O yeah, that would bhe Don Miguel's - no idea why the preview image has stopped working.

Also, I don't think it would make much sense to use SC3000 lot textures because as we have seen during the recreation of Aquilina Building, the game used a different colour palette. If you create stuff for SC4, it's better to make sure that it looks good in SC4.

    Thanks for the find T Wrecks. I couldn't seem to get it with those keywords, and the preview seems rather bugged. It's there, but there's a massive void of random patterened default imagery, with small thumnails of the BAT :P

     

    Also, technically, those last two are SC2000. Some of Konstantin's suggested are SC2000 as well :P And T Wreck's does have a point in terms of textures (buildings or Lot otherwise). Keeping textures that look good in SC4 are a better course of action than using textures, that are far too saturated and cartoonish. They would've suited SC3000 better due to the lower quality rendering, but with SC4 having the capability for higher caliber renders, SC3000 textures are bound to look out of place.

    Lol no. The two games are entirely different with significant changes to the in game mechanics (SC3000 introduced the game and UI we all know and love) and a signficant graphics overhaul. Check it:

     

    SIMCITY 2000 (1993)

    If 3000 was an expansion to 2000, it would be aptly named so with a more approrpriate "worded game title" than being given a number to sample as a sequel. Besides, game detail is vastly different, something expansion packs never offer. Just as it is with SC3000 and SC4 :P

    Just wanted to pop in and say I am really enjoying your buildings.  I especially like the HuCo buildings since there is a main "headquarters" building and smaller branch offices I can put in other cities.  I think that is a neat idea and helps make my regions feel more realistic and legit.  Hopefully you do more like this and that it catches on with other BATers.

     

    Anyway, kudos on your work.  Look forward to seeing more from you!

    I'm trying, but the frames are really killing it. What's worse is the BAT is simply too messy to fix up properly. There are random poly surfaces all over the place and divisions don't seem to be registering correctly (or I missed them out). Those frames as well seem to be waaaay to thin, and re-doing them would be a pain since there's over a hundred them crossing each other. Idk, it's really just a mess. I'm going to see what I can do though.

    Maybe increase the quality of the render in the configurations can help, it worked in a more detailed building I'm doing.

    Yeah, I'm still working on those. I've been a little stuck on the design ideas, but I'm getting around it.

    Wow, I don't even know how to do that. Or that you could do that. Could you enlighten me on how to do that?

    Sure, Darn42 taught me once.

     

    You click on Render Setup, then the settings will open and you click in the Renderer tab, then you can increase Quality, Minimum and Maximum. The most you increase them, more delay to render. It work with small details, but sometimes with very small details it doesn't help much.

    Thanks! I wasn't actually sure this would work on BAT4Max renders, but I'll give it a try and see if it does anything :)

    Is there a bump/normal or displacement map applied to the window frames? It looks like the reflection from the ground plane is partially causing them to look funky.

    Nah, they've been modelled. Problem is likely that they were modelled beyond a certain thinness that the render can't seem to register :O

    No, they shouldn't look weirdly pixelated. I think it's either a render setting or somehow related to the reflection. Can you try a render without the ground plane?

    Well, he's right. This can happen accidentally. Just apply a grey default texture and check again. This has happened to me sometimes!

    Well, he's right. This can happen accidentally. Just apply a grey default texture and check again. This has happened to me sometimes!

     

     

    Just realized, I forgot that there's technically a bump map on the window, that's overlapping the window frames. :O I might just take it off since it's not all that crucial to the BAT :P

     

    Okay, I'm now diverting any new developments of any Vancouver Res/Com Hi-rises to the Mass Effect: TMW BAT project (It was meant to be there in the first place). The next thing I'm currently working on here on TRP, is this mystery BAT. I have nothing to say about it. I only offer these pictures and little else.

    Ahhrgh,every time i see your work i want to travel into future to future Simtropolis to download your creations.This new mysterious mystery tower is no exeption.

    I guess i`m the only one who things this but if that tower would be taller the it would remind me of the old WTC towers.

    I wonder if this is already the full height or will it be expanded?

    The roof looks weird,but i guess this is just because there is still some roofjunk missing,right?

    So I guess what you plan is to give people the feeling they know the building, convince them it's existing and make them entirely sure on knowing where it has been built just to say:" BAM, this is fictional ..."

    I'm not sure there are really prominent window frames in the tower section. It looks to me more like some sort of glass tile that's somehow been grouted together. If you have sections of the frames disappearing, that looks pretty accurate to me...

    Well, I am going to color them to blend in with the black so they look less like thick prominent window frames (they'll also be a litlte more reflective than the actual windows so they still appear). They're just meant to show up to be prominent enough and determine divisions between window panels because without it, the sides of the building's glass looks like one giant (and singular) pattern of black squares and lighter black intersecting lines :P

     

    It's really just my way of compensating for my lack of 3ds Max modelling knowledge that might give the same effect using some intricate technique in relation to the RL times square, but since I'm not aware of it or have any prior in-depth knowledge of the program's modelling abilities, I do what I can in sketchup :lol:
