Amazing update! I would love it if we could have it without the flags.. I like Amsterdam, but it would be nice to have an "international" option so to speak..

EDIT: Also, I would check the dome, it looks a little too squashed down.. the building looks right, but the dome would need to be stretched a little.

Absolutely fabulous. :thumb: I want this. You have quickly become s very skilful Batter.

by the way. I agree with cmpd123789 that the dome is more pointy in the picture. And the windows on the right are more narrow in the real building. But I don't think that is highly important. I don't need an exact copy of real life building, but a high quality Bat that conveys the feel of the real thing.

I'm almost done with this building. The roof still needs some work. I also changed the colors, because why not. Ok.

What kind of flag do you have in mind?

Anyway, I changed the color back to white:

Also, does anyone know thow to compare the size with other SimCity buildings, without rendering the whole thing?

When you do the preview you can save it as an image clicking in the disk icon in the preview window. You save it as .png with transparency. In any photo editor you mix this image you saved with an in game picture in the same zoom of your preview. I think this is the best way to do it.

I was actually thinking about no flag at all. The thing is, if we have to choose a flag, everybody would have different preferences, so, with that said, I would release a version with the current Amsterdam flag, and then no flag at all, so it fits any point in the globe.. of course, as long as you feel like it wont bother or generate extra load in your work =)

Oh my goodness, gorgeous!! Really looking forward to plopping this in game.

I agree about the flag though, either no flag or maybe one with just the name of the hotel? Makes it easier to place in a city and avoids me needing to photoshop over it with my own flag :D

This thing about the flag can be solved by rendering the flag separately and use it as a prop. Make a version with flag and one without it would be something quick to do.

Flag or otherwise, it's great to see how far you've come in such a short time. This would look at home as a seafront hotel in England every bit as much as it will next to a Dutch canal. Fantastic stuff :thumb:

I am sorry, but I am not fond of the roof as it is now. I would have prefer how it is on the real building. Yes, it is flat, but there is a lightwell, which is common in old buildings. This would break the roof so it would not be one big flat surface. Now the roof junk stands out too much, and in my opinion steal attention away from superb façade.

But I prefer it with a pink roof...ok just kidding. You did an amazing model with a lot of details, I'm going to have it in all my cities certainly :P

It may not fit with the style I'm going with, but I've gotta say that's a very nice BAT!

In my option that makes a huge difference. :thumb: Before the roof could have been from any modern anonymous midrise office building. Now it shows some character. :)

I have to say that I don't like the box building on top of the roof. No, I am not suggesting you to remove. No, no. :) That it just such stupid thing that a modern building renovator could do. Especially during 60's or 70's and if they thought that would be in a place that nobody could see it. It is really ugly, almost an eyesore, but then again, it something that can be seen even in classic buildings. That is real life. May be they wanted to add  a lift or  air condition system.

Most likely it's there to service the lifts. I agree they're awful but somewhat necessary if adding lifts to a building never designed to accomodate them.

I really like the revised version with the light well. Looks fantastic!

Yes, the light is realistic, but it might cause problems. This is a W2W building, have the wall lit up by lights might look good for the building itself but the light would end abruptly without having an effect to the W2W building next to his one, which would turn this from realistic into a pity.

Beautiful! It is such a stunning model. There are some strange reflections on your roof junk - I would turn down the reflectivity on that material (only for the night render) the day render is fine.
