Very nice!  I would cut down the number of window awnings though... in the original it looks like they appear on every other floor (and none on the corner windows).

Right now it seems too busy and distracts from the beauty of the building.

Your improvement is amazing from the first building you did to this one. I agree with SimCoug about the awnings. And I think you should at least make them smaller than it is or it will look odd.

Hey! New Dutch BATs! I like that.

The Witte Huis, you made it a bit too white in my opinion. Yeah, you did it on purpose. Well I am going to use it anyway. I've lived in Rotterdam long enough to have fallen in love with this city. Its buildings will find a place in my SC4 regions.

And the quality of your woirk is outstandig already.

Thanks for the feedback. I am stuck with the nightlighting though. Like, I don't know how to get dynamic night windows. As you can see in the picture they are just plain yellow. I hope somebody can chime in. Ok.

Are you using a self-illuminating image for the nightlights or are you using omnis?

For a building like this, I would definitely use a self-illuminating image - www.textures.com has a lot of night window images which will do the trick.

If in fact you are using self-illumination, just check that map# assigned to the material for the self-illumination map is unique.

If you have merged objects into a scene they sometimes end up with the same map# and that stops your scene lighting correctly. Renaming (or renumbering) the self-illumination map in the material editor will allow the scene to illuminate properly.

Is this decent? Thanks for your advice btw, it is really helpful.

    No, this is not decent.

    This is great! :golly:

I only think you'll have to dial down the glare a bit, but that's about it.

    Nice!

While glare amounts are a matter of taste, the glare that you have in your preview image won't translate into game as most of it will be cut off at the LOD edges, so it will actually end up looking quite subtle.

The nightlighting doesn't work on the closest zoom levels (zoom 4 & 5 I think?). Does anybody know why this might happen?

This is the DN version btw:

That happens to me sometimes. Usually I export the LODs again and do the rendering and the problem disappears. It is also good to create a new scene and merge only the building with its material properties.
The last time this happened to me at the Magnolia Building nothing went right and I had to reinstall all softwares again, but I think this is very rare to occur, I hope that is not the case.

BTW, what's wrong with you (in the good way)? You did a very good first BAT, an amazing second BAT, and this one is also stunning! I hope you solve the problem and upload it to the STEx soon :)

Maxis Chrysler Building is terribly underscaled. On the other hand many user made European buildings are slightly big. So this one might work very well. It would be best to seen with other user made Euro buildings.

Otherwise this is brilliant work. Not many active Dutch batters. In fact, you may be the only one active. :???: So good additions to Euro family. :thumb: Bedankt

By the way, what building this is? It is very specific but I am not familiar with it. From which city it is from? Or is this a fantasy buildin? ;)

It does appear a bit over-scaled at first glance... maybe set it next to some similar hotel buildings (preferably European ones... )
Scale aside, the details and textures are splendid.  :thumb:
The dark grey color may stand out too much when compared to the game palate... Lightening it up a bit may also bring out some of those details a bit more.

Just here to mention that either Chrysler Building is horribly underscaled or your horribly overscaled.

However, feel free to go on ignoring me :/

The speed at which you're generating new and high quality content is fantastic! I'm loving the possibility of loads of lovely European BATs!!

Do you have a list in your head of what you'd like to re-create?

I'd like to recreate these buildings at some point. I have to find the time and motivation though.

Those would be amazing. I'd have to completely redesign the Dutch founded old town in Passau :D

    Exciting!

I really like your work, and the buildings you have in mind are looking good.. Now, my only request would be.. Can you make the buildings without the signs? That way, they maintain the euro style, but they can fit in any type of euro.. So you would upload 2 versions, one with the sign, and then the second without it.. Would something like that be too much to ask? :???:  If it is, never mind, just throwing the idea to the table to open it up and not restrict it only to Dutch styled cities.

I really like yur new building but I do feel the colour pallete could use a little tweaking, its a bit too dark and cool. Simcity replicates and normal cloud free day, there the concrete should be a bit lighter. IMO
