Hello everyone!

sorry, i hope you can help me to unsolve the doubt

so, they say that maps should be 2x2km and max size is 9 tiles; max size is 36km2 ?

that should be 6x6km = 36km2 right?

if that should be, this means that maps are actually more little that XLs maps, which are instead 10.5x10.5km= 100 km2 and more!

am i right? who can answer me?

nothing to blame, just guessing if the maps are actually more little than xl, at beginnning of the game.

greetings!!! :golly:

I don't want to raise my expectations too much but I think I might be needing a faster computer for this. ;)

Correct. Maps are small, only 6x6

tho they announced at "miniscule"-collosal order, that maybe they might add bigger maps later on  :)

I'm excited for this.  Maps appear to be bigger than any SimCity map ever though which is cool.  Hopefully the game ends up being really good and we will finally have a good newer city builder/sim.

"If you try to please everybody, you often times end up pleasing nobody, especially yourself. When somebody offers to do a favor for free, like making a mod for SimCity 4, you shouldn't be overly critical of something generously given to you. In other words, you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth." - Twilight Sparkle after playing SimCity

"Being a mayor or a content creator for SimCity 4 is a heavy responsibility, Patrick. Each city and each custom content is like a child, and must be treated as such." - SpongeBob Squarepants after playing SimCity

"Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible." - Frank Zappa

"The wisest men follow their own direction." - Euripides

Agreed.  I don't think I've been this excited for a game in a long time.  The Paradox team definitely knows what they're doing, we might finally have the next-gen city builder/sim we've been waiting for.

If you missed the live stream, they have it uploaded to youtube. Gives a good overview. So far, I'm impressed.

I can't wait to see more of this game. I think it will be better than the SimCity, especially with the easy to mod promise.

Right/Left side traffic
This has been a feature that has been requested from the time when the Earth was still a young planet drifting in space in the early years of the solar system. I am happy to announce that in Cities: Skylines it is possible to determine whether the traffic is right- or left-handed. In Cities: Skylines one of the key points in road building and the behavior of vehicles was to make it possible to change the side of the traffic easily. Instead of complex, hand-crafted animations for public transport vehicles and such all is handled through code which gives a lot more freedom compared to manually animating each vehicle to work with both right- and left-handed traffic.

"Highways and ramps

Highways are the first connection point to the outside world in a new city. But they also serve as a quick way to connect neighborhoods and population centers together over long distances. We designed the highways so that they are built separately, one direction at a time. This gives the players possibilities to design complex highway solutions where one group of lanes is not held back by the other and the roads can follow the terrain formations more intuitively. Separate lanes also give great choices when building ramps and highway interchanges."

this kind of thought into the design gives me hope that they're going to make something special, one can hope

I just watched those 3 videos posted by Spa and I loved them! The humor, the gameplay, the graphics, they all look really good!

--Ocram

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

It all looks great, the only thing I am a but concerned about is the existing infrastructure on the maps. Whilst I agree there should be a road and a rail line crossing the map, I don't think it would be a highway, it should be a small local road that would be build along - and upgrade or bypass later with a big highway. One of  the main problems with SC 2013 was that every city was a cul de sac of a motorway rather than forming along a through route.

After watching the most recent interview, my god, it really is a big thing. I hope that there will also be a lot of mods and custom buildings for this game soon. :)

As it seems Paradox is taking a big interest in this game I would expect it to become 500% moddable. It is amazing what the modders do to Paradox games. So I expect (hope) there to be no issues with map size etc. I trust Paradox ever since I got my hands on Europa Universalis 1 :)

So far I'm very impressed in what I have seen so far, perhaps there is hope for another true city building game again after all.
It's great to see them listening to city builder fans and not go off in some other direction.
I'm excited and hopeful at this point with Paradox.

Looks like this game has a lot of potential to grow, although there are still things to iron out, this game is a pretty solid competitor to the other game.

Oh good to see this has his own sub-forum now. Hopes this doesn't turn out to be a white elephant. :)

You all are getting overhyped... I see simcity all over again. Accept for the DRM crisis. The game is riddled with stuff from minor bugs to huge deal breakers. I've been following closely and have decided NOT TO BUY. I'd rather buy SC4 or Cities XL.

I think it's awesome that the developers are ENCOURAGING modding in Cities and that the map will be equivalent of 38km. I can finally build ALL of New York City, including all of the boroughs. New York is one slab of concrete that is 30 miles2 and 10 stories deep; I can't wait to build FDR Drive and Harlem River Expressways, to encapsulate this 30 mile slab of skyscrapers! Come on, Paradox, and release Cities: Skylines already!
