I have been doing asset creation for over half a year now for C:S and I literally never heard of this site until like 2 -3 weeks ago. While I have been quite active on Reddit I never found a site like this, so I hope I'm posting this in the right place. My first assets for C:S were quite frankly not that good and I still think they are sub par of what some people are creating around here I'm looking at you BB. So I'm hoping to get some feedback on my work and just in general showing what I do. So on to the meat of the post now, yesterday I released my latest asset, The Erasmus Bridge from Rotterdam LINK, ill put in a quick picture or 2, more pictures on the workshop of course. Hating the new cropping the picture thing steam does nowadays  I can't show my beautiful 21:9 screen powers now :3. But really if you are willing to give some feat back Id appreciate it a lot!

Welcome to the club! Love your assets :D

Also, are you Dutch? Or do you just like the Erasmus Bridge a lot :P

Thanks! and yes I'm also Dutch as everybody seems to be around these places, I also do like the Erasmus Bridge a lot. Next to the bridge and The Rotterdam which I also made I plan to create some more High rise from Rotterdam this is not what I'm working on for the moment so you ask:''Jeren what are you working on then.''  For the moment I'm working on some buildings I designed on my own, the first picture down below. I plan for it to be an RICO hotel, the roof at the moment reaches a height of 85m and is gonna be a brick clad building. I also plan for it to have an green rusted copper look roof. I really don't how this is gonna turn out so its subject to change. Oh did I tell ya its a corner-building  on a 60 deg angle cause C:S needs more corner buildings. Well that is the end of it for now Ill keep yall updated on the looks of this building JEREN OUT!

    Hey Jerenable!

Love your stuff, think I've got most of your bridges and your new embankment props are great.

Got a question about them. I'm in the process of trying to create an elevated rail station, I'd like it to be complemented by those props.

Based on a tile being 8m x 8m what height are your props? They fit under a 12u height rail very nicely indeed.

I've been trying to find an answer online but haven't been able to work out the height scale in CS yet.

C:S network height is measured by the top plane of the network, for example rail. So if your network is at 12m and the the prop is also at 12m you will texture clipping (seen as flickering in game) and this doesn't look very nice. So for an 12m high object I set the height of the prop at 11.9m so the texture doesn't clip. I hope this answered your question.

Oh and C:S works in meters so a tile is 1u by 1u wich is 8x8m like you said and height is in plain meters, this means that the rail is elevated at 12m.

Another update!! yes, when I get into a project I really get into it, I mean REALLY. So I started texturing the tower and it starting to look amayzeeeng. I almost finished texturing the roof and I still trying out some different styles If you have like a nice picture of a copper roof please leave it here I need more reference material to choose from, I really only know the old Gothic and art deco skyscrapers in NY have those. I also still have to make a lod, SO HAPPY TO DO THAT....     NOT   Well I guess thats it for today ill update this again if I do something interesting

What plot is it going to be on? Also I would pick some other material than brick, typically you see copper roofs with terracotta or plaster or red brick.

Wait, I am confused so no brick but red brick, plaster or terracotta? The brick texture I used seems to be red for me at least :???: Anyhows, after gotten your links I looked around on maps for waaaay to long and found some churches which have this exact look (those in Zurich for example), I think thats quite funny, thanks for the links btw. I got some great Ideas for the roof now as I'm typing this I'm making the texture for the walls, not at the same time as typing but you get what I mean. The walls are gonna be pretty generic maybe Ill ad some green copper accents, I think that will spice it up a bit. For the placement style I was thinking on doing the the same as Feindbild with his Chicago corner buildings, the 1ux1u freeplaceable thing. A freeplaceable building will make it a lot easier to use as the road/zoning is not a variable you will have to battle.

Only half, I only found out about the Zurichtoren after I did the initial 3d, I did use it as inspiration for the roof and the entrance. Yeh I did really make a building that resembles it a lot. Also I finished texturing the walls and the roof.

I finished the building made all the maps and the lod. Tri count main: 1728 and lod: 247, I think those number are pretty reasonable. The building will be on the workshop tonight, tell me what you think. Ill get more pictures soon and add them to this post.

I had a few spare hours and decided to spend them on the creation of an better looking cooling tower as the other is not very good, especially the lod or the lack there off. so here it is in all its cooling glory. tri main is 1724 and the lod is 277 all on a 1024^2 texture map. As you can see in the last picture there is no deformation in the lod.

Update time: so I finished texturing a refinery part, I think it looks pretty good final tris count is 5851. I really want to see it with props placed on it, some stairs here and there valves, that will look amazing. I also started making a catenary which is based on an Australian one. well im gonna nap now maybe place a picture tomorrow of the refinery part with props on it.

I released the the first of some refinery parts i want to make Link. Its good but I'm not 100% happy with it not even 90%, the props by @squirrelarmyuk really do look good :thumb:. I made no progress on the catenary I didn't really felt like doing it not much inspiration. So I started my next project, something it seems only a few people seem to make on the workshop, BRIDGES! Yes its a bridge, to be specific a bridge inspired (its really more of a remake) by the Zolotoy Bridge in Vladivostok. BP asked me to make something like this bridge quite a while ago not weeks but months, oops. I really got into the flow and did the full 3d in one go still have to do the texturing and a tiny tad of optimizing on the lod as its to big for my taste atm. Well thats it for today o// ill ad some photos of the bridge.

That bridge looks awesome! Plus I cannot wait for the rest of the refinery parts,  when my city is more mature I normally separate the extraction and refining parts of my mining and oil.  Using building themes I set up appropriate themes, this way I can maximize the amount of oil I can get from a given deposit, plus I can put all my refining in one place to be exported or used by industry.  I REALLY wish the game had pipelines!  It would be awesome to just plop a massive refinery.

I finished the bridge and it looks great in the asset editor but once the lod is loaded in game the whole texture artifacts. I tried many things, importing as different templated with and without textures I even recreated the lod in blender and it still artifacts. the bridge is also the only asset to be affected. Has anyone had this or a similar problem or knows the solution to this?

Maybe some UV mapping is outside the texture area? Like an accidentally misplaced vertex or something. Hard to see in the small pic but looks like it's splattered with other textures?

There is no UV mapping outside the texture area, also its only the lod so its hard getting a good picture as I have to zoom out to toggle it. All the maps are mixed light, diffuse, spec etc. I can put the lod & texture online if you want to take a look at them.

Did you import your own lod textures? Are they all the same resolution?

If so did you also import lod_s and lod_a? Asset editor guide says those must be imported if you use your own lod textures.

All textures are same resolution, 256^2. you dont need all textures to be present for a correct import I can speak from experience for example my previous bridge didn't have a light nor a specular map present at the moment of import and still looked correct. Just tried importing with all the maps added light etc. and the issue is still present.

Oh boi, it gets even weirder, there is a point where the lod is loaded but not artifacting ingame so I'm out of ideas now.

order of the pictures main - lod - lod+artifacts. every picture taken 1 mousescrolwheelclick from each other.

You have to supply all LOD texture maps (a c i d n). Also, all the LOD textures must have the same size, a power of 2 (128, 256, 512...).
