  1. Sorry for the lack of updates guys! I've been a bit busy at the moment!
  2. ^ Thanks! I also want to thank Benedict for adding this city to his top list! Such an honor, and many other great projects as well! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some updates, and some new areas to check out! ^ An overview of Boulder County, my has it grown! ^ Northeast Corridor as it is the main in and out towards the Blue Mountains, where many like to vacation over the winter and summer. (FUN FACT: Did you know that many names of the areas in this region (besides the river, and creek) are all based off of names in the area I live in! Like the highway names, townships ect. Someone gets a prize if they can figure it out, or at least get the state right.) ^ Looking up towards the mountains, a few radio towers can be seen, many of the area's biggest radio statons have antennas up there. The small town of Winding Rocks, very peaceful and quiet. Well that was before the highway went through it haha. ^ As the highway crests up Winding Rocks you can see Boulder River, and in the distance the town New Rapids. Thats it for today, I also have been working on another city project as well as this one!
  3. Wow! You did a nice job with this so far, very planned out!
  4. Update time! Found some free time! ^ Districts of Metromills and Belton have taken state loans to control a flood protection plan. It included putting in man made wing dams that trap the water, however due to popular water sports such as river rafting, a wing dam was the best option, as rafters could still go through. It is about 8 feet tall, but its benefits are larger than that. It took 3 years to finish the dam. ^ Looking upstream at our newest destination. ^ New Rapids is a river town in the mountains, small but quiet. A lot of rich folks live up here. ^ Its source of power is the wind mills on the hills (I rhymed!) New Rapids has many historical homes and a very visible bell tower. ^ Looking upstream at a bridge crossing. ^ And another actual dam, with an old canal path for boats to go to bypass the dam. Now rafters can go through it carefully tho, its dangerous! More next week!
  5. ^ Actually no I did it on purpose! However I did make it accidentally flood today when I was working on the city, which was strange but interesting. It was strange because it was like a real life flash flood, for some reason the water would rise some how, then it went down, then up again. It did 6 times before it finally calmed now. But you guys will see that when I post the next update, and some interesting ideas as well. ^ No it won't effect it too much, but yeah a pretty massive flood. ^ Thanks! They will surely recover! The Bouldinians are strong. Thanks for the support guys, I am working on the next update will be be posted this weekend when I have time, in the meantime... there are other awesome city journals out there in this forum!
  6. Where did you get the times square building? Couldn't seem to find it in the workshop? Also enjoying your city! Love your info about the specific buildings, keep it up!
  7. Funny Screenshots

They actually look like they are using those concrete smoothing tools on the sidewalk.
  8. ^ Thanks that means a lot! Hey I call it as I see it, if its a good game then it deserves to be shown in a good light right? ^ Its tough at times, but it makes the city interesting in my eyes. A few headaches here and there but challenges are fun! -------------------------------------------------- FLOOD! It turns out after a major 4-10" of rain in the county, along with what happened upstate, Boulder River crested to historical levels! 22 feet above normal flood stage to be exact! Luckily the local weather station has warned many people of areas vulnerable to flooding, such as Belton and bits of Metromills along Boulder River to evacuate immediately, through some were brave to stay and they had to be rescued by helicopter and boats. Many fire stations were borrowed to help with the rescue efforts. Some photos found on facebook and other means of social media. Carl R. "Looks like a bit of flooding. OMG." ^ Helicopter Arial. Water began to overflow the bridges, and they were shutdown. ^ A few cars on the bridge left to be overtaken by the fury of Boulder River. ^ Belton downtown began to experience the worst. Causing a lot of chaos. ^ Picture from Sarah P. on twitter "This is just insane, I never seen it flood like this. #flood #Belton #disaster" ^ helicopter footage freeze frame of absolute destruction. And below you can witness what happened to the only bridge in and out to Boulder Island, as it couldn't hold any longer. ^ There she goes, floating down stream. A few concerns that it would effect other bridges down stream, but luckily it sank. ^ Finally signs of receding finally happening after 6 hours of flash flooding. Belton and surrounding communities now have a lot of there hands as they clean up and survey damage.
  9. ^ Thanks! I thought the same as I was making it. ^ Thanks means a lot jmsepe! ^ Its a challenge, instead of using a moderate flat landscape I decided to make it hard and interesting. ^ They are the ones that pop up, they are mainly townships, towns, and cities. Sometimes I name a complex just for the hell of it. ----------------------------------------------- Update time! A little bit of an oddity today to start things up, but I'll stick to the storyline.. ^ A shot looking north. ^ Wolf Creek in the Metromills area. ^ A few offices in Metromills, there is space available for start up companies! ^ Boulder River was rough today, with a lot of wind as well. Looking at Belton from this view. Belton is considered a small satelite city. ^ The stunning view of the near by Blue Mountains. Blue mountains were probably named that due to how they look from miles away. ^ Looking south. ^ Interstate 95, and a small tiny area of highrises called Rapids Point, which is technically a part of Metromills. The fancier folks live there. ^ And a first look from the vantage point of Boulder island, a island that dates back to the 1700's and used to have a fort on the top before it crumbled. But there are actually homes on here, as well as its own source of power from solar panels. ^ Picture thanks to a small bi plane. Metromils fancy area at the bottom, boulder island, and Belton at the top. ^ A new area you say? Yes, this area is sort of a home away from home area, considered the mountains. A lot of skiing areas nearby, and mountain homes. The turnpike was built to bring development up here, and so far its worked well. ^ And to end things a nice overview from the far west of the map looking east, you may notice something new if you really look.
  10. I love the last overview shot, you really can see the effort you applied in the layouts and areas! Good job!
  11. That water treatment area is beyond inspiring! I love the idea! Great mini update!
  12. Update time! Thanks Benedict! The traffic sure is getting more congested. ----------------------------------------------- ^ A overview of what has been added, a bit of expansion! ^ A bit of development was pushed next to Wolf Creek called Creekside township, and on the otherside of interstate 76 (Which was made to control traffic going across Boulder River.) is the Penisula Point another small township full of more wealthier folks. ^ Along with Interstate 76 began the expansion of the rails which allows for the freight from the industries across the river to get over quickly and more efficiently. But not without a few complaints from neighbors of Penisula Point. ^ Interstate 76 and beyond, along with a bypass which leads to the southern part of Boulder County. ^ To the north is Metromills a small city by Wolf Creek, home of Boulder County Community college, and many older buildings from the early 1900's. ^ The downtown of Metromills has interstate 95 cutting through it. ^ A road cutting through the blue mountains. ^ A view from up top looking south. ^ A view looking north across the Boulder River.
  13. I think it would be cool if someone could make cell towers, radio masts, substations. And something I think that could help others is if they could mod the trees so we can place more without running out with the error. (You can't place anymore of this type.)
