I went and looked at some of your SC4 submissions. I'm looking forward to seeing what you bring to CS.

Here's hoping for some CS grungy industry!

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

Whoohooo - I left SC4 quite a while ago so I missed your stuff over there. Looks like this is exactly in my range of prey! I love the dark look of your BATs.

Thanks Feinbold and Simulanten for the kind words!

Please do! I downloaded it yesterday and I love it so far. However, I'd really like some grungy highway textures. Mods exist that make grungy road textures easy to do (I just modded mods for mine) but grungy highway textures seem to be few and far between.

That's what I worked on for SC4. I'd love to see something like that for CSL!

If you create one as a prop, we could replace the default highway sign prop.

They are already props. So, let's get to it then! :)

I can't wait for the grungy road textures and highway signs since I saw your latest screenshots in "Show us your interchanges"! My cims will hate it, but I'll turn their neat pavements into cracked and overgrown tripping hazards as soon as I can :kitty:

YES! Lets DIRTY this game up some more :kitty:

Looking forward to your grime. My trains will soon have cities where they will be right at home. I'm gonna make some weeds where we can throw tires, old mattresses and garbage for those upcoming vacant lots :D

Every time a great BATer from SC4 makes things for CSL, I know the game is getting better.

Well this is apt, isn't it @Kaschperl and @Mr_Maison? I'm just getting ready to release my gantry signs. :D With a few changes here and there, they should be ready today barring some unforeseen issues with the Steam workshop (my first time using it).

Likewise, Maison, any time I hear of grunge I get immediately excited. Sim City or otherwise! I think we're both onto something here!

Sorry for the double post, but I think it's warranted, given that I've just uploaded my first batch of roadsigns!

Yep. That's definitely warranted, that is!

    Awesome!

I've uploaded the following .psd files for you all to create your own guide signs:

    Generic guide sign

Generic guide sign - "Exit Only"

I will only accept signs that can be used in a reasonably wide variety of situations. Something that says "Exit 638 - Bipin's Bouncy Castle Emporium" or anything along those lines, will probably not be used. ;) Give it a try and make some signs though. Do whatever you want as long as you keep the texture within the predefined areas and keep the same layer structure with no compression (must be sent to me as a .psd).

I haven't seen them in-game yet (I only saw your uploads yesterday after I shut down the game), but going by the screenshots each and every one of your signs is a little gem! Can't wait to plop some of these bad boys in my city!

btw: would it be a lot of trouble to convert the .psd files as layered .png files? My image editing software of choice is Fireworks (I don't even have Photoshop), which, afaik., is shooting blanks when feeding it Photoshop files.

Checked out your signs in game. It may be my graphic settings but the sign text is a bit buggy at some angles. Sometimes the white text becomes black, sometimes it looks really messy.

But for most other angles it looks fab! Well done!

Now I think the dream, or the goal, for road signs in this game would be as follows:

    - At least two more versions - one LHD and one that covers entire 16m wide road with supports either side

    - Some guide or way to allow everyone to create their own custom signs using a template model and texture (that way everyone can have their own  "Exit 638 - Bipin's Bouncy Castle Emporium" :D

    - A way to remove the auto generated crappy low res and meaningless road signs in the game.

As long as I can separate the text layers from the background once they're sent to me, do what you need to do. :) Thanks for the kind words!

The signs do appear like that at certain angles. I am not sure why this occurs, as I played with all sort of things on the maps, yet it still happens at some angles. If it really becomes an issue I can fix it, but I don't think that is warranted right now. If I have some free time soon, I may though. ;)

Thank you for the kind words though! I'm talking to someone right now about creating signs that can be modified in-game according to the users liking. Not a lot of development, but what's there is promising. In the meantime, my .psd textures are yours to play with!

Woohoo, I just checked, and Fireworks can open your .psd's just fine (the layers remain intact) and saving edited templates as .psd's should also be no problem \o/

Now all I need is the correct font (I don't have it installed, so Fireworks simply reverts them to Arial as soon as I start editing the text) - do you know the name of it, or - if it is free to use - share the font you used with us?

http://ufonts.com/fonts/clearviewhwy-5-b.html I believe this is the correct font for the signs he made.
