can mod C:S, I decided to start a new project of making buildings just for Cities: Skylines.

I whipped this building up over the course of 4-7 hours today. It would have taken only 1 or 2 hours had I not made a ton of mistakes that required me to start from the beginning.

It will normally grow on a 4 tile wide x 3 tile deep lot with the ability to grow on a 4x4 lot with a backyard.
FYI, I plan on making a ColorMask for the outer 2 rowhouses so it could have more variety (bright red, pink, tan, and whitewashed).

Please give me feedback to help me improve the quality of my creations.

        Thank you!

        Hey guys, new Poll!
Please choose out of the following options for a 32m wide network which will have 4 tram tracks.
The idea is that this is still a station track prefab so it will only be able to be placed inside an asset (so similar to monorail station tracks). This is due to the fact it will be using a unique track configuration which I will make compatible with the CO vanilla groups (they will connect visually with any tram network using the same connect groups as snowfall tracks)
The trams will be able to stop on each set of track so you can have 4 separate parallel stops on the same road.

Please keep in mind the following:
        - DLC required for lanes,
        - platform widths (some of them are very skinny so maybe they're not as good)
        - overall usability as a medium road.
        - vehicle flow compatibility with vanilla/DLC roads

FYI red tram lanes are tram only (not bus as well)

IF you think of a better layout still vote on the above, but also POST a streetmix pic illustrating exactly how it can work within 32m and with the correct widths for lanes/platforms

Hello everyone. This will be my custom content showcase and workshop thread. In all the years I been a member here, I never uploaded any content but enjoying great work by other members. I take this opportunity to say Thank You to all content makers for making our city building experience so enjoyable. I feel that making content is overdue for me and I want to give back to the community. I have some buildings and trees that I will be showing in upcoming updates to this thread. I will also be asking for advice and help.
