Ok, I gotta go shopping for those police and fire stations! And the skate park. And a few other things I discovered looking at this CJ. I love those farms and rural areas. Great job. I'll keep an eye on this.

Can you make a video?  I would love to see your workflow.  Also, are you working with unlimited money?  How do you plant the trees so well?  Do you do them one by one or do you use the brush tool?  If you use the brush tool, does it deduct from your account?  Finally, where do you get your intersections from?

Thanks.  Your CJ is awesome!

Amazing updates again! Your roundabouts and interchanges are a joy to look at and they also seem to do their job very well.  :)

Everything in your city seems very natural and realistic and your planning is excellent.

It's great to see there are so much mods already after such a short time. The potential of this game gets bigger and bigger every day.

Forkton is getting massive! Those are some detailed buildings by Ngon, and you did an incredible job showcasing them! But those magical floating bushes doe. :P

That skybox was not what I expected. Still, it does explain how every building's glass gets its "reflection".

I like your roundabouts and interchanges. They are neatly done and look very professional. The roundabout greenery treatments are very nice.

Ln X: Even more???? Hehe, I've already having a challenge filling up the south, but I do agree, that the other sides of the area need some rural love too :)

feyss: thanks. every time I make a roundabout, I just feel I have to add something to it.

Mymyjp: thanks. Nice to read you're getting inspired. I get the same from other CJ's I read.

Mr_Maison: Yeh, I saw those buildings, and I just had to show 'em off. I'm thinking of making the mod spotlight a returning feature on this CJ.

    realdimension: thanks.

TekindusT: I just keep getting ideas! :)

switchkeys: It's the only city I've played really (I had a simple test city to mess up to unlock some buildings, but that's it. I've currently put almost 100 hours in Forkton.

    Ultimate727: thanks :)

    jesper107: ... oh dear

BlitzPackage: About the video... I'm not sure. I'd have to look into geting some recording software etc. I've been thinking about doing some guided tours around the city though, especially with that FPS camera mod and my trains/buses. Any suggestions?

I use no money cheats, and plant the trees 1 by one. It's time consuming, but I like making it look good, and am normally watching/listening to some YT content or TV when I'm working on stuff like that. Or just some great music and click away.

My intersections are all created by me, on the map. I like the flexibility it gives me, I also find the intersections on the workshop way too compact.

AgeKay: Yep, I was hoping the modding community would pick up on this game, and I'm glad they have been so far. I expect even greater things in the future.
Next poster: Holy crap your name :D
    thanks for the kind words.

    charlesnew: thanks :)

coolwiththecool2: yay, thanks for the follow :)

kingofsimcity: Yep, it's getting large. And clearly those bushes were not created with the FPS camera mod in mind :D And yes, I guess it's the reflection trick showing up outside of the sky box. Was a funny moment.
Libertyville: thanks. I just can't leave interchanges and roundabouts just laying there in the grass...

    Teaser update time:

as I said, I've been away this weekend. I did get some inspiration while driving around though, so I figure I might as well show you what I'm currently working on.

Welcome to the Forkton Waste Water Recycling And Energy Recuperation Plant (FoWaWaRERP), clearly I need to come up with a better name :D

The hippies have been bugging me lately about us just dumping our waste water into the river (although all of it is treated these days).

Our scientists came up with a proces where-in the waste water is filtered in a second pass, removing all last bio matter from the water. The bio matter is then left to decompose, so that at a later date the bio-gas can be recovered and used for power generation. Some of the energy that's being used to pump all the sewage around the city is also recuperated in this final filtration stage.

The new FoWaWaRERP is currently generating 48 MW of power, and will most likely be expanded in the future.

    tH2HxBZ.jpg

The cost of building this puppy though.....

    ifZPvV2.jpg

It has cost the city a grand total of 1,5 million generic credits so far. Later expansions will have to wait due to the insane costs.

    I69cdqo.jpg

    Here's a few more pictures:

    7Uah6t0.jpg

    teUmB92.jpg

OOC: It feels a bit cheaty, but I just love the look of it, and this corner of Forkton needed something big and industrial looking. I think that eventually I'll try to move all our sewage plants into this area, and will add more canals connecting to the dam. It will end up looking totally awesome I think.

I refuse to use the money cheat though, so this will be a long term project.

Hope you've enjoyed this little teaser.

Great idea on combining sewage and green energy. It would be cool if the dam could filter out a bit of the pollution. You need to expand a lot if you ever want to break even though! ;)

Some nice and creative engineering there! I don't think anyone of us would have ever thought of reclaiming treated waste water as electricity!

It looks nice and neat too, has a nice industrial look to it.  :thumb:

Oh, that's a very neat idea. Great (and unexpected) use of the hydro power plant! That dam must be ridiculously cost ineffective though.

max_13: yeh, it was mainly built for the looks, but it's nice that it's actually generating power :) I'm thinking about adding a mod to get rid of some of the water pollution colour. And it will be expanded upon, it's just a massive money-sink :)

Haljackey: thanks, I needed something big in that corner.
Ultimate727: hehe, I tend to go mad on the picture counter :)

PK111: Feel free to expand on the idea.
    NielsC007: thanks
    Tonraq: thanks as well

Libertyville: I use the terrarform mod. It gives you access to some of the map editing tools. For a hefty price though.

SimWarrior: I can't help it, I'm Dutch. If I see water I have to play with it :)

Gurra09: currently doing 48 MW for 3200 generic currency. It's far from cost effective, but that was not the intent :)

Sansha: thanks, glad you enjoyed it.

    Today's Mods:

Found a nice alternative medium sized football stadium made by pborn: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=414794513

And a nice baseball stadium by OniDisco: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=413808664

The baseball stadium currently still has some lighting rendering issues, but it's going to look great once that's fixed.

    Anyways, update time:

We've seen massive cruise ships sail past Forkton for about 40 years now. It was about time we tapped this new source of tourists. We needed a way for them to dock though....

    rEVHgn3.jpg

Since the captains of the ships in these parts apparently all drink on the job, we felt the need to protect our shores a bit.

    hyZucIl.jpg

OOC:Sadly, this does not help at all with the drink-and-sail behavior of the captains, but I think it looks nice.

The view from the front of the terminal:

    N1YBKX8.jpg

    And from the walkway.

    SrjJqnG.jpg

We've added the 'shore protection' to the old cargo port as well, and some of the bridges

    BOLDLR4.jpg

We also needed them to stay away from the treacherous currents at the new plant.

    Jmex2Bi.jpg

The Old Forkton Passenger Terminal is bringing in lots of new tourists. So much so, that we had to add an extra train line connecting directly to Sporkton Central Station.

    3OKb6I2.jpg

Some of the tourists decided to stay and live in Forkton. The aren't Frenzy Fans at all though, in fact, they started their own Football team, and petitioned to build a new stadium in the north of town. I've allowed it.

    tIZX7wd.jpg

it didn't take long for some of the fans of the new team to redecorate the outside slightly.

    t37ZBzA.jpg

It's rather impressive as far as stadiums go.

    oByKhCE.jpg

I got a fancy new skybox out of the whole deal though. This is the view from my personal seat.

    WIVNHLp.jpg

Shops and businesses were eager to settle close to the stadium. I've allowed the Finexia investment company to build another business park. Finexia Portside was built next to the stadium.

    b8n8aPe.jpg

It's pedestrian friendly, and has a style of its own.

    XXjdguc.jpg

With Northon and Sporkton both increasing in land value rapidly, the low density residential strip next to the fastway was bought up, and redeveloped into higher density.

    wu44SZa.jpg

There's no stopping progress I guess.

    C6TjqVw.jpg

While it's now all high density, there's still some pleasant places around here.

    rzqS4dS.jpg

This again brought some more traffic, and one of the intersections became a bottleneck. It was quickly decided to convert the avenue to 6 lanes. When this didn't seem to affect the situation too much at all, the small 2 lane connection got closed down (changing the cross roads into a t intersection). A new one way entry lane was built closer to the viaduct as an alternate route out of Portside.

In hindsight, the expansion to 6 lanes was probably not needed at all, since removing the one road from the intersection solved the problem completely. Ah well, don't tell the tax payers.....

    3bohiIq.jpg

The Finexia investment company was doing pretty well for themselves with the new Portside Business Park. So much so that they decided to build a nice monument to their own greatness over in Finexia North.

    m18Nq2O.jpg

They also found that having a sports stadium close to their business parks was great for business. They privately financed a new Baseball stadium over at Finexia North as well. It was built at the spot of the recently moved incineration plants.

Plenty of parking here as well, which helps the businesses as well when there's no games to be played.

    H5tPXss.jpg

I'm glad they kept it pretty low profile though...

    uKxIckj.jpg

Here's a picture I took from the second ring, they still have to install the stadium lighting....

    9vH57e4.jpg

Because it's too dark to see the game currently

(OOC: the author of the mod is aware of the lighting issue, he's trying to fix it. The problem only shows up close, the LOD model shows fine)

    mAcGhWE.jpg

And finally, Brow Town was expanded. All the people working over at the Finexia parks needed a place to live. The locals now just refer to their district with the name 'the Brow' now.

Here are the first new developments over in the west.

    F5HNf32.jpg

There is a very broad walkway road between the older and newer sections of the Brow.

    3YeZsby.jpg

    looking towards the east.

    bdpWOek.jpg

    and towards the west.

    ioozcwH.jpg

The Brow Sports Park got slightly larger as well.

    CXOE5LF.jpg

and a merry-go-round was built for the younger children.

    JwAwSW8.jpg

Sorry for the long update once again. I had some extra time today :)

This is the current view towards the south. I think we can officially call Forkton a city now.

You just have the prettiest roundabouts! I also really like that sports park. The football stadium is actually home to one of the clubs here in Hamburg, had a good laugh when I found it on Steam ;)

By the way, if you're having issues with lighting in your pictures I can suggest to try out the mod Sun Control. Works great, but the info views are bugged with it at the moment so I only use it for taking screens.
