GTA is fun for like 10 minutes. Then it's just boring and repetitive. Only so much aimless rampage you can go on.

GTA IV is the only game I play on the PS3 (mostly use it for netflix, blu-rays and as a media centre). I have had so much fun just goofing off and getting chased by the cops. The story in IV is excellent too. I found the GTA III series to be boring, and I agree with Duke's points for those games.

Hate to break the trend here but I've already shared my condolences, soo...

 

I found a store today which still had PS1, N64, GBC, and Dreamcast logos on its sign. Definitely not the only one still around but it must be the most blatant.

That's where the 64 in my name is from.

I have a cousin who owns every Nintendo console (including NES), a PS1 and 3 and Sega Genesis.

On Sunday we played some games out oft he big bin ofNES games. As AVGN fans, we started with Total Recall and Top Gun. "There's a lot of crap in that bin". Oddly, I couldn't take my eyes off the LJN logo.

We then played Turtles in Time and Battltoads, but the game crashed on level 2 .

Then, on the other side of the old games scale, we played Injustice, Gods Among Us, which is good, but everyone's so slow in said game

Actually, the likely explanation is even simpler than that. This sign was put up in 1999 when all those systems were current and the store owner just hasn't bothered to change it since:

 

As I said, there are other stores in odd corners of New York City (and probably other cities too) that still have logos for old game systems on their signs. What makes this one special is that the logos are basically the entire sign, not just a decoration on it.

 

 

EDIT: to illustrate my point, here is a picture of another store I took in February of 2012. No idea if this sign is still there but it was at least until then:

Nostalgia is good cause to buy old games and consoles. I would totally play Pilotwings64 right now if I had a copy. That game was so much fun. It could be relaxing or frustrating depending on the task. I remember the shutterbug missions were difficult to get the max score on.

The logos on them reflect the consoles that were current at the time the sign was installed (the first sign is probably from 1999 or 2000, the second from 1996 or 97).

 

Even still, there is a perfectly good reason to buy a game console that's that old: to play the games for it! Old video games are cool. Nintendo sells lots of them for download on Wii Virtual Console for a reason: there is a market. If you don't want your old consoles anymore there are plenty of people who will be more than willing to buy them from you.

Also, I like older games more than newer games.  I think it's just that my free time and money is so much less than it once was, so I just can't get into the new stuff like maybe single, child-less me would in an alternate reality.
