Do buildings / lots grow into each other when they upgrade? That would be a cool mod.

Though this is probably pie in the sky for now, some kind of medium density residential zone would be useful, perhaps a mod that grows car parks over zoned land to match demand in much the same way as the original Sim City grew schools and hospitals.

I definitely want more building levels eventually, and I see no good reason why 8x8 or 8x4 growable lots should not be possible at the top level.

Edit: I used to love the low/medium/high wealth element of SC4 as well with specific push / pull factors and tax brackets. That was glorious.

OMG! Please can someone make a mod for the European street lights. They would look awesome with the EUropean buildings. They are found in Scandinavia and Central Europe - Germany, Switzerland (They are not in the UK or France AFAIK). In game, they would behave as power pylons -  but really they just be aesthetic...

I have seen christmas lights kinda looking like those in London, but they are pretty German/Scandinavian. They would sure look nice in the game, but I don't think it's possible to make them.

I'm just getting started with the asset manager, and I really enjoy making parks.  But I'm finding that the pavement and dirt path types just don't offer enough variety.  I want more textures and colors of brick, stone, wood, and other materials!

Hello everyone, it would be great if we could remove the trees reaction to pollution and clean water. Trees don't get red when close to industry, except in fall, neither do their foliage die from fresh water exposure.

But mainly this is preventing us from building nice waterfronts with walkways as the trees on it die...

There you go, here is my suggestion / request ! :)

No idea if possible, but I would love a mod that draws water pipes automatically when you place roads.  I spend an inordinate amount of time drawing water pipes under existing roads - would love to have that happen simultaneously!

    Thanks!

I would really love to see The Absolute Towers. I don't care if both towers are on 1 lot or both on a separate lot.

Hi everyone.  Would it be possible to create a mod that disables, or allows adjustment, of the color changes that happen when you open a build/placement window?  I find the default negative color overlay or effect difficult to see.  I'm talking about how the whole city turns an odd shade of white, like a photo negative when you need to build things.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.  Take care and be well.

Hello modders! I appreciate everything you do for our community and this is my request, please make the both highway sides connected to each other so you don't have to place one side of the highway, and then the other.

Yeah, I second this! It's really frustrating when you do a nice waterfront with trees and then after some time they just die! :( I undertand the "roots" thing, but I mean... they can be irrigated by public waterpipes, right?

I dont' know if this is doable, but that would be some great mod.

(And trees reacting to pollution as well! I mean: c'mon!!! Have you ever seen dying trees in an industrial area? Probably only in places where they actively and purposefully spill poisons on the ground, but even the most degraded industry area in the world I think it has green trees!)

A mod that makes it where you don't have to place lines at all. You just place a bus stop, train station, or subway entrance anywhere around your city and it still increases happiness but the buses, trains, and subways automatically go to each stop like in SimCity 2013.

Haven't seen a request for this yet:  4x2 residential buildings for the higher levels.

Yes, 4x2, not 2x4.  That is, 4 tiles on the street, only two tiles deep.  There's lots of nice L1, L2, and L3 buildings in loRes and hiRes, but then they stop upgrading because there's nothing at that size at the higher levels.  These buildings typically appear (a) on street corners for blocks 7 or 8 tiles wide, (b) on corners of gently curved roads where the last zone block is 5x4, getting split into a 4x2 corner and a 3x4 regular lot, and (c) on steep hillsides with shallow lots.

You can see them in your cities if you switch to the "levels" view and scan your L3-L5 res areas for the pale green oddballs.

    Thanks!

I'd like to request a mod that can draw the highway in opposite directions simultaneously. When I draw one myself, it's uneven at best because I can't draw them parallel. I like asymmetry, but well, mine look downright ugly. :)  Here, it can look professional. Or at the least, a mod that can draw the highway in the same direction on both sides, but can then be altered on one side in the opposite direction...

I've got one building to finish right now and two in the wip stages, but I will have a look at this.

With some of the buildings I have mentioned before now released, I'm having a thought of suggesting a new set of buildings (some old) that may be able to get to the game like the following:

1.) U.S. Bank Tower (Los Angeles, California)

    Los_Angeles_Library_Tower_(small)_crop.j

2.) Petronas Twin Towers (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) (WITH BASE --- mall or something what you call that thing and that 3rd tower)

NOTE: The workshop only included the twin towers ONLY.

    ----- No Picture Needed ------

3.) Taipei 101 (Taipei, Taiwan) (Same as Petronas Twin Towers ---- needs the base and plaza)

NOTE: The workshop only included the tower ONLY.

    ----- No Picture Needed ------

4.) Absolute Towers (Canada) (the one johan posted)

    ----- No Picture Needed ------

5.) Guangzhou Twin Towers (Guangzhou, China)

    190673747_fdd4277e57_o.jpg

6.) World Financial Center (1 to 4 with central building between 2 and 3) (Lower Manhattan, New York City)

    1337399872m_DISPLAY-440x330.jpg

    A better picture :)

    World_trade_center_new_york_city_from_hu

7.) World Trade Centers 2 (not sure why), 3, 4 and 7 (dunno where's 5 and 6 :P) (Lower Manhattan, New York City)

NOTE: It's okay for this to be modular due to the engine's capabilities. I just hope there's the Transportation Hub and Memorial Park. :)

    ----- No Picture Needed ------

    8.) PBCom Tower (Makati, Philippines)

    pbcom3.jpg

    9.) Williams Tower (Houston, Texas)

    the_williams_tower_by_bullethead321-d4em

    10.) UnionBank Plaza (Pasig, Philippines)

    90_big.jpg

11.) 555 California Street (Bank of America) (San Francisco, California)

NOTE: The one posted in the workshop is somewhat missing a plaza somewhere, so it just appears as a grass of nothing in the lot. Therefore, it needs fix. :)

    ----- No Picture Needed ------

12.) GT International Tower (Makati, Philippines)

    747475081_1ee715aacc_o.jpg

13.) One and Two International Finance Centers along with The Centre (Hong Kong)

    HK_International_Finance_Centre_200809.j

    14.) Central Plaza (Hong Kong)

    cent75.jpg

15.) World Trade Center Complex (Pre-2001) (Lower Manhattan, New York City)

NOTE: The one in the Workshop looks Modular and can screw up how the position looks like unless done right except for Tower 7 since it is outside of the complex. :)

    ----- No Picture Needed ------

There's more that I cannot count anymore... it might be here soon, but here's one thing.... NDEX's PanPacific Building by Dusktrooper.... I do hope some SimCity 4 buildings like Van Prooijen Trading, Pedriana Pharmaceuticals and others will be ported with correct size along with SimCity 4 BATs that were made by the community, but this could take a risk. :)

P.S. Needs BOTH 1:1 and game size (1:1.5 or something) for the sake of the community.

About roads, I kinda need Monorails with stations, an Elevated Train Stations and wide roads (from 4 lanes w/o central island to 6 lanes w/ central island, etc.) and highways (that act properly from 2 lane to 4 or 5 lanes with proper exit/enter lane).

    Hello all,

I am sure I am not the only one suffering from sudden RCI demand decrease, especially in Residential and Commercial zones, due to traffic.  If someone with intelligence and know-how to create a mod that would disable the effects traffic has upon RCI could do so, that would be greatly appreciated. To me it is really a game breaker and just seems a bit unrealistic. I am sure I am not the only one. This is a beautiful looking forum btw.

Would it be possible to make mod that can allow buildings to level up without replacing the lot?

Old buildings like row homes may have been originally been built as cheap housing, but were renovated as the land values increased and the city grew.

It makes it hard to try to find a place for historical building models in the game.

What would be possible is the following:

Asset creators create multiple versions of their assets (lvl 1 ugly with trash, lvl 2 renovated, lvl 3 with small pool).

The mod hooks into the building selection that occurs on upgrading and looks for an asset with a similar name ("myhome L1" -> "myhome L2").

I could easily integrate this into the Building Themes mod. It would just require the help of the asset authors to create the different asset versions and to name them correctly.

Is It possible to mod the vehicle selection for cims so that they are based on their wealth level?

For example: level 1 sims have 80's and 90's junk boxes, level 2 90s and 2000's, level 3 2000+, level 4 sports cars, level 5 luxury

Are you sure this lot size exists ???

I grew a whole neighborhood of 2 deep 4 wide repeatedly, from level one there was already no trace of any 4x2 building.:ducky:

Yes, it exists. I ran this test a while ago:

It first searches for a 4x2 prefab. If no was found, it searches for 2x2.
    0L0DWrh.jpg

    The problem:

If the zone is 4x3, and no 4x3 or 2x3 prefab was found, it will not search for 4x2.

4x2 assets will ONLY grow if the zone has a depth of 2 blocks.

Right now I'm trying to fix that.

Right now I'm trying to fix that.

I'm looking at a bunch of modded assets. I first noticed this with some early 4x2 high res structures on 2-deep hillside lots.

Now, I see it far more often on corner lots. Crabbs's 4x2 corner "Classic North American Style Highrise v2, Residental - Growable" for example.  http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=455414601&searchtext=4x2

It seems like the game makes a hard distinction between corner and non-corner lots now, to the point that if it decides a lot is a corner, it won't try to find non-corner lots, and it also won't search for the other possible orientation. If modders are making non-square "corner" lots, they need to make right and left versions.

Does it exist?  In the asset editor, the templates list several 4x2 lots, just none at level 5.  There's also 2x4 level 5 lots.  But the lots only divide into 2x2s when the first building spawns - they never subdivide with later upgrades.

    Here's some:

    Crabbs North American HR1  http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=455414601&searchtext=4x2

    Morsh's European Apartment Block, LR2 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=422102412&searchtext=4x2

    Morsh's European Apartment Block, HR2 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=421923450&searchtext=4x2

These actually say "4x2" in the description.  I first noticed this with other assets that didn't specify it, so it's hard to find them back.

Here's one with comments complaining about the same problem:

    Multi-storey building http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=415455531

Hostel tower http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=411066341  (same building, different paint job, also with comments)

A few requests off the top of my head:

    • Elevated train stations
    • Wider (higher-capacity) highway ramps
    • Ferries / Water taxis

I'm not sure if a mod could do the following, or if CO would need to make these possible, but I wish:

    • That we could draw seawalls and waterfront walkways kind of like roads, tracing the coastline. Terraforming and plopping is much more difficult without the old SC4 grid.
    • That we could merge two roads without an intersection. For example, have a two lane one-way road sidle up and merge with another two lane one-way road (perhaps an elevated road leading to ground).  This would be much more realistic.
